LibreOffice stickers - proposal for odering

Hi,

(One of the longer standing items...)

Since producing stickers central and then shipping is most
cost-effective, and having some experience, I volunteer to order some
kinds of stickers.

We have/had two kinds:
   a. normal logo [1] (110 X 35 mm)
   b. the love-variant [2] (110 X 25 mm)

I noticed at booths / sticker hand-outs that people also look for
smaller sizes. For - let me call it - guerilla-stickering ;)

So I propose to do also do sizes 60 x 20 / 60 x 14
(approximately - didn't check this with a printer.)

If we a sort of agree, I can ask for the budget.

Opinions?
Maybe - when we work on it anyways - there's an addition design that we
can order for :-)

Cheers,
Cor

Hi,

You know social media is a very effective channel for getting people's
attention. Also it can be used a regular reminder/ping'er/poke'r for
communities.

So using the social media's advantages to increase the community's
attention on Ask.LibreOffice.org site and Bugzilla will be good imho.

We had used this method in Pardus GNU/Linux and it worked. After
asking to Florian for his advice that if is this possible to use this
channels for LibreOffice, i've creaed two twitter accounts.

The new accounts are:

LibreOffice Bugzilla:
https://twitter.com/LibreOfficeBugs

Ask.LibreOffice.org:
https://twitter.com/AskLibreOffice

I've connected ask site's new question feeds and bugzilla's new bug's
feeds to this accounts.

The goals of having this accounts are:

· To keep more attention on questions and bugs

· Make community contribution process more social

· To poke/ ping community’s members and asking for the minimum
contribution that can give constantly

· Spread the questions and bugs to their networks

Hello Tom,

Your recent posts on the marketing list have been, for a very large
part, distracting and disturbing the progress of the team. The comments
you have
made have not been the result of an actual contribution from your side
and their content did not help improve the ongoing work that was being
discussed. On the contrary, your posts seemed to have reflected your
opinion on general matters and on the LibreOffice software suite itself
that was out of context with respect to the discussion at hand.

What is even more disturbing is that we, the board of the Document
Foundation, have received off list complaints of long term contributors
who hold us that they were not
reading this list anymore because of your posts.

We would like to remind you that this list, as well
as others, are communication tools for the LibreOffice project
contributors and do not exist for any other purpose. If you were to
continue to post similar comments we will be forced to moderate your
messages.

On behalf of the Board,

Hello everyone,

I'd like to share with you an early report on our Facebook ad campaign.
My first surprize was that a Facebook ad has to be validated by Facebook
and it does take time (several days). Consequently, the ad campaign
effectively started on the 7th of May. From the 7th till today (6 days)
the ad was seen by 74,298 unique people, over a general scope of over
135 Million people (people selected in English-speaking geographies with
specific interests, from small business owner to education-interested
audiences and tech early adopters). I can provide a specific audience
segmentation if needed. Needless to say, I configured the ad to run for
people who are not related to LibreOffice. The goal of this ad was to
get more "Likes", and thus the report follows that logic.

The ad was seen by 74,298 people, that's the effective outreach of the
ad until now. On these people, 718 people actually clicked on the ad,
went to the LibreOffice Facebook page and on these 718 people, 560 liked
it (clicked on the li

Hello,

I have good news to all of you, finally - the videos from last year's
LibreOffice Conference have been cut and put online by the company in
charge of the recordings. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen technical
difficulties, it took much longer than anticipated, and in the end, they
had to hand-cut and lipsync videos and slides, which took an incredible
amount of time, explaining the huge delay.

I am currently evaluating the technical options of hosting those videos
together with their special player on our own infrastructure, and expect
to finally have the files online on our servers soon, available to the
general public. You are probably aware that all the slides have already
been available since last November or so at
http://conference.libreoffice.org/talks/

Again, sorry for this massive delay.

As to pictures, we have provided technical facilities for uploading
them, and many people made us of these. However, as sometimes it was a
weird mixture of publishable and unpublishable, public

Something that stands out is that everyone else is doing it wrong. They put lots of "white space" and images. Not so much text. They seem to avoid directly describing detail of their product in words and use emotive wistful yearnings for vague nebulous desires. All completely the opposite of our brochures.

going to OSCON in July and asks if we could get it ready for the

The community brochure's target audience will be people interested in
the following areas: developers, QA, support, documentation, design
(both Visual Identification and UX), translation etc. (yeh, I know there
are more). So the list is long and we have only a brochure to fill from
the point of view of [*community*].

Add your points that you think we should be writing of in the brochure.
Don't worry if there are too many items, we will prioritize the list at
the point of writing the text. We are looking for content items.

Just add to this thread and I (or someone else) will take care of adding
them to the workspace wiki page that has been set up. We are doing the
writing of the brochure in steps.[1]

have any text/content for this brochure, I think the following approach
would be the best way to work:

[*First:*] identify the different points that we think should be
included in the brochure.

[*Second:*] write up the text on this list; proof the text and get
approval of the text by the marketing team and Italo/Charles.

[*Third:*] put the text on the official template and work on adding
icons/graphics (may need some help from design team). Some of the text
may need trimming or may need addition. Not to forget that white space
in the brochure is not a bad thing. It gives the eyes a rest.

[*Fourth:*] complete the official version, get final approval from the
marketing/design teams (because it may have some design elements),
Italo/Charles. If all OK, complete the Official A4/USLtr and Community
A4/USLtr versions.

[*Fifth:*] Announce on the Projects list that this brochure version is
ready.

How does this sound?

Hi everyone,

I have created a "TDF/LibreOffice Brochure Workspace" wiki page[1]. We
can use it to track the work done on the content and text of the
different brochure types as we complete them.

Feel free to add any more types should you think we are missing any.

I have also added the NL (native language) navigation bar. Feel free to
get you own teams working on any of the text and you can help us out by
submitting your version of text on the Marketing list for
translation/localization in EN OR discuss any of the brochure-types with
your nl marketing teams and have someone from your nl marketing team
relay back any suggestions in EN to this list.

Also note that Italo and Charles will have a LARGE say as to what will
appear in some (if not all) of the brochures.

For those of you who are not familiar with our Marketing Team structure,
Italo and Charles are our lead marketing team members -- they share
responsibilities for all that is marketing of the project.

Hello,

sorry for spamming all the lists, but in the light of recent events and
discussions, I'd like to make all of you aware of an important mailing
list, that so far has not been used as extensively as it should be,
which led to some frustration and communication issues.

As part of our mission to foster the project internal communication, I'd

initiated quite a while ago, and which should be used for communication
amongst the various projects - e.g. design and marketing, development
and marketing, UX and development, and the like.

The list's intention is not to be a gossip list where everything should
be thrown at, but to make all affected projects aware of important
changes. Philosophy: Low traffic, but important topics.

Some examples are: Change of version numbers, a new slogan, design
changes, new products. In other words: Everything that has an impact on
other areas of working than the one where the change originally

Seeking for list moderators

Hello,

at the moment, we are looking for volunteers who could help moderate
this mailing list.

If you are interested, the only requirement is that you are subscribed
to the list yourself and read its mails in a somehow timely manner, but
that's about it.

Moderation means dealing with e-mails that do not automatically make it
to the list, which you then manually forward, or reject. This happens
either when an e-mail comes from an unknown sender, e.g. when a project
member uses a different address for posting. It also occurs when someone
unexperienced writes to the list, thinking it's a private account, but
in fact it's a public list.

You'll receive the message to be moderated via e-mail, which you then
can either "moderate through", or reject.

Is someone interested in joining our efforts? It'd be much appreciated -
just drop me an email (please also copy me directly, and not only the
list), then I'm happy to add you to the list of moderators.

Thanks!
Florian

Brochure-type: General Information

This is the thread to develop the brochure-type "General Information"
brochure. I have uploaded a sample brochure with the content. We should
first re-read the content, and once we have agreed on the content,
proofed the content and formatted the content, we can move on to
completing the rest of the remaining 3 versions of this brochure.

The reason I started with the USLtr is that Tim says that he has a
pressing need for this particular type of community brochure for an
upcoming meeting/event.

Please have a look at the content and make any suggestions to improve
the text on this thread.

Brochure templates -- Official and Community (easy on ink) versions

We have completed the template design of the official and community
brochures. Thanks to all of the people who participated in creating
these on the design list.

We can now start working on content for these brochures. There is a list
of "brochure-types" on one of our discussions. If you feel like you are
able to help out with content for any brochure-type, feel free to start
a thread to develop the content. We should be able to compose content
for most of the brochure-types and then offer these to our native
language teams for them to work on.

We will need to prepare 4 brochures for each brochure-types (1-official
A4 version; 1-official USLtr version; 1-community A4 version;
1-community USLtr version).

Have fun participating on the content creation.

OFFICIAL BROCHURE
====================

The official version is really for off-set printers and the design notes
on the centre panel should really be followed (the design font and
colors are listed)
