<pre>Dear friends,

I am a new user of Rockbox, I have just acquired a Sansa Clip Plus.
Would someone be prepared to help me get up and running please?
Rockbox has been put on to the device for me and when I switch on, I get a talking menu where the first item is files etc. I can scroll up and down and read the items, go to the radio etc and work that.
The problem is that if I go in to the files option, Rockbox seems to stop talking the menu names when I navigate around.
I have placed one .MP3 album in the route of the device in the music folder by connecting it to my PC with the usb cable, am I missing something here?
Am I able to configure Rockbox so that it will speak me the album names and the artest etc?

Many thanks in anticipation for any help that anyone can give.

I am trying to create talk clips for my iriver 320, and was using voice box, recently voice box has become unresponsive whenever I try to generate talk clips with it. I'm really not sure why this has happened as i've not changed anything within rockbox or my iriver.

I tried the utility to create talk clips but with no results. I cant seem to get the utility to locate a sappi voice on my computer, or any where for that matter. I have loads of sappi voices as I am blind and use them all the time.

I don't get any error messages, but do see the message failed on whatever directory I've set it to create the clips. I'm honestly confused here and cant seem to find any help on this subject on the rockbox site or even in help.

could someone who uses the utility please contact me if they could help me figure this issue out.

I do have speech enabled on my iriver and it is reading menus etc, I would like my own files to have talk clips so it's easier to select files I want to play.

if anyone could help, I'd re</pre>

so far, it's working nicely for me; there are occasional crashes and some

<pre> Hello!
I was working with some audio files recorded by my SansaClip+ player
and noticed that the waveform has some strange 'steps' (see the
screenshots linked beolow).

http://wombat.org.ua/files/SansaClip%2b-record-steps-1.png
http://wombat.org.ua/files/SansaClip%2b-record-steps-2.png

It looks like the player samples the signal at 22050 Hz, and then
duplicates each sample to fit the target 44100 Hz sampling frequency.
But it's just my supposition.

The RockBox version I use is : r29895-110517

<pre>Hi

I'm running an older version of voice box to generate voice clips for my Iriver.

Up until just now voice box was working correctly and I was able to generate voice clips. I added new files to my Iriver and wanted them to talk so I connected my player to my computer as usual and tried to run voice box.

I found I was unable to select the browse button to select my drive, and also was unable to select any other buttons. this includes using the enter key, space bar and even mouse. nothing worked or did anything.

Does anyone know why this might have happened? or have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue?

I've never updated voice box as up until now its worked fine. also using an older version of rockbox, for the same reasons.

I am blind so talk clips are an advantage to knowing what files I'm selecting on the player, so I'd really like to get this working again.

thanks

<pre>Hi everybody

I've been using Rockbox for a couple of years now, but it took the
acquisition of another iriver 5GB H10 to encourage me to risk experimenting
further, so I finally bit the bullet and installed my AT&amp;T English voice
*Audrey*....it's really great!
I then went on to create .talk files for the *Media* folder.
Again, it works fine, except that when i browse down the file list every
file is read out twice, thus:

01 - Nat King Cole - Mona Lisa
.talk 01 - Nat King Cole - Mona Lisa
02 - Jo Stafford - No Other Love
.talk 02 - Jo Stafford - No Other Love

etc.

It's not a huge problem, but how do I hide (and not get read) the .talk
iteration of each file in the list, or is this the way it is?

To Ross regarding your question about the Clip Zip

<pre>
I have a Sansa Clip Zip with Rockbox running on it, and it works "okay" with Rockbox.
The Clip Zip is still listed as being "unstable" with RB, so I was wondering if any one else has used the RB utility to try and get the .talk files and file.talk clips downloaded and running on a clip zip.
Or, since the clip zip is still listed as an unstable platform, would I be better of leaving things alone until it rises to the level of being "stable".

Hi Ross,

I don't own a Clip Zip, so I can't speak from experience. From what I was able to read, the player is doing well. I think there are still some issues with plugins. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. If you're using Rockbox and it's working well for you, I don't see why you'd have issues if you decide to install the voice file and talk files. I can tell you that I used a Sansa Clip+ as well as the Sansa Fuze when they were listed as unstable ports, and both worked well for me with voice installed. I don't think it was a dumb question.

<pre>Hi friends,

A little over a week ago, I posted a message about my inability of
installing RockBox on the Sansa Clip+ I have gotten to donate to a student.

I am pleased to announce that I have it going and even installed the high
quality voice from my computer as the preferred voice.

I have, however, one problem that I haven't quite figured how to solve.

I want Rockbox to say the name of the songs and albums as I navigate rather
than spelling them out. I noticed that in the options for the voice
directory, there is just "spell," "number" or off." What do I need to make
it work the way it ought to?

Thank you so much for helping out.

<pre>Hello all,

On behalf of the Rockbox developers, I'm very pleased to announce that
Rockbox 3.11.2 has just been released!

Rockbox 3.11.2 fixes several important bugs in Rockbox 3.11 affecting
Sandisk Sansa and Olympus m:robe 100 devices. Please see the release
notes for details:

    http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/ReleaseNotes3112

There are no functional changes.

Go here to download the installer (individual zips are also available):

Unfortunately we haven't managed to fix the outstanding serious issues
with the Ipod Nano 2g yet, so that one still isn't included in the
release.

How can i lock touch-pad in sansa fuze+? In the fuze+ manual (view

I'm using current build.

Thancs

time stretch on sansa fuze v1

<pre>Hi. I have the latest stable version on the v1 and can't get time stretch to work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. This is what I've done.
1. I enabled time stretch then turned the player off and then on again.
2. While the track was playing, I went to pitch and pressed the center button.
When I turn the scrole wheel, the pitch changes but time stretch doesn't work. I also tried pressing the wheel at the 3 and 9 position but that didn't work either. Thanks. Joe.-------------------------------------------------------------------

sansa clip plus and rockbox install problems

<pre>Hi all:
I just got a brand new sansa clip plus today.
I am trying to install rockbox on it as a totally blind user.
i run the utility.
I got the sansa clip plus firmware-the clipplus01.02.16
from the sandisk site.
The utility however gives me an error saying that this original
firmware is not known.
Your thoughts?
Do I need to downgrade my player to an older sansa firmware first?

<pre>Trying to create a voicefile on a Clip+ and getting a "The downloaded

voice file using the latest version of the Rockbox Utility and the
latest stable firmware version? I'm using Windows XP Pro and a SAPI5
voice.

Thanks,
