<pre>hello,

I just installed the bitpim-1.0.7-setup directly from bitpim.org

Upon installing I get

The program can't start because MSVCP71.dll is missing from your computer.
Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing. No luck.

I can see that the .dll is in the bitpim folder.
I used all the defaults during setup.

My computer is an asus laptop k42jr running windows 7

I looked through the listserv history and couldn't find any errors related
to installation.

thanks,

I got the USB connection to work up to the point where BitPim recognizes the phone as “Other CDMA phone”. Does this mean this phone is not supported or I have done something wrong? When I click on get data from phone, all options are grayed out.

<pre>Hi,

I have a LG Vx9400 device, I used bitpim to transfer contacts to the device. The contacts got transferred, but I am unable to view the phone number in the contact list. The phone number exists in the phonebook entry, because when I try to call any contact in the contact list, the correct number is called. The problem is the number is not visible in the contact list, so to get the number I have to first call the number and then get the number.

<pre>Hello,
I would like to save SMS Text messages from my LG VX9900 phone to
BitPim. Every time I attempt this, it throws the same exception.
It always happens the same way in trying to retrieve SMS messages from
the phone.
Standard Equipment:
LG Media Kit USB data cable
BitPim 1.0.7
Windows 7 64-bit Home premium version

This appears to be the same problem, posted over half a dozen times and
applying to many different LG models. However, I have yet to find an answer.

Would anyone please tell me if there is a fix to this problem?
Is anyone currently working on the issue? Please update me on the status.
Let me know if anything else is needed for troubleshooting, e.g. Log and
such.
Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Andrew Kovacich

P.S.: This e-mail list service is quite limited. Most content was cropped out to meet the 40 KB size limit.

<pre>Hello,

This is more feedback than a question. My problem is that SMS messages received in my Inbox are copied to the Subject field in BitPim, and when the character limit is reached in the Subject field, the message appears to be continued in the Memo field; however, it appears as garbled, nonsense characters there. The message will look like this:

Subject field:

Can you pick me up from

Memo field:

!X-be^u
,&lt; at &gt;m2HWLr7[$ft6$#=nn9H

In contrast, the messages in my Sent box also start in the Subject field, but are copied in full in the Memo field, with the correct characters.

My specs are:

BitPim version - "1.07 Test"

LG 8700 - recognized as LG VX8700 by BitPim (a choice I believe I set manually)

Carrier - Bell

USB cable - labelled as LG VX8500

Mac OS X 10.7.2 - however, the problem existed when I had both Leopard &amp; Snow Leopard.

Sender's carrier: Rogers

I think the problem might have something to do with the sender's carrier, as I do have messages in my Inbox from senders I believe are with ot</pre>

software. Thank you for making this available.

The software installed easily on Win7 64 bit and was immediately useful. I

<pre>I have the latest version of software downloaded direct from BitPim. The program recognizes my phone with no problem, I am just trying to "Get Data from Phone". I have downloaded to it twice before. I have tried rebooting my pc, re-downloaded software, turned phone off and on, tried different usb plugs.
Suggestions?

Here is the error:

Sprint Kyocera SCP-3820 support?

<pre>To the BitPim Support Team:

I have a Sprint Kyocera SCP-3820 phone and wondered if I could use it
with BitPim. That particular phone isn't listed but I thought it might
be similar enough to one of the of the supported phones so that I
could recover my images stored on the phone.

I hope BitPim will be adding this phone to the list of supported
hardware.

Thanks...

LG VX9400 and YouTube video

<pre>
  To the BitPim Support Team,

I have a weird question.... I learned about BitPim from a YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-i5yay31qc

In said video, he downloads what looks like '1.0.5 Official Version'; and I think I see it working with the LG VX9400.

I downloaded and installed 'BitPim 1.0.7 Official Version'. The problem is that BitPim does not work for me with the VX9400. It starts to work, but no information is gleaned.

This is the weird part: The VX9400 is listed in the online help:
BitPim Online Help built 17 January 2010
....as one of the 'phones that the Developers want'. VX9400 is not listed as a supported phone in the BitPim documentation for version 1.0.7.

   What's going on????

   Thank You......

<pre>I've been successfully using bitpim for several years, first with XP,
and now, XP in a vm under Linux, but it never finds my phone when I try
to connect directly with the Linux version. It finds the device, but
says it's not available. How do I debug this?

I've got a couple of screen shots, but I have to wrangle some web space
to put them in then I'll post links.

TIA

how to successfully install 1.0.7 after I ran the rpm through alien to
convert it to a deb).

problem with sending/burning SMS (text messages) fromBitipim to my LG VX8350

<pre>I recently bought another LG VX8350 phone (for Verizon) from EBAY. I then wanted to transfer some SMS text messages I had on my old VX8350
to my new VX8350. Importing my SMS messages from my old VX8350 into BITPIM worked perfectly. However when I try sending/burning
these SMS messages to my new VX8350, they never appear on my new phone. I don't receive any error messages or exceptions, however BIPIM does reboot my phone
at the end of the sending/burning sequence (not sure if this is normal). When Bitpim asks me which data to send to my phone, I can only select "Replace ALL" SMS
messages, the option of "ADDING" is disabled. I am running the latest version of BITPIM from a PC with Windows 7. I've tried different USB
ports, 2 different data cables and 2 VX8350 phones, all experience the same issue. I would appreciate some advice. Thanks

<pre>Hi,

I read several old postings related to support for the Toshiba VM4050,
more specifically for the retrieval of media files such as audio and
pictures. I'm wondering if there is any progress on that. In the past,
the way to retrieve pictures was to use a service provided by Sprint
called "PCS Vision" but that was dropped, so there is no other official
way to retrieve these pictures.

Many thanks in advance.

The date format does not allow correct sorting for exported call histories nor SMS message history.

<pre>This is both a query soliciting solutions and a suggestion for
developers if I have not overlooked an easy solution.

I have BitPim version 1.0.7 running under Windows XP Pro and connected
to a LG VX9100 (env²). It works fine.

When I export from the SMS or the call history log the date comes into
the *.csv file in the format _2011-07-26 01:17pm_ (yyyy-mm-dd
hh:mmam/pm) which unfortunately does not sort correctly as it is a text
sort.
If the export format were _7/26/2011 01:17 pm_ instead it still would
not sort chronologically correct (in fact, as a text file, it would be
worse) *BUT* (and that's a big but) it would both import and sort
correctly into Excel or MS Access which would be a huge plus.

It would save a lot of time massaging the csv file to archive the data
in the correct chronological sequence.

Thanks for a nice product even if a bit of a challenge to initially
decipher if things don't go well. I still haven't figured out how to
search the archives so I apologize if this has a we</pre>
