Anything related to vmailmgr is now almost a decade old, and no discussion about news or patches has been done for years. Now with PHP 5.4 dropping "register_globals" even oMail-admin has stopped working, and it's another piece of software out of updates since 2003. It was written for PHP4 with some early compatibility for PHP5, and it's been a miracle it was working safely until PHP5.3. I'm not crying for no updates, because if things are fine there's no reason to do them. But when the toolchain changes things stop working because this has been deprecated, that has been removed, etc.etc. qmail itself is abandonware, excluding netqmail and spamcontrol patches. But it's still rock solid, and that's enough. Compiling fails with: The reason is strcasestr() which is defined in checkvpw.cc, but also exists in glibc. This didn't hurt until now, because both were declared the same way, but now in glibc 2.10 the declaration changed slightly: strcasestr() returns "const char *" instead of "char *", and this results in the above error. The easy fix is to delete strcasestr() from checkvpw.cc, this is what the attached patch does.
