( or its screen shot:

are rendered on Garmin GPSmap 76CSx as:

http://picasaweb.google.co.in/hardeep.rai/SOSM#5274339387810035298

which looks strange. The important roads "trunk" and "primary" are
shown as thin blue lines while less important "tertiary" road is shown
in thick red.

The file is downloaded from:

http://downloads.cloudmade.com/asia/india

Is it something to do with tagging on OSM, or some setting by
cloudmade, or there is setting in GARMIN unit? If it is offtopic for
this, please give me pointer where I can find more help.

Also note, primary road is indicated as "Intl. Border"

Thanks, Chris. Did you mean that I could upload it all at once, or that
I'd need to break it down?

    <title>Rendering maps in Silverlight</title>
    <link>http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gis.openstreetmap.user/1822</link>
<description>I'm new (first post) and had a question about the OSM format.

I've started writing a renderer in Silverlight to draw maps direct from the OSM data
(http://blog.figmentengine.com/search/label/OpenStreetMap)

Where is the best place to look for information about what the "correct" rendering logic (for example how different type of area
should be layered (z-index) or general rules about colours, and widths of various road types and rivers?)

Thanks in advance!

How do I share nodes/ways between two areas? I have a park boundary and along
part of it is an area of water. It seems like I ought to be able to attach
the new way segment for the water to two points along the original park border, and
somehow designate the segment in between those two points as shared.

I'm using JOSM and can't quite figure out how to do this.

Thanks.

Looking at the US data, they have national, state, and county

used to render these features on the map, but I don't get anything in
my area.

I tried defining the boundary of the province of Alberta, and also the
boundary of Strathcona County. None of this has been rendered as seen
in the US data... How do I determine which tags are required to get a
feature rendered?
