<pre>Hi guys!

I'm John, a HS sophomore from Los Angeles. Very recently, I kickstarted an
idea about making Ubuntu the main OS within John Marshall High School, a
dilapidated high school, still standing and reeking of age, that has been
using Windows XP for a decade now. For those who haven't heard, I have a
post about it:
http://epikvision.blogspot.com/2012/05/game-changing-proposal-ubuntu-for.html

here's the situation: although I created a proposal, I did not hand it in
to the administration just yet (we only got one shot at this). David Montes
and I are trying to build a support base and handy foundation of research
data. We see three primary audiences: teachers, students, and the
administration. The best way to go, we decided, is one audience at a time.

So, now that I'm trying to get students' attention,* I would like to hear
ideas and suggestions on marketing techniques and ways to rouse student
interest*. In my school, it's mighty difficult to spark students' interest
of an OS that most has never hear</pre>

I have gotten a booth for BerkeleyLUG (actual title is - "Bay Area Linux
Groups") at the maker faire in two weeks - http://makerfaire.com/. I am
hoping a couple people from Ubuntu California can make it to help man the
booth and show off the latest and greatest stuff in Ubuntu. Let me know if
you are interested - I should have some free or discounted tickets
available.

Elizabeth - can I get some disks? :)

Sometimes it works and sometimes does't after a reboot. It's a Logitech

It was working fine on Ubuntu 11.10 and after an online upgrade this
intermittent condition started.
It's happening at a friends house and I am trying to get a clue what is
going on.

The WEB seems to report others having this difficulty but I couldn't find a

closely enough for me to subscribe and follow it.

Any thoughts?

<pre>Hi everyone,

As mentioned here[0] I requested the team's allotment of CDs (250 x
32-bit Desktop, 50 x 64-bit Server) and they have arrived! I'm taking
care of distribution again this time around, I'll be able to start
shipping them out in the next few days.

If you would like some CDs, please contact me at lyz-GeWIH/nMZzLQT0dZR+AlfA&lt; at &gt;public.gmane.org with
your name, address and purpose for request (Need some for your school
or library? Handing out at a small event?).

If you are in the same area as someone else in the team who needs CDs
please try to request them together as I'm paying for these shipping
costs out of pocket and it's cheaper to send larger packages than
several small ones.

This is the only shipment the team gets per cycle, so please don't
waste these CDs and request only a limited number to suit your needs!
Follow these tips to help stretch our supply:

1. At tech events, inform (maybe hand out cards with instructions?)
users that they can download and burn an ISO:

My Ubuntu system will not login. This may involve the "Gnome keyring"? I
do not understand how this problem developed. I have NO knowledge or
systems experience in working with Ubuntu. I am only an end user without
technical Ubuntu knowledge.

After connecting a USB 5.25 inch Floppy Drive to my computer, the system
began displaying
a "Login" screen. This "login" screen did not display prior to my
connecting the USB drive.

Another problem started, while the computer is connected to a router, the
system
displays "Wireless Connection working"? However, no internet connection
exists?

I tried following the "Auto-Unlock Keyring Manager In Ubuntu Intrepid".
The instructions
do not support the actual screen displays.

Does anyone know of a method to eliminate the "Login" requirement? How to
override the
"Gnome keyring"?

I have tried entering every password I know. Nothing works. Does anyone
know how to eliminate this Login screen? Security is not an issue.

<pre>Hi everyone,

At our meeting on Sunday night it was brought to our attention that
we'd never actually said anything on list when Ubuntu Developer Summit
registration opened - oops!

Registration is indeed open now: http://uds.ubuntu.com/register/

As you go through registration you will notice that many of the fields
may seem somewhat silly for folks who aren't traveling. If you're
attending all 5 days but aren't actually traveling to get there, for
arrival and departure times you can put 09:00 PDT on Monday,
2012-05-07 as start and 18:00 PDT on Friday, 2012-05-11 as end (these
are the official times of the summit).

Registration is open to anyone interested in learning about and
contributing to the Ubuntu process. It is free, includes lunch at the
summit each day, but you must register to attend.

The current schedule is pretty empty right now (it tends to fill up
just a week or so before the summit), but you can get an idea of what
to expect by check out the list of sessions at the last UDS by going

Meeting tonight, Sunday April 8th at 7PM

<pre>Hi everyone,

Tonight, Sunday April 8th, we're having our regularly scheduled
bi-weekly LoCo meeting at 7pm PT in #ubuntu-us-ca on irc.freenode.net

For help connecting to IRC with a client, see:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InternetRelayChat

Or simply join us via your web browser by going
here:http://ubuntu-california.org/chat/

We don't really have anything on our agenda, but we do have the 12.04
release coming up this month and the Ubuntu Developer Summit in May to
talk about.

The meeting page is available here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CaliforniaTeam/Meetings/12April8

And as always, logs will be available after the meeting and you're
welcome to add your comments here on the mailing list if you're unable
to attend.
