meeting. Hakim Cassimally² will be shedding light on the mysterious
concept of the Internet of Things³ in a talk entitled "Enchanted
Objects: the Internet of Things for Humans". In Hakim's words:

"In this talk, we'll look at bubbles, owls, bicycles, enchanted
objects, designing for humans, and open source frothy goodness!"

We will meet at the Liverpool Social Centre⁴ at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm
start. After the talk, we will venture to a local drinking
establishment for beverages and further discussion.

Liverpool Social Centre is next door to the News from Nowhere bookshop
on Bold Street⁵. To access the centre, press the bell for the
basement on the left of the door and someone will come up and let you
in.

This should be another illuminating, possibly even inspiring talk :-)

Hi everyone

Apologies for using the google group for this, but I think it could be of
interest to a wide range of organisers

We've held Young Rewired State [1] at MadLab for a week in August in 2010 &amp;
2011. It's a weeklong "hack" for developers aged 18 and under - held in
August

It's a chance for developers aged under 18 to come together, build stuff
and show the world. Equally, it's also a great opportunity for the
communities around MadLab to work with young people.

In the past year, the success of YRS has al</pre>

<pre>On Saturday, 21st April 2012, the Liverpool Linux User Group¹ will be
meeting. This is a Saturday meeting so there's no talk.

Last month proceedings were distrupted somewhat by the presence of
bands practicing in Studio 2, even though we occupied a sound-proof
booth. This month, I thought we might try meeting at The Shipping
Forecast² on Slater Street³. And also at an earlier time, seeing as
they serve meals there.

So, the place to be is The Shipping Forecast at 12.30pm next Saturday.
As always, a fluffy Tux penguin toy will be on display because it's
cute and cool. Depending on the swiftness of the US Postal Service,
it may even be joined by a cute and cool fluffy GNU toy :-) In case
you need it, my mobile number is 0783 034 5001.

Cheers,

Hi Michael,

I just wanted to let you know about the special rates for the upcoming
Web Design Foundations courses.

As you know MadLab is a not-for-profit organisation and we use
Omniversity to generate some income. We could always use help in
promoting the courses. It is especially important to us to fill as many
places as possible and we would like to offer special rates for the up
coming Web Design Foundations courses for t</pre>

<pre>The GTA04 Group Tour production is going to happen, even though the
target number of subscribers wasn't reached. Even if you haven't got
the money to support this project you can still help by getting the word
out.

Dear all,
the group tour has been closed now and although we did
not even reach 50% of the original goal, we will start anyways.

Thanks to some smaller and some generous donations we
will be able to "charter the plane" for making our tour. Even
if the seats are more expensive.

We already have ordered most of the components so
that production is planned to start after the easter week</pre>

<pre>On Friday 20 April a number of us from various geek groups will be going
for some thai food at Try Thai on Faulkner Street. We'll be meeting
outside the restaurant just before 7:30pm and going straight in for a meal.

There's a menu on the web site with full costs, but expect £25-30 per
head, depending on which banquet you choose and how many beverages you
drink.

The event is open to all but I need to book a table, so please let me
know by email (paul-AhP4oNs1KLk&lt; at &gt;public.gmane.org) if you would like to attend. The deadline
for booking is 6pm, Wednesday 18 April.

Hope to see you there!

Web Design Foundations is a four part modular course aimed at anyone
who wants to learn about how the Web works from the very basic
beginnings and be taken step by step, in a friendly informal style, up
to the point where they know how to build a basic modern best
practices web site and put it online. This includes a bit of theory,
but it largely focuses on getting your hands dirty with code (such as
HTML and CSS), and learning how it REALLY works.
