Is there a way to pass parameters to verbs, when using the inkscape

case it would be needed for --verb=DialogAlignDistribute

<pre>Hi all,

I ran the Inkscape, opened the pdf file and then "save a copy" in the
eps format. As shown in the attached files, the coordinate information
is missed in the converted eps file.

The information about the my computer and Inkscape is listed as follows.
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS amd64
Inkscape : 0.48.3.1 r9886 (Installed from the Canonical source)

While I tried on another machine with Inkscape 0.48.2 r9819, the
conversion is perfectly done as expected.

So have I missed something to be installed? Or is there a bug for the
newer version of Inkscape?

Suggestions are welcome!

Hedong

there are a lot of times when I would like to grab a chunk of the

Inkscape to do this is that I can select and grab a block, but the lines
stay put. I really want to grab the objects and the endpoints of the lines
that are within the selection window and move the endpoints along with the
objects.

Is there an easy way to do this that I have been overlooking?

<pre>Good day everyone,

I'm trying to import a GMT generated map (ps file) into inkscape (so I
can add an extra layer and lots of text) but the graticules disappear.
The map is attached. It was generated with this command (pscoast

Once imported into inkscape the graticules disappear. They are, however,
still visible in the import window.

Does anyone have an explanation for this and how I can fix it (I'm
guessing it is an inkscape problem because they are visible with the gs,
pdf viewers), In fact do others see this behaviour ?

While I click and drag with the bezier pen tool, I get those nice bezier
handles so can shape bezier curves accurately.
The moment I close a path, and then select the node-editing tool, i can
click on nodes, but i don't get those bezier-rubberbands
or handles, so can shape the curves further.

When I convert an object to path, and attempt to re-shape a segment or a
curve, I still don't get those bezier-handles anymore.

Might I have accidentally switched off their view? Have tried everywhere,
can't seem to find the option.
How do I get those back please?

I could happily edit curves in this version ever since it was released, but
it just stopped one fine day a few months ago.

FYI, I'm using 0.46-devel on my production-stable ubuntu 9.04 on a
macbookpro.
Can't change this in a hurry either.

<pre>Hi all,

I have a number of *.jpg files that I need to convert to svg. I am using
inkscape for the conversion. The problem is that the resulting svg is almost
5 times the size of the jpeg file. I have tried saving the file in
compressed plain svg but with no success. The file is still very large. Is
there anything I can do to shrink the file? I have run an open source
cleanup tool called cleanSVG downloadable from codeplex but that has not
helped.

I am open to using other JPG to SVG converters if inkscape is not the right
tool for this exercise. Natively creating SVG is not an option at this
point.

<pre>Hi,

I need a sanity check from you, my fellow Inkscape users, if you don't
mind:

Draw a 1 px straight vertical line using the pen tool, holding down Ctrl
to make sure it's straight.

Is there any way to do this such that the line does not end up on an X
value that is X.5, where X is any integer?

Same for a 1 px straight horizontal line - no matter where I click, no
matter which snapping options I enable, that sucker will only land on Y
values of something + 0.5.

Is this right? Is there anyway to avoid this? I've trained myself to
manually go in and delete the 0.5 and not even think about it, but I'm
trying to explain something to a new Inkscape user and I feel quite
silly explaining my odd way of going in to the X and Y coordinate boxes
and erasing the .5 off the end of the number to her.

Thanks,
~m

<pre>Hi All,

I am using inkscape to draw lots of small diagrams to include in my
thesis. Is there some way I can export only a single group on my inkscape
svg to a PDF?

Currently I do this by right clicking on the group and memorizing the group
id number. Then I go to "Save as" and select pdf, enter the filename and in
the PDF export dialog I type in the group number to limit the export to
only that element.

Is there a way to make this easier? If I could somehow select a group and
then export the currently selected thing, that would be *much* more
convenient that memorizing 5 digit numbers every time I want to export
something.

I've had a quick rummage through the various Preferences windows and

Inkscape 0.48.x on Ubuntu, if that matters.

I am importing (inkscape) SVG files into inkscape to assign the path to

substantially smaller than expected, looking more like a superscript.

The characters in the attached screenshot are all the same size on the
inkscape page.

Is this a problem with the preview feature, or a problem with the SVG
font feature?

Thank you for any help.

<pre>Hi All,

I just wanted to shoot out a message to let people know that we've
been accepted as a mentoring organization again this year. If you know
any college or graduate school students who would qualify and be
interested, please let them know, we would like to talk to them. :)

Cheers,
Josh

Blending one photo into another.

<pre>Before I spend a lot of time trying the impossible:

In Gimp it is possible to take two overlapping bitmap images
(like photos) and blend one into the other using a gradient on
the topmost bitmap? Inkscape has the ability to blend two vector
objects in this manner. But what about bitmaps?

If I vectorize the top image will that make it possible?
(Unfortunately vectorized photos often come up huge.)

Jessyink renumber effects order

<pre>Hi all,

Jessyink [1]is really a very nice extension to Inkscape to enable doing
dynamic presentations, I can really recommend it! There are two
versions, I use the latter, Jessyink 2.0.0-alpha1.

However, I usually end up adding effects and manually setting the order
and eventually running out of numbers. E.g. I start to number the
effects by 10, 20, 30, etc. but soon end up having orders 1, 2, 3, 4,
... and wanting to insert a new efect between e.g. 2 and 3. Therefore I
wonder, is there some way to renumber the effects to make some space
that I have missed?

As the svg-files are just text files, I am considering a script to do
this to find and renumber the effects; the finding part can be achieved by
e.g.

,----
| cat my_svg_file_with_jessyink.svg|grep "sodipodi:role=\"line\"&gt;[0-9]*&lt;/tspan&gt;&lt;/text&gt;"|grep [0-9]*
`----

This gives all the lines with effect numbers, maybe sed or awk can be
used in a loop to renumber in order and increment by a
desired step (e.g. 10). Now, my skills are not really up to the ta</pre>
