Hello everybody

The next issue of our beloved MINOTAUR is making steady progress... but we still need an ADVENTURE for it.

Sadly, all my efforts over the last months to renew contact with our friend Andrew Pearce have failed - Andrew has left me enough material for the two next issues... but NOT the next parts of his "Spear of Tamro" trilogy. Which means we'll have to find at least another scenario for the next webzine. Of course, I hope to be able one day to publish the rest of the Tamro epic... but this is simply completely beyond my control as of today. But let's get back to the issue at hand.

Our fellow Minotaurian has sent me a very interesting scenario outline called "The Megara of Demeter", which I've just uploaded in the Files section. I'd like to turn this into a fully-fledged adventure for next issue; it has great ideas and a lot of potential, but Darren and I agree on the fact that it's more, in this current state, a "mini-scenario" than a complete adventure. I'm completely swamped in various o

Have I made the first Hardback version of M & M in existence?

Has someone else done it first?

How many of you have printed out M&M?

I have noticed a disturbing trend in recent M&M modules. The monsters have hordes of treasure including various mythic items. This model of distributing treasure has been adopted from a medieval fantasy game, one of the recent imitators of M&M. This is not at all in the spirit of M&M and our source inspirations.

In the original greek myths, often heroes were visited by the gods and given a quest and loaned powerful artifacts to help with that quest. It was expected that at the end of the quest, the hero would then return the artifacts of the gods they had been loaned.
For example: Athena loaned Perseus her shield, Hades' helm of invisibility, and Hermes' winged sandals. (In Clash of the Titians he got a slightly different assortment of artifacts)

This should be the usual model of mythical items for the Heros of M&M. At the beginning of the quest, the god/dess or king or Priest/ess or nymph who sends them on the quest loans them a few powerful artifacts to help with the ques

It seems like the second part of the "Spear of Tamro" adventure won't be ready for the next issue of the webzine - which I'd really like to release before 2013. Of course, as soon as Andrew's adventure is ready, it will be published in one form or another, perhaps as a standalone (and, of course, 100% free)... but this means that the next Minotaur currently has no adventure scenario and I would hate to break our long-standing tradition of including at least one complete adventure in each issue... so the bottom line is this:

I NEED A COMPLETE, FULLY-WRITTEN M&M ADVENTURE ASAP !

Volunteers should contact me at my usual e-mail address (see the "Contact Me" link on the main M&M website).

Hello Olivier,

I have made a few guess as to the real world inspirations for some of the cultures of Mythika.

Would you be so kind as to name which cultures inspired which? It would be nice to read up both the fictional and real world cultures.

Thanks,

HN

Hello everybody

I've just added the "Atlas of Mythika" version of the Three Cities Gazetteer (originally published way back in Minotaur n°2) to the "Minotaur Classics" page.

http://mazesandminotaurs.free.fr/classics.html

It is essentially the same material, with a few corrections here and there (and a few stats updates to make it 100% Silver Jubilee-compatible). I've even added a few new paragraphs here and there - most notably the list of the Ten Tasks of Tharsus of Heraklia. :)

I intend to treat all the published Gazetteers in the same manner over the next few months.

Meanwhile, still working on the next issue of the Minotaur webzine (and still waiting for some very important material, so I can't really give you a firm release date here, other than "ASAP" :)).

(Not really M&M, but close enough)

The first tome of "LES DERNIERS ARGONAUTES", a graphic novel trilogy which I have written (along with my friends J-B Djian and Nicolas Ryser), has just been released - it's in French, obviously. It is set in a grim version of mythic Greece and related the very last heroic quest of the great hero Jason, now an old and embittered warrior who has lost everything; together with a "Magnificent Seven"-like crew, he embarks on a desperate quest to end the "Silence of the Gods"...

Needless to say, I am really, really delighted to share this information with you.

I have dedicated this first tome to my wife Sylvie... and "to all Mazes & Minotaurs players"... with the obligatory "Shield wall!", of course.

In addition to the updating of creatures, there are some clarifications and 10 new "interesting features" (constructions and natural features will both go from 2d6 to 3d6, resulting in a total of 36 possible tourist attractions).

Maybe everybody already knew about this, but I found this handy Wikipedia page while prepping Cult of the Scorpion God (starting an OM&M game on realroleplaying.com). Let's face it, a Maze Master is going to need to name a lot of islands and you can't call all of them things like "Isle of the Angry Harpies", because (a) that sometimes gives too much away and (b) nobody really wants to call their home that.
