<pre>Hello, all.

I'm translating a wiki page,
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Feature_Comparison:_LibreOffice_-_Microsoft_Office#Word_processors:_LibreOffice_Writer_vs._Microsoft_Word

There is a phrase
"Framesdesktop-like features like text in multiple columns and
text-wrap around graphicsconcept of "horizontal frames" is more
limited"

I can't get what "desktop-like features" is. Does this mean DTP?
Please let me know it.

there really a problem?

we have bought two Raspberry Pis, Model B, 512 MB RAM, from the
infrastructure budget. At the moment, they're at my location, waiting to
be deployed in the future (and to be bought MMC cards and power plugs).

Should there any current member of the infra team who has a concrete
need or time to work with those devices, let me know, then I'll ship
them over to you. Otherwise, I'll deploy them when some high priority
tasks are done, and try to host them somewhere.

We can use them e.g. as monitoring devices, as infra playground, or for
compiling ARM builds (ok, they might be a bit slow for that :-)

update on MirrorBrain

<pre>Hello,

I wanted to follow-up with some details on the MirrorBrain migration
that's still in the works - and telling why it takes so long. ;-)

TL;DR: We need to package MirrorBrain on our own and contribute that
upstream. As I lack development experience, help is needed. Cloph will
support me, and maybe Alex and Robert would like to join?

So far, we have been running MirrorBrain on an Ubuntu 10.04 based
machine, where official packages do exist. For the migration to a
12.04-based system, we had success with using the official packages for
Ubuntu 11.10 (as no newer ones did exist).

I used this version as basis for installing it on the new machine and
documenting it there.

Just when I was ready to pull the plug, those packages disappeared all
of a sudden from the official download location - reason is unknown,
maybe some recent changes broke the build.

I managed to come up with my own set of packages, thanks to the help of
Michael and Kendy, available at

update on SaltStack deployment

<pre>Hello,

I'd like to give you an update on our progress with the SaltStack
deployment. Alex and Robert have put a tremendous amount of work so far
in evaluating and coming up with some best practices for deployment, and
created an initial configuration based on my documentation.

It will be based on Debian 7, with modifications to make it also work
with Ubuntu 12.04, so we're a bit more flexible in the choice of the
target operating system. In theory, it can also be extended to other
distributions, should the need arise and people are willing to work on
the configuration. We plan to release at least the noncritical parts of
the files under an open license, but I will follow-up with details when
we're ready.

So far, we are able to manage physical hosts, and set-up and configure
KVM guests as well as Amazon EC2 guests. A first test drive was the new
AskBot VM, that is already being managed by SaltStack with regards to
the base OS.

There's still some work in front of us, but I expect that managing </pre>

deleting inactive wiki users

<pre>Hello,

I've stumbled across this script, that helps deleting wiki users that
have done nothing yet (no page edit, no log entry, nothing at all):

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:RemoveUnusedAccounts.php

I am thinking of running this, which will help us eliminating 2,5k
accounts on the wiki. Chances are that amongst these are some that
people created to simply monitor pages, but I'd accept this as
collateral damage, so to say.

I would like to avoid mailing out first to those 2,5k users, chances are
the addresses are inactive or abused and we spam innocent people.

What do you think? Does this sound like a sensible approach?

admin weekend first details

<pre>Hello,

here's some first details for the admin weekend end of July, so you can
plan your trips accordingly.

Robert will try to be in the hotel Friday afternoon. I expect that we
can have a small room to begin first introductions and discussions at
about 1500. Robert's driving by car from near Munich, maybe it makes
sense to join forces for carpooling.

Alex and I have an event in Munich in the evening and will fly in rather
late, I expect we won't be in the hotel before midnight. Luckily, Robert
volunteered to do the first round of discussions and tasks, so we can be
productive on Friday evening already.

So, in a nutshell, for those attending onsite, it's best to be in the
hotel by 1500 or so.

More to follow soon. ;-)

Florian
