Spatial Analysis Short Course by Luc Anselin Dec 5-7,2011

<pre>Luc Anselin is offering a 3-day short course "Introduction to Spatial
Analysis in OpenGeoDa" in Tempe, AZ from Dec 5-7, 2011.

Learn more about the short course and register here:

The short course provides an introduction to spatial analysis using the
latest version of the cross-platform OpenGeoDa software. The focus is on two
important topics. The first is the concept, statistical tests for and
interpretation of spatial autocorrelation, one of the most fundamental
notions in spatial analysis. The second deals with the principles behind
spatial regression, especially how to carry out and interpret diagnostics
for spatial autocorrelation and how to estimate models that incorporate such
spatial correlation.

The short course is designed in a hybrid format, mixing lectures with
ongoing hands-on demonstrations, laboratory exercises and Q&amp;A to address
participants' questions. There will be ample time to discuss individual
research projects in an informal</pre>

New ILWIS Version - 3.8 beta now online

<pre>*** sorry for any cross posting ***

The ILWIS community is pleased to announce a beta release of ILWIS 3.8.!
This release mainly focuses on vastly improved visualization functionality.
2D and 3D visualization has been greatly enhanced. ILWIS 3.8 enables users
to create 3D visualization of all types of maps and animations almost on the
fly. Animations have been greatly improved and function now as a normal
(animated) layer in a map window. On the fly reprojection/resampling of
raster maps makes it possible to display multiple raster maps with different
georeferences. In addition, OpenGL has greatly improved rendering
performance.

Additional significant changes have been included to the 3.8 version.
• Help Files are now available as true HTML in the browser and can be
located in the installation folder of ILWIS.
• Time is now supported as a domain (Date + Time) as defined by ISO 8601.
• A number of new applications for change detections, iso line,
aggregating maplists have been added.

What is the tool or collection of tools needed to cache tile based maps

I am looking for a reusable solution where I can keep the cache for a long

Any advice will be appreciated.

52N WPS 2.0-RC6 available

<pre>Dear FreeGIS List,

The 52°North Geoprocessing Community released a new Web Processing Service
version. The WPS 2.0-RC6 contains the following new features:

*an out-of-the-Box GRASS connector (no programming needed). A
tutorial [1] provides instructions on how to connect GRASS with the WPS. A
list of processes [2] are also available.
*a new easy-to-use WebAdmin interface for WPS configuration. It is no
longer necessary to manually change the XML files and low level code.
*a new Windows Installer
*improved KML Reader and Writers
*several smaller bug fixes.

The 52N WPS enables standardized web-based geodata processing in distributed
architectures. It features a pluggable architecture for processes and data
encodings. The implementation is based on the current OpenGIS specification:
05-007r7. For a full description of the features, please look here:

<pre>Dear OSGeo List,

The 52°North Security &amp; GeoRM Community created a demonstration platform for
testing 52N Security Services. A Web Authentication Service (WAS) and a Web
Security Service (WSS) have been deployed and can be used with protected Web
Processing Services (WPS), Sensor Observation Services (SOS), Web Feature
Services (WFS), and Web Mapping Services (WMS).

Dear Lists,

The 52°North Security &amp; GeoRM Community announces the release of the 52N
WSC.Desktop Version 0.9. This Java desktop application enables the
integration of protected services in local GIS applications. Version 0.9
users can access WSS, WAS and &lt;http://shibboleth.internet2.edu/&gt; Shibboleth
protected services. The limited subset of the SAML (Security Assertion
Markup Language) 2.0 ECP Profile implemented resulted from participation in
the &lt;http://www.opengeospatial.org/projects/initiatives/shibbolethie&gt; OGC
