The problem with going to nemo is loosing accessibility with gnome orca and not having the wonderful features of nautilus. I find the new interface to be so frustrating to be nearly useless. The file listings and every feature work very well but I cannot minimize or close the window without much effort. I know that for some users the newer way of doing things is faster and more efficient but for some remembering new shortcuts to close a window when ALL the rest of the windows in GNOME can be closed by clicking the X in the menu, is frustrating. I'm running CentOS release 6.3 (Final). Adding /custom/path to my $PATH doesn't seem to do the trick, as the install has many other subfolders, i.e bin, etc, lib, libexec, share. I'm guessing Centos is loading /usr/local/bin/nautilus regardless of what's in the path anyway. My solution to one part of the puzzle, is to allow encrypting individual folders. Previously, there was no easy, GNOME-like way to do this.
