Questions about netinventory & SNMP models

<pre>Hello!

1) I've heard that in the future users will be able to create their own SNMP models. Do you think this feature will be available on next main version (0.83+1.0)?

2) Is it possible to use SNMP models for computers (servers) and perhaps need less installed clients (using net inventory o get more information instead of using inventory)?

3) Why do I need to send the whole snmpwalk if only a part of these information will be useful? Can I send only the OIDs (not the values - because some information is confidential)?

4) Why net inventory is not implemented stepwise: first get standard MIB (by default) and then try to get additional information using SNMP models?

Please, if some questions are not clear, just tell me, ok?

Thanks in advance!

Computer Asset Tag is very important in my organization.
I've noticed that Fusion brings it correctly in XML (BIOS node), but this information is not shown in any field.

Is there an easy way to show Asset Tag information in one of these blank fields (like "Inventory Number")?

Thanks in advance!

Doubts about FusionInventory Agent 2.2.0options

<pre> Hello to everybody,

I'm trying to write a new Microsoft Windows Installer for
FusionInventory Agent 2.2.0-x and above with NSIS (1) -see notes below-,
ExperienceUI (2), InstallOptions 2 (3) and others, like the current
installer, although perhaps it would be better to create it with NSIS +
ModernUI 2 (4) + nsDialog (5) because InstallOptions 2 is currently
deprecated.

Studying the FusionInventory Agent 2.2.0 parameters (6) raised me
some doubts. They are as follows.

   a) The official manual for FusionInventory Agent 2.2.0 (6) indicates
in its SYNOPSIS about the 'backend-collect-timeout' option:

      --backend-collect-timeout
timeout for inventory modules execution (30)

I suppose 30 (seconds) is its default value but I had news
yesterday that this value is 180 seconds and not 30.

a.1) What is the correct value?
a.2) Is there a mistake in the official manual?

   b) I suppose the embedded web server (no-httpd, httpd-ip, httpd-port,
      and httpd-trus</pre>

<pre>Hello everybody,

We're happy to announce the version 0.80+1.3 of plugins FusionInventory
for GLPI.

This version is for GLPI 0.80.x !

This version is mainly for bug fixes.
For the features, I have fixed code to get nice LLDP/CDP information
of switch (Procurve) and add support of Juniper switch (+ update SNMP
models). For these LLDP/CDP support, you will need the module
netinventory of the agent 2.x (not yet released, so wait couple of days
or test with dev version).

<pre>Hello all,

I have release the third BETA of plugins fusioninventory for GLPI 0.83.x

This version have all bugs fixed from 0.80+1.2 version released few
days ago. It pass too unit tests for snmp inventory, network discovery
and computers inventory. But tests not (yet?) test all :p

See tickets: http://forge.fusioninventory.org/versions/67
Some of these tickets will be moved to version 0.84, others are in
progress (like ticket for simplify tasks) and others will be coded in
the next week to set in couple of days the first Release Candidate
version.

Please use agent 2.1.14, because version 2.2.x have some problem with
network discovery and SNMP inventory (or you can but if you have
troubles, you will don't know if come from agent or plugins).

<pre>Hello happy fusion users.

The fourth release candidate for the 2.2.0 version of the agent, as well
as the first release candidates of the network tasks, have been
released. We expect them to be the last before final release.

FusionInventory agent 2.2.0RC4:

NetDiscovery task 2.0RC1:

NetInventory (ex SNMPQuery) task 2.0RC1:

Those are pure code source releases, without bundled libraries or perl
interpreter, expected to be manually installed through classical sequence:
perl Makefile.PL &amp;&amp; make &amp;&amp; make install

Alternatively, they can also get executed without installation, by
running the agent directly from the extraction directory.

Hello Chris,

I believe the best solution in your case it to create an entry in Windows
"Scheduled Tasks".

The Windows installer is generated with NSIS. If you want to look further,
the NSIS files
are here :http://prebuilt.fusioninventory.org/devel/2.2.x/windows-i386/

I think we should suggest 2 options:
- install and enable the service
- create a “Scheduled Task” (in this case we install the service but
disable in)

This do the trick on my Windows XP computer.
schtasks /Create /TN FusionInventory-Agent /TR "\"c:\program
files\FusionInventory-Agent\perl\bin\perl.exe\" \"c:\Program
files\FusionInventory-Agent\perl\bin\fusioninventory-agent"" /RU SYSTEM /SC
DAILY

It would be interesting to know if it's also the case on 7 and Vista.

Sadly schtasks is not supported on Win2000. We can still use at.exe instead
as a
workaround solution or maybe a NSIS plugin already exists for that.

Best regards,

Releases number change for pluginsFusionInventory

<pre>Hello,

Yesterday, the core team has decided to modify release number of
plugins to be easier to see what version is for what version of GLPI.

In this new number, we will have (GLPI major release) + release of
FusionInventory

So, in practice, we have :

old =&gt; new

released : 2.4.0 =&gt; 2.4.0
not yet released : 2.4.1 =&gt; 0.80+1.1
not yet released : 2.4.2 =&gt; 0.80+1.2
not yet released : 2.5.0 =&gt; 0.83+1.0
not yet released : 2.6.0 =&gt; 0.84+1.0
not yet released : 2.7.0 =&gt; 0.85+1.0
....

For each new major release of GLPI, we restart FusionInventory version
to 1.0. We will be able to maintened many version and can backport
features of current version to an older GLPI release; for example,
possibility to release version 0.80+2.0 if we are in 0.83+1.1.
