<pre>Hello all,

I get an error when I try to update date-manip-pm5124 on OSX 10.8. The fink info for that package says it's obsolete, so I tried to purge it. Sadly, gnucash2 appears to depend on this package, and I can't do without it. So, please fix the date-manip-pm5124 and/or upgrade gnucash2 to use date-manip-pm.

Thanks,
Sean Lake

This has probably been answered before, but I couldn't quickly find the answer. I want to find the ./configure settings or make settings used in a package in fink, say for example the hdf5 and netcdf4 packages. Where do I look to find this?

Thanks

selfupdate fails

<pre>Greetings from rainy Germany!

I'm trying to selfupdate, but for reasons I don't really understand, it fails. Google found some similar questions, but mostly they were about post-upgrade problems (10.6 -&gt; 10.7), but I'm on 10.8.3, and I believe that this isn't the first selfupdate I've made since I'd upgraded to 10.8.
Have screwed up the configuration or can you tell me if something else is amiss?

Here is the call of gcc that trips:

<pre>This may be outside the scope of this list, if so then I apologize in
advance. It has been quiet lately so I thought I could ask a brief
question.

I am installing a new Mac Mini Server here and want to install mysql.
As a dedicated Fink user I looked here first for mysql. But I notice
that the Fink version is several steps behind the mysql.com
"community" server.

My question is: Is the Fink mysql version actively updated and is
there a reason that I would choose one over the other? y usage, FYI
would be casual, for hosting web sites that use mysql backends such as
Joomla, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Bill W

Compiling interrupted according to the listing below. First error that I can see is "error: no member named 'dd_fd' in 'DIR'".

Also compiling of the previous package version ended with the same error. Compiling was successful in Os x 10.7 and probably also in Os X 10.8.0.

  Processor Speed:    2.3 GHz
  Number of Processors:    1

This shows, as I believe, that I have one CPU and 4 cores and yet Fink
reports that I have 8 CPUs/Cores when I configure it. Is it, perhaps,
counting Threads (or some such) instead of Cores?

I do notice that when I run Activity Monitor and select Show CPU
History it does show 8 bars.

I've set it to 4 in any case so it probably doesn't matter what Fink
thinks but I was just curious why the discrepancy ...

X11 crashes when starting gedit or other gtk basedapplications on Mac OS X leopard 10.5.8 ppc

<pre>Hi,

I used the X11 server that comes with Mac OS X on 10.5.8: /Applications/Utilities/X11.app. I had successfully installed the gnome bundle. Starting gedit and other gnome applications, e.g. gnome-terminal, X11 crashed. Looking in the Mac OS X crash report I found
Thread 2 Crashed:

0 X11.bin 090x0001f994 RootlessGlyphs 112

Searching the web I found a ticket for MacPorts https://trac.macports.org/ticket/31869 with a similar error description and the recommendation to switch to XQuartz 2.6.3

So I tried and over installed XQuartz 2.6.3. On reinstallation of the gnome bundle I ran into another problem caused by a leftover of Apple X11. It could fix it, thanks to a related fink ticket I've found, by renaming /usr/X11/bin/xmkmf.

Now I have XQuartz 2.6.3 running, which is the latest version for Leopard, and the gnome gtk-based applications work fine! - I'v also tested XQuartz 2.4.0, which brings the latest Apple related/named X11 server Xquartz-1.5.3-apple14, but this resulted in the same crash as befo</pre>

<pre>Hi,

I get an make error for libopensync1-shlibs-0.39-3 and afterwards make stops:

/sw/src/fink.build/libopensync1-shlibs-0.39-3/libopensync-0.39/wrapper/opensync-error.i:51: Warning 321: 'set' conflicts with a built-in name in python
make[2]: *** [wrapper/opensyncPYTHON_wrap.c] Error 1
make[1]: *** [wrapper/CMakeFiles/_opensync.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2

This happens when installing the bundle for kde. My environment is:

Package manager version: 0.34.8
Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Fri May 10 07:08:33 2013, 10.5, powerpc
Trees: local/main stable/main stable/crypto unstable/crypto unstable/main
Xcode.app: 3.1.4
Xcode command-line tools: 3.1.4
Max. Fink build jobs:  1
The problem can be fixed by changing the call of the function in opensync-error.i in line 51 from

void set(ErrorType type, const char *msg) {
osync_error_set(&amp;self, type, "%s", msg);
}

to

void set_error(ErrorType type, const char *msg) {
osync_error_set(&amp;self, type, "%s", msg);
}

best regards,
Norbert

<pre>Hi guys,

I run fink-0.34.7 on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

During the installation of octave (fink install octave) the following error occurred. The whole installation output installation can be found in the attached TXT file. Neither restriction of Max. Fink build jobs to 1 nor another selfupdate helped.

I hope to find a solution for installing octave via fink on my system.

Best regards,
Simon

<pre>Alex,

I am almost done with octave* on intel 10.6, but for the following

(i) statistics-oct305 1.1.3-4 Additional statistics functions for Octave
(i) statistics-oct324 1.1.3-4 Additional statistics functions for Octave
(i) statistics-oct343 1.1.3-4 Additional statistics functions for Octave
(i)  symbolic-oct324                1.1.0-3                Symbolic toolbox for Octave

because of Can't resolve dependency "liboctave343-gcc48-dev" for package.

They all have liboctave3??-gcc46. How can I replace them with
liboctave3??-gcc48?

TIA

Dominique
