Hi there,

CMFBibAT seems to export/import keywords to/from BibTeX
files with ',' as seperator between multiple keywords.
Is this the correct behavior or are keywords in BibTeX separated
using a ','? What is the "official" standard here - I am reading
finding different examples on the internet.

Hi Raphael,

I am trying to setup a fresh installed plone 4 with Bibliography and Directory support. I am planning to install CMFBib first and then FacultyStuffDirectory and then fsd.cmfbib to glue the two together. I am not sure whether all these three are actively maintained and compatible with Plone 4.

But anyway, I started with CMBbib and added Products.CMFBibliographyAT into buildout.cfg and buildout and start plone and enabled the add-on. However as I clicked on the "http://localhost:8080/plone_test/bibliography_view" link I got following error:

Hi Raphael,
I was trying to prepare a patch for your product that permit to use it with plone4.
I was working on a previous trunk release (but still 1.1.2)
I found that it necessary to replace:

If a PDF is attached to a bibliography item, it's available under

say for every entry containing a PDF, an icon and a link is displayed.
It's more easy for the user not needed to select each entry to see if a
PDF is attached. I've tried using the plone catalog to add a key for it,
but it would not work. Can you give me some hint how to make this
possible?

Hi,

We are currently considering using CMFbibliographyAT to manage the
Bibliography of our lab-website.
One feature that seems especially useful is the automatic reference of
authors to site members so we can link to the author homepage from the
publications.

Unfortunately, I have not managed to make this work. We get our member
data from an ldap server, which provides the attributes fullname,
firstnames and lastname.
The import report says: Inferred author references: ... no
corresponding member found.
Of course, we could do this manually, but this would be a tedious task,
since we have 400+ Publications to import.

If I do the mapping by hand, another problem arises. Say, a publication
has multiple authors and the author belonging to the site is not the
first author. Then the link to the author homepage moves to the
preceeding author.

Has anyone made this work? Is there anything I have to know to make this
work?

Our System setup:

Hi there,

unfortunately Plone 4.0b5 has some incompatible changes that make it
impossible to run CMFBibAT 1.1.0 with Plone 4.0b5.

Those changes include:

- - removal of the IndexIterator support
- - obviously some template/CSS changes

Current problems that must be addressed:

- - overall removal of the tabindex/IndexIterator support in CMFBibAT and
 ATExtensions

- - adjustments of the preference templates to the new markup (tabs are
not rendered properly)

- - default view of the bibliography folder renders strange

Unfortunately the latest changes in Plone 4 make it impossible for
maintaining a common codebase for CMFBibAT both for Plone 3 and Plone 4.

So CMFBibAT 1.0.X will remain the version to be used for Plone 3.X and
CMFBibAT 1.1.X will feature support for Plone 4.X only - unfortunately.

Fixing those issues either requires a volunteer for dealing with the
Plone 4 specific issues or some further funding.

hi,

I don't know anything about Reflecto, but if these files are in the
catalog, the addon BibfolderFlexibleView
(http://plone.org/products/bibfolderflexibleview/) makes it possible to
link them to bibliographic entries without much administrative overhead

This is possible in BibfolderFlexibleView. See
http://www.physik.hu-berlin.de/pmm/pub, where the pdf-links are inactive
(semi-transparent) for non-logged in users (they could also be totally
hidden, layout details can be configured rather freely)

again, possible with Bibliography Smart Folders (ATBiblioTopic -
thought they were part of the basic product but maybe they're actually
from some add-on), possibly in combination with BibFlexView. This is
also what we do at http://www.physik.hu-berlin.de/pmm/pub, where we have
one central bibfolder and sub-collections like
https://www.physik.hu-berlin.de/pmm/rabe/bibtopic or
https://www.physik.hu-berlin.de/pmm/forschung/elektron/bibtopic that
filter it.

Hope that helps,

Felix

Hi,

I have been playing around with CMFBibliographyAT to see if it can do some
of the things that I need for reference management. I have a collaborative
database of pdfs and a master .bib file with several of my colleagues on my
server that is synced with each of our databases on our personal computers.
I allow access to this folder for registered users on Plone via Reflecto. We
use a different piece of software (Jabref <http://jabref.sourceforge.net/>)
on our personal computers to manage our bibliographic data which I prefer to
Plone, so I just want basic import and export to Plone so that people
outside my collaboration circle to see our reference list. I currently do
this with some clunky scripts, bibtex2html, and Reflecto. This is what it
looks like: http://biosport.ucdavis.edu/research-projects/bicycle/references

These are the users I have in mind:

Thanks to the folks at Jarn for doing the majority of the Plone 4
port and cleanup. Thanks to the Humboldt University of Berlin for
supporting this release.

Hi there,

CMFBibAT supports storing PDFFiles on the filesystem using the optional
ExternalStorage extension. Since ExternalStorage is old and unmainainted
and the availability of blob support in Plone 4 I would consider kicking
ExternalStorage support at some point.

Questions:

- actually anyone using ExternalStorage?
- anyone having an idea how to migrate away from ExternalStorage?

Andreas

Hi there,

I just released CMFBibAT 1.1.0b1:

http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Products.CMFBibliographyAT/1.1.0b1

This version provides the same functionality as V 1.0.X but it is now
compatible with both Plone 3 and Plone 4 on top of the same codebase.

Hi there,

due to ongoing development I made the following SVN change for
Products.CMFBibliographyAT:

The current trunk moved to its own branch:

https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/Products.CMFBibliographyAT/branches/1.0

The current buildout of the trunk moved to its own branch:

https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/Products.CMFBibliographyAT/buildout/branches/1.0

The codebase on the 1.0 branch in now in maintenance mode and not open
for further development - but open for bug fixes.

The new trunk

https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/Products.CMFBibliographyAT/trunk

and its buildout

https://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/Products.CMFBibliographyAT/buildout/trunk

are now open for new development.

As a first step I merged the 'martior-plone4' branch (by Jarn?).

By doing this CMFBibliographyAT/trunk is now compatible with Plone 4!

As far as I can see there are no big issues with the Plone 4
compatibility. There is only one issue with the idcookers/normal

question about authors field

Hi all

I'm feeling a bit dim! I'd like to get a list of author dicts from the
authors field. Something like:

[{firstname:John, lastname:Smith},
 {firstname:Alice, lastname:Brown}]

I've tried the getAuthors() and getAuthorsList() methods, but both seem
to return a nicely formatted string, rather than the raw values.
Although looking through other code there's a suggestion that
getAuthors() *ought* to do what I want.

I'm using CMFBibAT 1.0 and ATExtensions 0.9.6. The CMFBibAT version,
unfortunately, is the unreleased version prior to that released after
Andreas had worked his magic. The reason I want to do this is to export
and import via quintagroup.transmogrifier - I can get export to work
fine, but can't import, so I'm trying to use an adapter in the
datacorrector pipeline to write the raw author values into the XML.

Thanks

Anne

Hello,

sorry for nerving, perhaps there is a easy way to
show the note and the annote field with ATBiblioStyles
or with CMFBibliographyAT itsself ?

Please could you tell me where where I can find the
relevant code ?

Sorry, I really don't understand why these products omit
these fields, is there a special reason ?

Hello,

there seems to be a problem when exporting a
note field with german umlauts:

* Import:

< at >Book{aaa:bbb,
author="{\"U} {\"u}",
title="eee",
year="2000",
publisher="ffff",
note="{\"U} {\"u}"
}

* HTML-Output:

Ü ü (2000)
eee
ffff.
Notiz
Ü ü

* Exported bibtex
("author" is exported correct, "note" only as reference):

< at >Book{aaa-bbc,
 author = {{\"{u}}, {\"{U}}},
 title = {eee},
 year = {2000},
 publisher = {ffff},
 note = {<BaseUnit at /Plone/aaa-bbb/note>}
}

Btw, how is it possible to show the note field in the list output
(please tell me where in the code) ?
