Just wanted to email an update. As I can see from the shipping reports a
lot of teams should have received their packs already, some packs are
still in transit so please be patient. If there are any teams that have
not submitted their request for packs please do so via the online form

If you are still awaiting your CD packs and are concerned that your
request form was denied then please feel free to send me a email too

Blender's Open Movie
Projects<http://www.blender.org/features-gallery/blender-open-projects/>
have already proved that it's possible to produce stunningly high-quality
3D animated films exclusively using free software in a studio setting. Now,
a new animated short film called Tube <http://urchn.org/media>, inspired by
the ancient epic poem of Gilgamesh, is expanding on that work to bring free
culture to the masses. The Tube project is not merely evidence of the
technical capabilities of free software tools like

impressive aspect of the project is that it has managed to come together

I thought that the LoCo Council would have invite the LoCos to

"Hey you, you have to be in the reapproval next month" giving the LoCo
teams like
a month or so to prepare the meeting.

and a final question next LoCo Council meeting is on May 15th? as on
the LoCo council wiki is the april's meeting schedule.

Ubuntu 12.04 Online Tour for LoCos

Hi all,

I'm very excited to announce the availability of the Ubuntu Online Tour
for LoCo teams to localize and use in their sites. The tour has been the
result of the stunning work done by Ant Dillon from the Web Design Team
and should provide a web-based first impression of Ubuntu to new users,
in their language.

Where is it?
------------

- The code lives on https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-online-tour
- You can translate it on
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-online-tour

How can I use it for my LoCo website?
-------------------------------------

If you've already translated the tour in Launchpad, you can build a
localized version in 3 easy steps:

1. Get the code:
    bzr branch lp:ubuntu-online-tour/12.04

2. Build the localized tour:
    cd 12.04
    cd translate-html/bin
    ./translate-html -t

3. Deploy the tour:
- This will vary depending on your setup, so simply make sure you copy
the chromeless, css, img, js, pie and videos folders along with the
videoplayer.swf file to your site. In addi

Hello people

We have 2 release parties so far. One in Cape Town and one in Pretoria.

Cape Town : Friday 27 May 10-13:00 Shuttleworth lab UCT -
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-za/1665/detail/
Pretoria: Saturday 5 May 10-13:30 Karoo Land and Cattle in Irene -
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-za/1695/detail/

I am hoping to organise a casual Ubuntu Hour/ after party in Stellenbosch
too so I can catch up with the everybody who was in holiday.

A <insert snack>, a <refreshing beverage of choice>, a friend and a laptop
upgrading to pangolin also counts as a release party if you take photos. :D

I have ordered CDs and I'll let everybody know when they get here.

Hi all

I have been helping our team contact (drubin) for ubuntu-za as he has been
busy, so I have been taking on more roles, effectively becoming the team
contact. We changed the team contact in launchpad to reflect this but we
can't change it in loco.ubuntu.com. The loco.ubuntu.com team contacts list
does not have my username in it.

My question is, which team contact is used for ordering CDs? the launchpad
one or the loco.ubuntu.com.

My second question is how do I change the team contact on loco.ubuntu.com

Then too I want to tell everybody that since David is very busy, I am happy
to take on the ubuntu-za/South African Ubuntu team contact role.

Hello Ubunteros,

The IRC workshop extravaganza known as Ubuntu OpenWeek is ready to go.
For those of you not in the know, this is a weeklong (sort of) IRC
event where we have instructors and classes on various topics in
Ubuntu. The wiki page is now ready to go:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOpenWeek

I am looking for instructors (especially those of you who have never
given a workshop before) to give classes on Ubuntu. This can range
from "How do I use Unity?" to "How do I contribute to Ubuntu
development. So if you're interested in participating, grab a slot or
ping me offlist.

Of note, we've shortened the "week" to Wednesday through Friday, but
the amount of sessions are the same, the days are just a bit longer so
we can cover more time zones.
