Strange FTP behavior when receiving long list of faxes.

Hi, I'm developing a library for connecting to hylafax from windows
using FTP protocol.
I've some strange problem.
I launched a faxstat -vd and I saw that it use the LIST command.

-> PORT 127,0,0,1,213,33
200 PORT command successful.
-> LIST doneq
150 Opening new data connection for "doneq".
JID Pri S Owner Number Pages Dials TTS Status

if I manually connect from the same box to Hylafax FTP I cannot send
a LIST command, I receive "Invalid Command" but I can send a DIR
command that works correctly.
The strange thing is that connecting from a windows box with the FTP
from command line and I send the DIR command I obtain:

ftp> dir doneq
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening new data connection for "doneq".
226 Transfer complete.

it seems that it doesn't receive results but if I try the same
command with a directory with fewer files, for example recvq I
receive result correctly:

ftp> dir recvq
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening new data connection for "recvq".

Hello,

My question is about how HylaFAX usernames are made up and if there is
anyway to change this.

Our configuration:

hylafax-4.4.4-1rhel5 binary install
RedHat EL5
Kernel 2.6.18-92.el5

At the moment we are using the default sendmail configuration to send
notifications and do not have a email-to-fax gateway configured. We have
some custom built middleware that handles receiving fax job requests from
in-house processing applications and uses the HylaFAX GNU Java API to submit
jobs to the HylaFAX server.

The problem that I'm writting the list about is that the username when it
gets to HylaFAX is user< at >domain< at >host. In other words it looks like
faxuser< at >mycompany.com< at >172.20.19.37

This is obviously a problem when HylaFAX tries to notify the client on thier
faxjob because sendmail complains about being unable to route the email.

Our current work around is to do a little jimmy with the notification
address but ideally we would like to find out if we can change the make up
of the username.

I am trying to setup a mail to fax gateway. I'm using the mail2fax.sh
script.http://hylafax.sourceforge.net/howto/misc/mail2fax.sh
When the script submits to job to hylafax I get two fax jobs. One with the
name of the user as the phone # and one with the phone #. The one that
actually faxes is just tracing info.
I think I've narrowed the problem to this line in the script: cat
$RANDOMFAX/_message_ | faxmail -v -T $FROMPATH | sendfax -vv -n -D -f
"$FROMPATH" -i "$JOBID" -d $TONUMBER
I think faxmail is submitting the job then sendfax is as well.
Can anyone help with this?

We have a lot of incoming faxes without page breaks, e.g. forwarded rolls from thermofaxes.
Our users have problems with printing or viewing such faxes.

I find a way to automatically split tif files analogically with tiff2fax, i.e. detect faxes with long pages with tiffcheck and split it with ($TIFF2PS -a -H11.7 $fil | $PS2FAX -o $out $opt). But I lose fax information in out file.

Is there any way to retain in resulting file information about received fax?
Or more elegant way to split incoming fax on pages?

Regards,
Alexander

Hi all,

Perhaps this is not "accurate" question to hylafax mailing list but for
this solution I'd like to use Hylafax or part of it. Here is what I'd
like to do... kind of "predictive dialer". The point is I'd like to call
number and give operator "status" of this number as follows:

1) there is no such number - if it possible to distinct such signal
using fax cards?
2) number busy - this is fine and works now
3) number OK - there is signal to pick the call up - possible to distinct?
4) number is fax number - fax signal on the line - works now
5) other status - line down, no signal, etc - part of this already works
fine so shouldn't be any problem?

Such software will work this way:
1) take number
2) do a call
3) wait for "feedback"
4) adjust feedback to "case" and send status to operator.

So my "main" problem is this "wait for feedback". Is hylafax suitable
for this or perhaps there is better chose like Asterisk?

Many thanks,
Marcin

Hmm, I don't get it. I looked at the whole notify-script but I could not
find an area where the job status is checked to deliver the notification
or not. Your FaxNotify only says, when the status of the job is "done"
set the returnfiletype to pdf.
I did this for all jobs directly via the notify script, and it works
(when I start the script manually).

Even when I send a fax to a wrong number and the status of the fax is
requeued I don't get a notification.

And when I look at a job it says:

hylafax as T.30 debugger?

Hi!

I currently have some problems when using T.38 over 2,5G data networks
(EDGE). The setup is: Fax<-->ATA<--SIP+T.38-->GW<------>any PSTN fax

Decoding T.38 with wireshark did not showed me yet why faxing fails
(sometimes it works, sometimes it fails during the handshake, sometimes
it aborts after a few pages). Thus I want to go deeper and analyze the
data the fax machines are really seeing.

Thus, my idea is to use Hylafax as the PSTN fax. Unfortunately I do not
have real fax hardware, but will use a Digium card and
Asterisk+Iaxmodem+Hylafax (via loopback). Now the question is - can I
use Hylafax as T.30 debugger? Will it report the reason why some errors
happen (e.g. timeouts ...). What part of the fax decoding will happen in
iaxmodem and what will happen in hylafax? Maybe there is a tutorial you
can point me to for low level fax debugging.

thanks
klaus

Good Mornig to All,

I need your expert advise in figuring out why I am not receiving any
faxes. The system appears to be ready
but I don't know why it's not working. I have run faxsetup, and
faxaddmodem. The system is running FC9 and hylafax-4.4.2-1
Can someone please help me get this thing going? Please see below.

Thanks in Advance,

Ramon

wrong notification sending fax via winprint

Hello,

I use winprint hylafax to send pfd-files from acrobat reader.

If I set the local printer settings to the false document type (letter
instead of A4) and print to fax I got a succsessfull email notification.

In the log-file I got: TIF-File docq/doc574.ps;01 doesn't look like a 1d
G3 Fax!

And in the doneq I got: signalrate: 0

... and the fax was not sent.

How can I get the correct notification ?

Regards,

Alex

Hello all-

It appears to me that the following Linksys products are suitable for FoIP-
SPA 2102, SPA 3102 and SPA 9000
but the PAP2 are not.

Has anyone had any experience that is at odds with this? (before I go and
spend some money).

Michael

SIP vs. IAX2 - which is better for FoIP? either or the same?

(Of course using G711a/u)

This question is not about function or bandwidth, merely usability for FoIP.
