this gem and was immediately reminded of "Millenium".  Dikshit Arya pointed

Hi Friends,  The song 'Dichkion Dhoom Dhoom' from the David Dhawan's recently released movie 'Chashme Badoor' (Music Directors: Sajid-Wajid) sounds absolutely from the Pancham genre of songs. Not only the tune (Mukhda as well as the Antara) but also the rythym sounds 'Panchamish'. No wonder why i love listening to the song and have just downloaded video of the song from You Tube.

looking for Anandabazar article comparing Pancham with Tagore

A while ago, but most probably within the past year, there was an article on the editorial page of the Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika that raised the question why would Pancham not be considered in the same league with Rabindranath Tagore as a composer. The point was to question some of the dogmas that exist in our culture and in us. I am not taking sides here but can anyone point me to that article ? I thought an ardent Pancham lover might have kept the reference.

1980's pancham

i am posting after a long long time.

I feel that best work of pancham were in the 1980's. I find a certain refinement of his brilliance in rhythm, melody in 1980's song.


i tried to figure out the sequence of the films through wikipedia.roughly, it goes like this

Love story
sanam teri kasam
bemisal
Betaab
yeh wada raha
jawani
saware wali gaadi
sunny
sagar
duniya
zabardast
sitamgar

each of the above titles are masterpieces & pancham gave his best . To me ,these titles are refined works of pancham from the learnings of 70's(i mean i have also listened to most of his 70's work & adore them. 80's work is more mature stuff (what with kishore's voice also maturing )

of the above lot, Betaab is unique. Look how he made shabbir kumar sing. and the beautiful orchestration with indian touch this time. The lazy rain song " badal yu garajta hai"( beautiful interludes in between, out of this world. i wait for the interludes & keep wondering from where it came to him & how he instrumented them).                       A few days ago in one of the programme THE GOLDEN ERA WITH ANU KAPOOR, Anu Kapoor mentioned about a movie called Raaz which was shelved later on.
 In this movie Panchamda had composed a couple of songs which was later on used in CHHOTE NAWAB.
                           
                       I would like to know which were those two songs.
