<pre>I have had Guitar Synths since 1981 when I bought a Roland G 505/GR 300, and have purchased nearly every new system since right up to my purchase last month of the Fishman Triple Play. I have owned many guitars with Factory 13 pin outputs, and had internal kits installed in many also, always preferred them to the "add on" systems. I highly criticized Line 6 for not offering an "official" internal install kit, or allowing other manufacturers to install their Variax systems, ( except Parker in a $5.000.00 guitar), as, although their James Tyler Variax guitars are very VERY good quality instruments, I have always believed it is important to have an instrument you are comfortable with.

After playing the FTP for a month, installed on 2 pro level Ibanez Prestige Guitars, I am astounded by the accuracy, and am beginning to wonder how Roland dropped the ball. I have been on a recording Frenzy finishing many projects that had frustrated me after realizing the limitations of the so called "state of the art" GR-55, </pre>

<pre>Hi all,

I have owned a Casio PG-380 for over 20 years. In those years, I have done some simple yet extremely positive modifications like the removal of the "locking nut" system and replacing it with locking tuners, roller string trees, graphite nut and a much better whammy bridge (smoother, better responsiveness, able to lock down...etc). In addition, I have had all (and I mean all) the caps replaced, including all on the motherboard, and daughter board(s).

As a result, the guitar plays better than new (did I mention that the frets are nearly brand new and have just been leveled and dressed for very low action without any dropouts).

To make matters more fun, I own three blank RAM cards and a VZ-10M so that you can make any sound you what and transfer it to the guitar. The icing on the cake is the addition of both the US and European ROM cards which add 128 sounds each (256 more sounds than the ones built in to the guitar itself).

However, in recent years, I have moved away from electric guitar to playing</pre>

<pre>Are there any sites that host downloads for the older versions of editors for the Axons?
I have a AX-50 that when connected to a Win7 64bit machine, the usb ports are available in the dropdown menu. But if on a XP machine, the usb ports aren't showing up. Since they killed the only sources on the web, I'm having to ask for an alternate source. Anyone have the XP version on the editor? And would that make any difference? With the forums gone, a simple question like this could have been found just by doing a search.....

<pre>Joel C, being a gr1 enthusiast this might be more for you. I'm using a gr33, steel and nylon multiacs. First off, the nylon tracking compared to steel is noticeably glitchier. It doesn't like slides much at all. I have played around with sensitivity settings but it's still not on par with the steel multiac. Is the gr1/nylon some sweet alchemy or what? The gr1 goes so cheap these days I think I'll pick one up. Does the sequencer lend itself well to live application? I would think the 1 song(or even 2 w/expansion card) might be kind of limiting in a live context unless you can use it seamlessly like a looper.

I'll find out soon enough, but can anyone shed some light on this?

In a demo video I heard the rep mention a VST and Stand-alone editor. Is this the case? If so, with the VST editor can the Triple Play receive CCs and program changes within a DAW environment?
For instance, could one send a CC to the Triple-play to say, mute a string? Also does the VST show up as an instrument or an effect in the DAW?

Thanks

GR 55 Blend switch - help

<pre>Hello all,

Well I have a gr-55 and probably have no business owning this thing, lol. I also have a Godin LGX-SA and a Godin Freeway.

My issue is that I did something that is causing my blend switches and volume controls to not work right.

This is a breakdown of what is happening.

1. All volume controls on the guitar are turned off but yet there is still sound coming through the amp.

2. I am not getting a correct sound then when I toggle back on my guitar to a different patch and then back up to where I was it seems to kick it in. Hard to explain. I just toggle down then back up and bang it kicks in.

Can anyone help with an idea of what is going on? I sure do appreciate it. This thing is starting to drive me crazy.

As far as tones well I won't push the envelope but I wish I could get some better acoustic and Telecaster tones. I know I probably bit off more than I should have buying this thing but I spent $900.00 on it and then the two guitars so I feel like I can't turn back now. Also I still hav</pre>

<pre>As I posted on vguitarforums, this bit in the FTP instruction manual bugs me:

"however, the performance may not be as smooth as what you’ve experienced in standalone TriplePlay. That’s because we’re not yet running through the TriplePlay software, which modifies the raw MIDI data from your guitar to compensate for your particular touch on the instrument, and which takes into account such guitar techniques as string-bends, hammer-ons, and pull-offs."

So.....we have to run the FTP software at all times, so it removes the glitches? That's what it sounds like to me. How's that going to work on the iPad then, since there's no such thing as a plugin?

Ugh.

Anybody have any awesome Patch Settings For Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer?

<pre>I just got my new Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer and was dissapointed that my 3 way blend switch (Guitar, Mix, Synthesizer )on my Roland GK-2A &amp; Roland GK-3 picup/scontrollers didn't work as it did on my old Roland GR-30 Guitar Synthesizer and was told by Roland Factory Support in Los Angeles,CA (now only available to speak to 3 days a week)that it was designed that way and I had to reprogram every patch to have Guitar only available!
I thought maybe one of my fellow MIDI musicians would have a better solution and I could sure use it!
Also any suggestions and steps for reprogaming the user patches and in what order are you setting them to to play live would sure would be appreciated especially for:
Fender Telecaster/Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul/335/345, Rickenbacker, Guild, Martin guitars with and without special effects,

Acoustic/ Grand/ Electric/ and Honkey Tonk Pianos, Fiddle, Mandolin, Pedal Steel Guitar, Dobro &amp; Resonator Guitar, Harmonicas,

Synthesizers,String Ensembles, String Quartets, Violin</pre>

Favored non-permanent MIDI pickup system?

<pre>Folks,

Which non-permanent MIDI pickup system would you place on a vintage guitar? It appears there aren't many games in town, with the Roland GK3 being prevalent.

I'd also be interested in finding out which pickup systems, new or old, provide the smallest footprint (for the control system.)

Thanking you

Questions for Andras on pitch bends and stored set up info

<pre>Hey Andras;
I have NI's Komplete which includes Kontakt, and while most of their other instruments allow for 24ST of pitch bend, enabling me to play like a guitarist, Kontakt does not.
The same thing goes for the ios version of sample tank.
Will Kontakt and sample tank for FTP have pitch bending abilities so we can play as normally as possible? If so how? If so could it be used for standard versions of Kontakt and sample tank?
I have sent 3 emails to IE to see if they would enable sample tank for pitch bend settings of 24 ST and have gotten 2 side stepped messages in return, and one message mostly conveying a "didn't give a flip attitude' about it, and how lucky I am to be able to have sample tank at all.
I had great success with several other dev. with this issue.
Thumb Jam dev. took about 2 weeks to set it up for 24 ST, and has top notch instrument patches, and quite nice features.
Nano Studio dev. took about the same time to enable the 24 ST. This app is top notched in quality of sound and ease of use a</pre>
