I¹m just wondering if anyone would be able to provide me with instructions
on how to add the OPAC Navigation/Browse buttons into my OPAC. I have
attached a screenshot from another library¹s OPAC of the navigation/browse
buttons I am referring to.

If anyone would help, that would be fantastic. :)

<pre>Dear list,

it came to my attention that the Koha website
(http://www.koha-community.org/) includes code of Google Analytics
and Google +1.

I am wondering why a free and open source software community would
use a corporation's spyware like Google Analytics on their users.
More so as the site also includes code for Piwik analytics which
runs locally on the Koha server afaics and seems to do the same
things Google Analytics does, minus the "give all your data to an
evil corporation"-part -- if you think analysing Koha users is
neccessary.

I would appreciate a discussion about the why and personally prefer
these things to disappear so I am able to send people to the
community website in good conscience.

Have a nice weekend,

In the cataloguing when I click the "z39.50 Search" button a pop up window appears that says "Z39.50 Search Points" at the top and has a few fields to fill out with search terms like "Title:" and "ISBN:" and a few "Search targets" at the bottom, of which the LOC target is checked. When I search anything, however, the search fails and we can tell from the browser pop up window that the browser is looking at the local host (127.0.1.1). After a short while a message appears that says: "Connection failed to z3950.loc.gov" Can anyone tell us what we need to do or point us to a page that can help us to connect to z3950.loc.gov?

<pre>Anyone ever heard of "Classroom Checkouts?" Evidently it is a feature of
Follett in which a patron record get labelled as a "teacher" and this
allows that teacher to be somehow related to his or her students. The idea
is that when the students are going to the library, the library staff can
easily generate a list of barcodes associated with that teacher (in lieu of
library cards I guess....).

Anyone heard of such a thing or have a way to accomplish something similar
in Koha?

<pre>We currently have two different ways to add messages to a patron's
record: You can add an "OPAC note" or "Circulation note" when editing
the patron record, or you can add a "Message" from the checkout
screen.

Is there any reason to continue to offer these two options?

I propose that we eliminate the notes which are stored in the
borrowers table and migrate them to the messages table. Since the
messages table includes the library where the message was set, we
could add the patron's home library as the message's originating
library.

Are there reasons why libraries are choosing to set messages via the
patron edit interface rather than the circulation interface?

<pre>Dear friends,

Now I'm installing your koha on Ubuntu 11.10. I've some difficulties about
koha.

My guide -
http://clean-clouds.com/2011/12/22/open-source-ils-installation-guide-for-koha-on-ubuntu-10-04-lts-with-mysql-5/
(tip from Demian = Vufind)

Now I'm attempting to install 2.3.

=============================================
2.3 Test your SAX Parser and correct where necessary

You must be sure you’re using the XML::LibXML SAX parser, not Expat or
PurePerl, both of which have outstanding bugs with pre-composed characters.
You can test your SAX parser by running:

$ cd koha

$ misc/sax_parser_print.pl
============================

But the ERROR arises:
====================
misc/sax_parser_print.pl

Zebra database size

<pre>Hi, folks
I'm indexing a larger load of Marc records (about 1.600.000) and the size
of /etc/koha/zebradb has about 40GB. Is that right? My mysql database has
about 6GB, much less than zebra index.

There is a way to reduce the zebra index size?

Thanks for help
