T-34 expends extra MP to enter wooden bldg containing 2 enemy squads, one w/DC - OVR is not declared. can the squad with DC attack the T-34 with the DC as non-CC Reaction Fire if no OVR declared? can the enemy squads attack T-34 as CC reaction fire, even though no OVR declared? can the DC be used in it's own hex vs OVR if defending unit with DC is not Japanese, or vehicle that would be attacked is not in VBM?

thanks,

<pre>Hi Guys -

I had a great time at West Coast Melee (as always).
Thank you to everyone who makes it happen, and to all my opponents.
My top 5 WCM XVI moments (see attached pic):

5. Driving to WCM, when that feeling finally hits that, yes, I really
am off to 4 days of playing ASL. YeeHaw!

4. Receiving the personalized plaque for doing well at last year's WCM
XV just as I was being beaten and thus eliminated from WCM XVI.
Definitely mitigated my anguish.

3. Seeing Paul's ASL T-shirt quilt, composed of 8 past WCM shirt
designs and accoutrements. Finally, something to do with my 30+ ASL
shirts! I sense a business opportunity here...

2. Presenting Jim Aikens with the present we all signed expressing our
tremendous gratitude for him being such a great and long-serving club
president.

1. Getting to hang out and play ASL with so many long time ASL buddies
(most of whom have eyesight in decline, can't stay up past 11 pm, and
wouldn't want to be anywhere else - just like me!).

Thanks again guys - see you next year</pre>

Not getting any immediate takers on my recent
posting on Game-Squad for a VASL PBEM
opponent for a playing of the Operation

going old-fashioned and posting on

I am also interested in doing the Festung

I prefer a reasonably experienced ASLer

my ASLl Comrades. In the wake of Dispatches from the Bunker
#36 shipping
out just after the Nor'Easter tournament, we now have all
Dispatches
Back Issues available as pdf. files.

This latest
issue is going to be the last paper issue that I will be mailing
out as we
transition to pdf. file format going forward. I have run out of almost
all the
paper back-issues, all that is left are #34, #35 &amp; new Issue #36.
Anyone
looking to grab them before they are gone, see ordering Info down
towards the
bottom of this update.

Speaking of
pdf. issues, through a ton of help from Ralph McDonald, we now
have all
Dispatches Back Issues available at a nominal charge. Any issue
that has
all original content still in it is $3.00, any issue that saw something
re-published
by MMP will have that page removed, and an informational page
in its place
telling you what MMP publication to find it in, those issues are
just $2.00
Each (#01, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08. 10, 13, 16, 17, 18 &amp; 19). </pre>

last week-end I and 15 other guys met in Lyon, France, for a small
tournament that's been happening for several years now. The attendance
was mostly French (obviously) with people from Lyon, Marseille and
Lille. But there was an international element with yours truly from
nearby Switzerland, as well as Tim "American by birth, French by heart"

far from my place. Great fun and excellent food was had by all :-) Many
thanks to Lionel Dondé and his team for organizing this.

I will not go too much into the details of the tournament, let's just
say I finished at rank 12 out of 16, my best performance so far. For
more details, use either your highschool French skills or Google

<pre>Can a squad in the same or adjacent hex as a pillbox throw a DC into the
pillbox in an effort to resolve the attack as a Set DC? My read of B30.31
is no, only units inside a pillbox may throw a DC out, not vice versa.
However the language at the very end of B30.31 "or Placed/Thrown from and
to within" is confusing. If permissable to throw a DC into a pillbox, how
is that resolved - 36fp with minus 3 drm for units inside pillbox, 30fp
with a +2 drm (+3 if in Advancing Fire Phase) for units who threw it?

Rules Question - Intensive Fire

<pre>
The good folks on Game Squad are giving me differing answers so I though I'd try this list.

In plain English:

Suppose a Gun fires during the MPh and does not retain ROF (and is therefore marked with a First Fire counter), and then it fires at an adjacent target during the DFPh vs. with Intensive Fire, does case D apply in addition to case F? Or can it even fire at all? Does the target really have to be adjacent?

Relevant rules:
A8.4 [Final Fire]: "Any such units/weapons that are marked with a First Fire counter may also fire again . . . but as Area Fire"
C.4 "If the firer's status would impose Area Fire Case D applies"
C5 Table: Intensive Fire (... Case B, D, AFPh, stunned, pinned firer are NA).

The table would seem to indicate that you wouldn't be able to fire at all (like you can't fire IF if you are stunned or pinned). Rule A8.4 is really unclear whether it applies to this situation at all (especially in light of A8.41). Regardless, no one seems to be applying Case D in this situation (</pre>

ASL New VFTT Out Now

<pre>Hi Everyone,

The new issue of VFTT is out now, and can be downloaded by visting
http://www.vftt.co.uk.

It's also coming up to that time of the year when the VFTT website
hosting fees are due for renewal, and due to continuing unemployment I'm
looking for donations to help towards the costs.
To encourage everyone to donate, I've got a copy of the rare March
Madness 2012 Double Blind scenario pack to give away as a prize. You can
view a review of it at Mark Pitcavage's Desperation Morale website here -
http://www.desperationmorale.com/worldofasl/worldkc.html#doubleblindpack
Everyone who donates $5 (or more if you want) before midnight UK
time on Friday 22 Feb will be entered for the draw. After that time I'll
make a Random dr to determine who gets the prize.
A list of all donors will be shown on the VFTT website - let me know
if you do not want your name displayed.
Go to http://www.vftt.co.uk and click on the DONATE button to enter
and have a chance of winning this rare scenario pack.

<pre>Hi,

I am planning to bring my kids (sons, 16 &amp; 18) and wife to the US for 10-12 days
and looking at spending the 4-5 days before the Easter weekend in Florida and
the 4-5 days after the Easter in New York. First time for the kids over there.

Any good insider tips what to see / go to?

All ideas appreciated but ASL tourneys are not gonna work this time. ;-)

Many thanks!

Lars
