Hi All,

Some folks had reported issues with map on http://okfn.org/local/

This has been tracked down to combination of: new chrome version, use
of raw.github.com urls to load js files and github's use of nosniff
header.

In general we should not load js from raw.github.com as it is not a
CDN but I had been doing this as a convenience during development and
this had crept into production :-/

I've changed the url to gh-pages location:

<http://okfnlabs.org/recline.backend.gdocs/backend.gdocs.js>

And everything is now working, hurrah!

Hi,

I like to put straight html into wordpress (this allows for nice stuff
like: http://schoolofdata.org/online-resources/) unfortunately it still
insists on beeing clever and inserts random <p> tags into my layout - thus
resulting in incorrect parsing and display by browsers. Is there any way to
tell wordpress this is html - don't touch it?

http://trac.okfn.org/ticket/1404

I just fixed a link to the open definition now at this page
http://okfn.org/opendata/ and realised the bug is worst than I
thought. It also removed all images tags, not only the featured image
tag (which is a HTML comment).

I believe it could also help if we had a revision control of OKFN
blogs pages and posts. I am not sure which plugin is best

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/version-control

Please, if someone can help me to restore the original images, I'll be thankful.

P. S. I was navigating in this page and thinking a way to have it in
other languages. Not sure if we can have a more practical way other
than only copy and paste.

Hi,

is it my impression or it is taking a long time to OKFN mailman
servers to deliver e-mails? I was suspicious about that, but now I
made a small test that maybe confirmed this. I sent an e-mail to
okfn-br and open-government mainling lists and it took about 1 hour to
arrive on my mail box. I saw the archive and the e-mail was already
archive.

These days I sent a news to open-science (I check before if someone
had sent, but I saw nothing) that was already sent by my brother -
actually, he told me the news we both shared.

Just pointing this out in case someone perceived something similar.

I also noticed that our main site just mention it here
<http://okfn.org/terms-of-use/#what-we-do-with-your-content>.

Wouldn't be better to have the CC-by license more explicitly on all pages?

Best,

Problem with OKF Japan Website - Homepage and Pages NotViewable

Hello OKF Sysadmin / Help teams,

We're experiencing a major problem with the OKF Japan website and its
permalinks - neither the homepage (jp.okfn.org) nor any internal
pages/posts are viewable - and we also can't view them in the back-end of
the site either once they've been published. This problem first occurred
around the time of the server transfers, so if someone can help us, it'd be
very much appreciated!

Pages:

While several pages have been created, there is no way to view them either
via permalink or Published Pages (for example, going to
http://jp.okfn.orggives us a message stating the page does not exist).

Posts:

Posts also do not show up once published. For example, when I just created
the post 'test' under 'Posts', it said it published, and gave me the
following post URL: http://jp.okfn.org/2012/09/03/test/ However, when I go
to this URL, it says the page is not found, and I cannot find the post
anywhere in the back-end of Wordpress - nor can I find any of the other
published posts.

I've tried searching through the back-end permalinks and other settings
pages to see how to fix this, but am at a loss.

Thanks very much in advance,

Kat

Hi guys,

We have a problem with the okfestival.org blog domain - for some reason,
whenever we try to create a new page (as of this morning and late last
night) the domain permalink starts with okfestival.okfn.org/ (*instead of*
okfestival.org/ <- the correct domain). This is causing redirect problems
(ie, no one can go to any of the new pages) and is a major problem for
several people trying to create new pages today on OKFestival.org.

Sorry to be a pain, but the OKFest team is currently trying to create 60+
pages for invididual sessions at the festival, all of which need to be
finished for public use by the end of this week.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried to empty the site cache
already, and change permalinks manually, but the okfn.org addition remains.

Thanks,
Kat

  Wednesday, August 8th

starting after 14:00 BST. The blog sites should be available mostly, but
they will be in read-only mode for some time. Progress of the migration
will be tracked here

    http://trac.okfn.org/ticket/1281

We will reset all passwords during the migration. You might want to
check your blog profile *now* that it has your correct mail address, so
you can retrieve a new password afterwards.

###

FYI: We have been fighting a number of issues with our blog farm
recently. They will hopefully be resolved with the migration, or shortly
after:

* Our database server is suffering from a daily load peak around 17-18h
BST. This slows down th eblog farm.

* Public domain review had gone viral and attracted unprecedented
amounts of traffic

* A security incident has forced us to upgrade and stricten permission
settings, which had some side effects on functionality.

We will inform you when the migration is done and the blog farm is in
production mode again. If you find issues thereafter, let us know, e.g.
on IRC (#okfn on FreeNode).

Cheers /nils.

Hi Sam

Just spoke to Rufus about the homepage, as discussed here
https://github.com/okfn/okfn.org/issues/3 he suggested that you and I and
possibly Rufus have a call to discuss it further. Let me know when might be
a good time to do so.

Hello *,

because of a security incident we had to and upgrade our blog farm to
the latest wordpress version and tighten file permissions.

If you maintain a wordpress blog site on our OKFN blog farm, please
check that your blog (in particular its theme and plugins) is working as
expected. Let us know if not.

Thx to Bobby Donovan for sorting this out on such short notice.

Kudos to Nick Stenning as well. He had put the farm under git control
some time ago, and that allowed us today to revert bad changes pretty
easily.

There is a small change the vulnerability is in a bad plugin/theme, in
which case the vulnerability is still present. But we think the now
tighter file permissions will prevent this from happening again.

/nils.
