<pre>Hello,

I'm trying to get a 3Com Bluetooth PC card working on a Jornada 720
(hpcarm) device. The serial chip on the card is recognized by NetBSD, but
the btuart driver doesn't attach. I can't tell whether there is an issue
specific to the hpcarm port, or if there's another issue. I've also tried
a 5.1.2 kernel on the hpcarm port and a 5.1.2 and 6.0_Beta kernel on a
Jornada 680 (hpcsh).

I'm attaching the dmesg below. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this
would be much appreciated.

I have a access to a couple of arm based Pocket PC devices. Is it
worth trying to boot
NetBSD without a serial console to try to see the results?

Presumably hpcboot can write to bootlog, but once the kernel boots is the output
restricted to the serial console?

I'm assuming there are no low level screen output routines similar to
OpenFirmwarewhich
could be called very early in autoconfig (any present would require
the WinCE emvironment running)?

For reference the devices I have access to are:
- Symbol MC5040 (PXA270, 64M, Windows Mobile 2003 SE)

I have here a Jornada 568 in working condition (sans battery, though I see
somebody selling those on eBay), has anybody ever tried (or succeeded) to
run NetBSD on those? Wikipedia says[1] that they have the same CPU as
Jornada 720 series, which we do support.

I guess the touch screen might be an issue?

hi folks.

we've just merged the SMP audio code to -current, and there are
several older audio drivers that have not been tested. we are
looking for testers for these drivers:

pxaacu(4)

which appears to be available on both GUMSTIX/LUBBOCK for evbarm
and also hpcmarm NETBOOKPRO.

all you need to do is build or install a recent -current snapshot
(the ones with this are probably not available, but should be
with in the next day or two.)

please report back to me or this list any success or failure.

thanks!

<pre>Hi, all,

Since m68k, VAX, mips, and StrongARM are slightly more modest CPUs than
PowerPC, i386, amd64, and other faster processors, I've been incrementally
uploading the results of a buld package build rather than wait for the
very end (which could be up to a year from now).

In ftp.NetBSD.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD, you'll find:

vax/5.1_2010Q3/ 262 packages
m68k/5.1_2010Q3/ 1398 packages
mipsel/5.1_2010Q3/ 1944 packages
arm/5.1_2010Q3/ 3425 packages

Note that in the interest of expediency some of these packages may be left
over from a previous tag, but all were built with 5.1 (5.1_RC3, 5.1, or
5.1_STABLE).

Please let me know of any issues, and enjoy!

Hi,
I am a newbie and would highly appreciate some help.
I have a compaq ipaq 3650 with a compaq wireless pcmcia card wl110
I would like to load linux on it.
I saw online that NetBSD is a good option, but the problem is it requires 2GB of CF card and I have only 32 MB CF card. Moreover I would like to run NetBSD from my pocketpc.
Secondly, I want to access Internet through my wireless card. I would like to know which version of linux (opie, or NetBSD or something else) has a driver for this card.
Any help would be highly appreciated,
Thanks,

I've committed changes to bump MAXPARTITIONS from 8 to 16 as mentioned
in PR port-hpcarm/18256. (so that we can use disks created on i386)

It uses __HAVE_OLD_DISKLABEL compat method as other ports
so there should be no compat issue, but if you see any problems
please report it here or via send-pr(1).

I've given my jornada another try this morning at school (damnit, i
*want* to stay online also when i'm at school), got my linksys WPC11
rev3 card and plugged it into the jornada (who is running NetBSD
5.0.1_PATCH).

The card is driven by the wi driver.

No strange dmesg message appeared, card gets recognized and configured
properly (device is created, it's configurable) and even leds work (I
can turn leds and the card itself on and off doing ifconfig wi
up/down).

Problems come when i try to connect to a network: firstly, typing a
simple:

root&lt; at &gt;jordana ~ # ifconfig wi0 list scan

enters in a sort of sleep state: ifconfig runs, no output is
displayed, no input is accepted. I can only kill the command doing
C-c.

Secondly, also detecting the net from an external host (and the
configuring networking with something like ifconfig wi0 ssid
"a_network") leads to nothing. Configuration works (ifconfig seems to
work properly, but i can't get any sort of ping answer - and yes,

Help needed installing on a HP Jornada 728

<pre>Hello!

I have a HP Jornada 728 lying here collecting dust which I'd like to use
for porting some apps to ARM, and generally for anything else useful which
WinCE is not.

Unfortunately it seems nigh on impossible to install NetBSD on a CF card
for use with the Jornada if all you have around are Linux boxes :-(

I downloaded the Jibbed NetBSD 5.0.1 LiveCD in the hope that this would
help, only to discover that it's kernel doesn't include support for CF
cards. Tried using a vnd(4) device to create a CF card image but either I
don't understand BSD disklabels well enough or there's something wonky with
how they interact with vnd(4) -- I was not able to get a sane disklabel to
show up on the vnd(4) device and newfs_msdos kept insisting that it was
creating a partition spanning the entire device.

Several hours and no success later, I'm pretty much ready to give up,
unless I can get some help here :-)

I'd like to ask if someone would be so kind as to create an image of a 512M
CF card with NetBSD for the Jornada </pre>

It's a Siemens sanctis, based on an Atmel chip.

I suppose, anyway, that i'll have to buy another card, so I am currently
interested in this card: http://salug.it/~manu/xircom.jpg

It seems to be a "XIRCOM 802.11B CWE1100" card.

My question is, does anybody know whether is it supported?
I read on the pcmcia man-page that it is, but i am not sure about te
model...

Or, is there a way to make my Siemens Sanctis work?
This is the card... http://salug.it/~manu/sanctis.jpg

Thanks in advance...

<pre>Hi!
I am going to give my Jornada 728 a new life, but i fould that my wlan
card that silently served me with no problem under JLime GNU/Linux is
not recognized by NetBSD (5.0.1).

HP Jornada 720 & hpcboot.exe

<pre>
Hello, everyone! My girlfriend gave me a Jornada 720 in immaculate condition
for my birthday this week, so naturally I decided to upgrade this baby
straight away :drunk:

Cross compiling a release (NetBSD-release-5-0) returned no errors, and I
followed the instructions on the NetBSD wiki to get it installed on a
CF-card. However, when I click on hpcboot.exe, Windows CE returns an error
message, stating that hpcboot.exe is not a valid Windows CE application.
I've grabbed different variations of this file (i.e. from the netbsd ftp
site, both 4.0 and 5.0 branches), but no joy so far :,(

Has anyone else come across this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?
