<pre>Hi,

I am using TigerVNC-1.2.0-6, server and viewer, on two computers running
Linux.
On the computer hosting the server I would like to run the password
program KeePass, but I cannot get copy to work in that program.
If I run Keepass local, i.e. not through TigerVNC, I can copy a password
in KeePass, it shows up in the clipboard and I can paste it wherever I
want. But, if i run KeePass on the server through TigerVNC nothing
happens when I try to do a copy. In all other programs (at least the
ones I have tried it on) copy works as expected.
Anyone that has a clue to what the issue might be?

Many thanks for any support!

/Mats

<pre>Hi All,

Sorry if this is duplicated, I sent the original two days ago and haven't seen it yet.

I have two machines running RHEL 6.2. I am using tiger vnc-1.0.90 viewer on one machine and the same version of the server on the other. The machine with the viewer has two monitors. I'd like to be able to run a full screen VNC session on one monitor and be able to use the second monitor for local tasks. What i get when I run the client in fullscreen is that the mouse works fine between the two monitors, i.e. i can click and launch firefox on the local head while the other head is in fullscreen mode, but the keyboard does not follow the mouse focus. As a result, if I click the firefox address bar on the local head and start typing, the keystrokes go to the remote session. Everything works fine in windowed mode.

Is it possible to have the keyboard focus follow the mouse focus, or am I out of luck?

Thanks

could help me with a problem. I'm trying to run VNC on my local machine as
both the server and client. I have a dual monitor setup working with each
at a resolution of 1920x1080. I want to run VNC in fullscreen mode and
occupy both monitors. I launch it with

vncserver -geometry 3840x1080 :1

Then I connect with

vncviewer FullScreen=1 :1

But the problem is it only creates a session of size 1920x1080, split
between the two monitors with black space on the other side. I know I've
gotten this to work on other computers in the network with similar setups,
so I'm not sure what's wrong with mine. I didn't find anything on a search.
Thanks.

Every time I click on TigerVNC Viewer, i need to fill the full path of

I believe turboVNC remembers last used server and can even get to

I am using TigerVNC version 1.2.0 on Windows-7 64bit.

Thanks in Advance.

<pre>Hi there,

I have a situation where a vnc client from windows can connect to a vnc
server on windows (both win7). But from a Linux client (Fedora 14 or 15)
it won't work.

The windows server runs Tightvnc and freesshd. On the windows client,
both the native and the java tightvnc viewer works. tigervnc also works
fine. I use putty to create the ssh tunnels

On the linux client, I tried tigervnc (which is the one included by
Fedora) and the tigervnc java viewer, both failed. tigervnc (vncviewer
command) fails with:

CConn: connected to host localhost port 5900
  main: End of stream

The Java tightvnc viewer gives EOFException

I know the ssh connection works on linux because I can type cmd.exe
commands. If I use the native ssh client (openssh) the ssh connections
is terminated when any vnc client tried to connect with errror:

buffer_get_ret: trying to get more bytes 4 than in buffer 0
buffer_get_string_ret: cannot extract length

But if I use putty on linux the ssh connection keeps work</pre>

<pre>Hi all:

I immediately hit these when upgrading: (Windows 7 / 64-bit)

1) My .vnc files no longer work. And it doesn't seem like I can "Save"
options any more? For those of us who use VNC heavily, and have several
of these files to maintain settings, this is a huge step backwards.

2) The logo for vncviewer.exe is missing, which also means that the .vnc
files all looked busted. Is this a bug?

3) Full screen mode now displays scroll bars cutting off the screen and
making it inconvenient to scroll around. It's always been excellent at
this - panning to reach the edges instead of scrollbars, especially when
it only needed an extra pixel or so (I think TigerVNC itself loses a
pixel somehow?). With scroll bars, the interface is effectively unusable
for those of us who use VNC as a remote desktop. Sure, I could make the
resolution of the target display 1344x766 or some odd value and lose
pixels... but why?

I checked the mailing list archives, and I don't think I understand. The
release announcement fo</pre>

<pre>Hi,

I've tried to follow the build instructions I found here
http://tigervnc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tigervnc/buildscripts/xc/
I've installed MinGW, MinGW-w64, JDK, CMake 2.8, libjpeg-turbo (when
installing 32 it doesn't let you install the 64 version), and GnuTLS
but than I'm not sure what to run.
The buildtiger script is a bash script, how can I run it on windows?

Do I have to use a 64bit XP machine to build or can I use a 32bit machine?

If it's easier to cross compile on linux, can you please explain how?
The readme left it as an exercise for the reader.

Is it suppose to work on vista and win7?

When compiling the windows version, will I get a portable executable file
or will it make any changes to the registry or other files on the system?

Thanks

<pre>I've had the issue of the vncserver not starting after a bad restart
where the /tmp/.X11-unix/X79 file has not been deleted during the
shutdown (Usually a power outage).

My current solution has been to have a script in cron.hourly that
checks if the status is running, and if not it deletes the
/tmp/.X11-unix/X79 file and then starts the service.

Is there a better method to have it delete the file during the start
process? Not sure if something else is supose to delete this file if
it wasn't deleted during a normal shutdown.

Before I would have to manually ssh into the machines to delete
the file, and manually restart the service. (now systemctl).

Fedora 16 by the way.

<pre>I am using TigerVNC 1.1.90 Mac OSX (10.7.3) to connect to a linux machine
(LinuxMint 12 KDE) on my LAN running linux generic kernel 3.0.0.16.
Sometimes when I connect, the keyboard seems to have the Caps Lock
engaged--all characters typed are uppercase. However, this is not
consistent. It seems to be "random", but I have not isolated the variables
that trigger this behavior. I have seen previous posts indicating that
this was a bug that had been fixed, but perhaps it has cropped up again.

It could be relevant that I am using an IBM Model M keyboard connected via
a usb switch, and I have remapped the Caps Lock key to be the Apple
Command key. This has worked out extremely well for most applications.

Otherwise, TigerVNC is excellent. I get good speed and image quality even
at full screen on 2 monitors at 1920x1200, and I can remotely run
graphics-intensive applications on the linux machine, such as YASARA for
molecular modeling.

Thanks.

- Should I use IPsec?
- Should I beat the crap out of and thoroughly limit OpenVPN to make

TigerVNC 1.1.90 crashing on Windows XP

<pre>Hello all,

I would like some help troubleshooting an issue with TigerVNC version
1.1.90 (built on Dec 31 2011 at 12:31:22). The machine is a Windows
XP Media Center Edition. I'm running VNC in service mode. The
crashes seem pretty frequent when I'm trying to use VNC. It seems
that opening Internet Explorer may trigger the crash. Here is the
info Windows gives for the error:

Error signature
szAppName: winvnc4.exe szAppVer: 1.1.90.0 szModName: unknown
szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset: 00000000

Any ideas? Is there any other logging I can turn on to provide more
information?

How to use existing running X server as a vncserver? - again

<pre>People,

On the server (Fedora 14 x86_64) I have installed:

   tigervnc-server-module-1.0.90-0.25.20100813svn4123.fc14.x86_64

and I have created /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-vnc.conf with lines:

Section "Module"
     Load "vnc"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
     Identifier "VNC"
     Option "SecurityTypes" "VncAuth"
     Option "UserPasswdVerifier" "VncAuth"
     Option "PasswordFile" "/home/phil/.vnc/passwd"
EndSection

and created the vncpasswd, restarted X, (and eventually rebooted),
tried to connect from a client machine with:

   vncviewer server:0
   vncviewer server:5900:0

but whatever I do I still get the "111" error . .

It appears that there is just nothing listening on the 5900 port?
(confirmed with ps and netstat).

I want to get this working because I have been using x11vnc recently
but it seems to crash X regularly (once a day) . .

Any help would be appreciated . .

Thanks,

Phil.

Composite extension, why was it removed?

<pre>Why was the composite extension completely removed from the TigerVNC
package? I found a post in the list SVN annouce archive that said it
was incompatible with some legacy systems and provided bad results,
and in new systems its not required at all.

My suggestion is that Composite extension is readded to the TigerVNC
package, but default disabled, and has to be enabled with +composite.
(2 new commandline options could be added: +/-composite : Enables or
disables composte extension, like +/- render), then it wont cause any
problems with legacy RHEL &lt; 5 systems.

I currently use VNC to serve a application terminal server via xinetd
via Xvnc -inetd, and its numerous applications that REQUIRE
"composite" to be present and refuse to launch at all if Composite is
not present.
Even if its works bad, does bad rendering and is incompatible with
some systems, at least make it available for enabling/disabling at the
command line "at your own risk".
