GENERAL

In the next decade, we will not only see an exponential increase in the
demand of wireless broadband capacity, with predictions on traffic growth
ranging from x100 to x1000, but we will also see a large diversification in
the applications and communication scenarios requiring broadband wireless
access. With the advent of the Internet of Things, at least an order of
magnitude more devices will require wireless connectivity anytime and
anywhere with the cloud. On the other hand, it is likely to see more
localized and context-aware communication between humans or devices in
close proximity, where direct but network-facilitated device-to-device
communication will play a bigger role, and w

The purpose of the fifth Workshop on Real-World Wireless Sensor
Networks (REALWSN) is to bring together researchers and practitioners
working in the area of sensor networks, with focus on real-world
experiments or deployments. Included are, nontheless, new forms
of sensing such as those that leverage smart phones, Internet of

When working with real-world experiments or deployments, many new
issues arise: the network environment may be composed of a variety of
different technologies, leading to very heterogeneous network

Overview

Social-awareness has recently attracted a high level of attention in
network management. The Joint SmartenIT/eCOUSIN Workshop on
Social-aware Economic Traffic Management for Overlay and Cloud
Applications "SETM" is the continuation and evolvement of three
successful Economic Traffic Management workshops, where the last
workshop was co-located with ITC22. The workshop title has been
changed to better reflect the scope of the wo

New Conference Paradigm: IEEE OnlineGreenComm

Dear all,

As you may have seen from the CFP that has been posted to this and other
mailing lists, the submission deadline for the third IEEE Online
Conference on Green Communications is approaching
(http://www.ieee-greencom.org/). In contrast to traditional conferences,
a key distinguishing factor of IEEE OnlineGreenComm is that it is
conducted entirely online. This has substantial advantages in terms of
traveling time and cost as well as enviromental friendliness. Also, it
provides a unique opportunity to participate in a conference with some
researchers that may have difficulty in attending traditional conferences.

Over the previous two editions of the conference, IEEE OnlineGreenComm
has made an effort to improve the online experience by setting up a
platform that provides attendees with the opportunity for interactive
technical discussions, networking, viewing demonstrations and
interacting with exhibitors just like an in-person conference. At the
same time, previous editions of IEEE Onlin

CALL FOR PAPERS
Wireless pervasive computing is a rapidly growing area that has attracted significant attention due to its potential impact on the quality of life. To enable wireless pervasive computing, it is necessary to integrate technologies from the fields of distributed computing, networking, communications and signal processing. The aim of this symposium is to provide a platform for researchers in the area of wireless pervasive computing and related areas to showcase their results, launch new ideas, as well as to interact with other researchers.
The scope of this symposium covers concepts and all enabling technologies of wireless pervasive computing. This

PhD position on interference modeling - Austria

Dear all,

there is an open PhD researcher position in my group in Klagenfurt in the following project funded by the Austrian Science Fund:

Dynamics of Interference in Wireless Networks
  http://indy.nes.aau.at/

The temporal and spatial dynamics of multiple-access interference in wireless networks has significant impact on diversity techniques and protocols. The goal of this project is to gain a deep understanding of interference correlation in the time and space domain and to rigorously analyze its impact on system performance. Taking into account various sources of correlation - node locations, channel, and traffic - we aim at deriving expressions for the correlation coefficient of the overall interference power received at a certain point in space. Based on such expressions, we analyze the overall outage rate and throughput of cooperative diversity schemes.

Last Call - Nominations for TCCC Awards Due Monday

Dear All,

The TCCC Outstanding Service Award is bestowed upon a person in recognition of excellent service rendered to the computer communications community over a long period of time.

Recipients of the award are selected on an annual basis by an awards committee. The committee for this year comprises Marwan Krunz, Ariel Orda, Mostafa Ammar, and Dan Massey.

Please email your nominations to tcccawards-iHoFleiMNoHjJfczE7aDavZ8FUJU4vz8< at >public.gmane.org by May 20th, 2013. There is no specific nomination form. Please send the name of the nominee, a brief biography (or URL pointing to a bio/CV), and, most importantly, a brief description of the individual's service to the computer communication community. Self nominations are accepted.

We sincerely hope that you will participate in this important part of the committee's work.

This is the last call for nominations. If you plan to nominate someone (or yourself), please submit your nomination by Monday May 20th.

Thank you
