The default cache key is generated in core/cocoon-pipeline/cocoon-pipeline-impl/src/main/java/org/apache/cocoon/components/pipeline/impl/ExpiresCachingProcessingPipeline.java:223: key = environment.getURIPrefix()+environment.getURI(); So the generation of the key is correct, but environment.getURIPrefix() is empty. I'm sure this is the part making the difference. I can't find where the URIPrefix is set (supposing it could be in core/cocoon-pipeline/cocoon-pipeline-impl/src/main/java/org/apache/cocoon/environment/http/HttpEnvironment.java) ...

[C2.2] Why two sets of HTML serializers?

I've been examining the HTMLSerializer so that I can document it on Daisy. Initially, I was confused about what config options could be used and then it dawned on me that there are actually two different implementations! The default is to use: o.a.c.serialization.HTMLSerializer but there is another one called: o.a.c.components.serializers.HTMLSerializer I'm assuming that this second version is an attempt to move away from depending on Xalan for outputting HTML. I also note that it makes life easier for users by implementing a 'doctype-default' config setting which takes 'strict', 'loose', 'frameset' or 'compatible' as values. I've perused the developer mail archive and the svn log but not found anything about the background for this second implementation. Could someone just confirm that I'm on the right track. Is the intention to make the second implementation the default at some point? What other advantages does this new version have? Regards, David Legg

Should HTMLSerializer be more strict about strict 4.01 HTML?

In playing around with the HTML serializer I've noticed that the strict 4.01 doctype doesn't actually prevent invalid output. For example the 'align' property in is deprecated (because it is considered presentational) and fails the W3C validator if let through. I'm wondering if maybe the serializer should silently correct this by leaving deprecated properties out. I can't see any better way to fix this except by embedding styles in the output... but that seems horrible. The other alternative of causing an exception seems equally oppressive but maybe it would help in the long run. Any ideas? David Legg

Hi All I am trying to fix some of the suggestion-list functionality in the 2_1_X-dojo1_1 branch. There are several legacy techniques for implementing suggestion lists. The one I am working on re-implementing is the one that has a JavaScript handler in the Widget model (see src/blocks/forms/samples/ forms/ajax_suggest_form.xml). A request is made, containing the Continuation-Id, the Widget Id and the filter value. Originally, a user had to have a specific pipeline handler in their own sitemap, which uses the SuggestionListGenerator to look up the Continuation, find the Widget, then call it's handler. What I was hoping to do was to have a generic pipeline handler in a new system-level sitemap, which would do this for you, without the user having to copy+paste the handler to their own sitemap. However, it seems I am unable to retrieve a continuation made in one sitemap, from another sitemap. Can anyone confirm this? Is there a way to do this, or will I have to return to the original scheme? Many thanks for any suggestions (ha ha). regards Jeremy

I've just finished the Corona to Cocoon 3 renaming tasks (Java namespaces, Maven artifacts, XML namespaces). Cocoon 3 can be found now at https://svn.eu.apache.org/repos/asf/cocoon/cocoon3 Next I will ask for a new Jira project and add Cocoon 3 to the ASF infra managed Hudson instance. Then it's time to cut the first release 3.0.0-alpha-1.
