Spurious empty files in data/pages/

<pre>Hi,

I'm running MoinMoin 1.9.6 [release] on Scientific
Linux (A RHEL clone) 6.4.

I've moin configured so that anyone may create a
user, but users cannot create any pages unless
they are in a group, and the group page is itself
protected.

Spammers are creating users.  This is not a problem;
I detect and delete them periodically. However,
spammers are attempting to create pages and each
time this happens moin leaves an empty file in
data/pages/.

The proliferation of these files is causing problems.

It would be nice if moin only allowed a user to
attempt page creation when the user has permission,
but that's for the future. Right now I want to
know if there's a way I can prevent moin from creating
the empty files and plugging up the filesystem.

Yes, I can get rid of the pages with 'moin maint cleanpage',
and I do. But I'd much rather not have the pages
created in the first place.

Is there a solution?

Thanks for the help.

<pre>Hi all, I got some problems on a MoinMoin 1.97 instance running on a Debian
box recently upgraded from sqeeze to wheezy.
I installed MoinMoin some weeks before the upgrade following the great
guide on the official website and everything worked like a charm, all
problems started since the upgrade.
MoinMoin runs on:
- Apache 2.2.22
- mod_wsgi/3.3
- mod_python/3.3.1
- Python/2.7.3
- webserver owner "apache:apache"

I found some references on this url (
http://moinmo.in/MoinMoinQuestions/Errors#Internal_Server_Error) but
checking permissions all seems ok.
Using python as webserver and test.wsgi results ok, same result running
python as root or apache user (

<pre>Hello Moin dev

I have made some changes in MoinMoin/_tests folder for the test cases. I
have ported them to python3.3 with backward compatibility. There was not a
substantial work for that but still this port might not be for Python 3.2
as it does not support unicoded strings.

here is the link to review
https://codereview.appspot.com/9162045/

P.S. : I have talked on the IRC and got the reply from developers that
First we should concentrate on Python 3.3 then other changes can be made
afterwards to make the tests compatible for python 3.2

so What were the aims of Plugin Project ? Improving existing plugins ,
writing new plugins or any different

Moreover how much work is done I am headed to this page

some self explainatory notes on etherpad but what exactly the Plugin system
project wants from a student that must be specified well.

I read about Changing API and UI from the Project Idea page of MoinMoin
Wiki but I am still unable yo figure out

"Most of the UI, URLs, API is currently based on using NAMES for
identifying an item. But at many places, using a ITEMID or REVID instead or
additionally to a name would be better."

Does this means Working over the database with primary key most of the
times for Items NAMES but at many places ITEMID or REVID would be better.
Please correct me if wrong and please show me some example to make me more
clear and aware about the problem.

<pre>Hi everyone !
I've managed to get LDAP authentification to work with my MoinMoin
installation by using the following code in Apache configuration:

&lt;Location /wiki1&gt;
  AuthName "Wiki wiki1"
  AuthType Basic
  AuthBasicProvider ldap
  AuthLDAPGroupAttribute memberUid
  AuthLDAPGroupAttributeIsDN off
  AuthLDAPUrl "ldap://
10.27.21.6/dc=ldap,dc=c2c?uid??(|(gidNumber=1029)(sambaSID=*))"
  Require ldap-group cn=dev,ou=Groups,dc=ldap,dc=c2c
  Require ldap-group cn=mapfish,ou=Groups,ou=Externals,dc=ldap,dc=c2c
  Require ldap-group cn=sitev5,ou=Groups,ou=Externals,dc=ldap,dc=c2c
&lt;/Location&gt;

I can login with any user from dev, mapfish and sitev5 groups but all users
have read write permissions. What I need is readonly permissions for group
sitev5. I tried to do this
in /var/www/wiki/private/moin-1.9.7/MoinMoin/config/wiki1.py:

    acl_rights_before = u'-sitev5:write,delete,revert'

And nothing changed, I can still edit pages from a user in sitev5 group. So
I tried to use the whole ldap dn:
    acl_rights_before =

<pre>Hi,

I am Rubén Antón, currently 5th year student at University of Alicante,
Alicante, Spain.

I would like participe in GSoC 2013 under MoinMoin organization because
some of the project ideas seem me amazing, but the idea of designing and
building a Network API is which has got all my attention.

I have understood Network API as REST API. This REST API must implement
CRUD operations over the wiki items. These implemented operations will be
used from different points such as user interface, wiki sync and scripts.

I have been diving into MoinMoin project last days: reading the
documentation, following the tutorials to create my first wiki,... The next
step is to get familiar with the codebase. If someone can recommend some
issue to get started working in the project I will be very grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Rubén

However, ACLs are not working.

I've created pages named after the various groups that are then used in the
ACLs, but I'm getting the message "You are not allowed to view this page."

Is there any debugging I can turn on to help me understand the steps that
are being taken to check the user's ID against the group page?

Thanks.

I'm writing to ask for help installing MoinMoin on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

I use MoinMoin for about everything, from random reference material to a daily log of events. I started using it on Linux and have migrated through Windows and MAC OS-X.

I now want to run it on my Galaxy Note 2 under Android. I plan to store my data on Dropbox (or the Google cloud-drive) so I can get at it from all my machines.

Has anyone done this? If so may I ask either for directions or for some hints?

Finally, if this is something every damned fool should know, please think of me as not quite that good --- as long as you send the info

Looking for a better template in the subscription e-mail

<pre>Dear All ,

Is there way to change the subscription mail template .

I am looking for something more friendly and easy to understand the changes
. So that somebody make some changes in the post then the subscribed users
will get a friendly notification .

Currently its showing diff output and its not easy to understand the non
techie people . Is there a way to get a colored diff output , just like git
diff .

Any idea ?

MoinMoin version number not updating in footer

<pre>Hi,

I had to dig this from the archives, as I didn't find my original mail to reply to it.

After updating from 1.9.4 to 1.9.7 I still see the 1.9.4 in the footer. Just like with the other
update from 1.9.3 to 1.9.4. None of the following actions changed anything: Apache restart, clearing
the cache

I checked all /usr/lib/python*.* directories and no other MoinMoin directories are present.

# find /usr/lib/ -name "MoinMoin"
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/MoinMoin

I also switched to mod-wsgi after you suggested it.

All sys.path.insert() statements I changed and I was able to find, point to my configuration directory.

Where could the old version number be cached? It has to be somewhere right?

<pre>This release is mostly about improving password security and
password-related functionality.

For details see: http://hg.moinmo.in/moin/1.9/raw-file/1.9.7/docs/CHANGES

See http://moinmo.in/MoinMoinDownload for the release archive.

BTW, for future moin 1.9 releases, we still need many more people
helping with maintaining and updating translations on
http://master.moinmo.in/ .

So, especially if you speak some non-english language, you can help!

See http://moinmo.in/MoinDev/Translation for details.

These days we spent most of our time on developing moin2, see
http://moinmo.in/MoinMoin2.0 for details.

If you like to hack / test new stuff, have a look! Also feel invited to
help with it, so it gets ready for production sooner.

<pre>I'm trying to migrate an existing moinmoin wiki from one server to another.
I've taken a complete file copy of the original server and unpacked it into
a directory on the new server.

I've installed moinmoin into a different directory so that I can test and
check the installation of moinmoin. It is working as I expect it to.

If I soft-link to the data &amp; underlay directories that have been unpacked
from the original server, I get an internal server error when I try to
browse the front page of the site:
