Hi all!

TightVNC Dispatcher was announced rather long time ago. As far as I understood it’s a kind of proxy to connect client and server to each other.

Are you still working on it?

Hi

I'm using tightvnc to access my machines.

Using a browser, on port 5801 I used to get a usual login screen as you'd
get it when sitting in front of the machine.
As of this week the login won't come up any longer. The background image is
loaded and that's it. No login/password prompt.

I can still start sessions for specific users from the command line and
access them on other ports.

I already reinstalled tighvnc and double checked the ports being open in the
firewall.

Where else could I look for the cause of the problem?

Multiple monitors not displayed & Monitor/Mouse mismatch

Details: 3 monitor setup: 2 monitors connected to a Nvidia card, 3rd monitor connected to Intel integrated graphics

Teamviewer, Crossloop, LogMeIn all display & handle this three monitor setup just fine.

A) However when I connect using TightVNC only the right most monitor is displayed yet the mouse actions sent via TightVNC are applied to the left most monitor.

Here is a link to a rough video showing this behavior using simultaneous teamviewer connections to the host & VM, plus a TightVNC connection to the host:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1O4HMQ4myAdT0NkRExpWEU4UTA/edit?usp=sharing

in the video:
--top window is connection via teamviewer to the host. Also shows an active windows remote desktop connection to a virtual machine (VM).
--middle connection is teamviewer connection directly to the VM running on the host, B) note (more below): this teamviewer connection does not terminate the widows remote desktop connection between host & VM where as connections with logmein, crossloop(ultravnc), TightVNC all cause the host windows remote desktop session to the VM to end (not shown in the video)
--bottom connection is the mis-behaving TightVNC connection to the host.

I welcome suggestions regarding TightVNC & multiple monitor setups that might resolve this.

B) Also, more on the above note: somehow Teamviewer's type of connection directly to the VM does not cause the windows remote desktop connection from the host to the VM to disconnect. If there is a setting that keeps TightVNC from disconnecting the remote desktop connection to the VM, please let me know. This is valuable for reasons such as the remote desktop session runs at full 3 monitor resolution plus supports shared drives, etc with the host and enables users at the host side to see what I am seeing on the VM at the same time.

Thank you, Chad------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've had no problems with the Tight VNC program until now. The last time I connected to the host (server), I clicked on a .JPG image an selected "view in Windows Explorer." I shut down the host machine properly, but now I can't connect to it anymore. The prompt tells me that either the host can't be found, or that it's taking too long.

The only way I see to repair this is to connect the old monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the host machine and reinstall the Tight VNC program, which is very inconvenient. Doe anyone know of any other cure? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tsclient RDP reboots winxp computer after log-in or file transfer

Greetings,

First here's bit of background info:
On Monday april 8, 2013 my roomate indicated he think he has a computer
virus.
On april 11, 2013 I'm at the office connecting from knoppix RDP
Terminal Server Client
to my winxp box at home as usual when I notice the connection wasn't as
fast as I like.
This isn't a big deal because sometimes the connection is slow using
RDP with
Terminal Server Client. So I use VNC with Terminal Server Client. No
issues, work as
it should. I'm not sure if i disconnected when I was done or not but it
didn't matter since
when I leave the office it would disconnect. I reconnected my knoppix
laptop once I got
home later that night wired to my D-link switch, not sure if I use the
internet router
address or my local private address, using either VNC or RDP. As you
all know sometime
we fall asleep at the wheel with the engine running..lol..lol. Then on
Friday morning april 12, 2013
received a call from microsoft requesting my roommate saying his
computer was infected
and he could fix it. I went along with him cause of reason maybe the
roommate did call
microsoft and they were calling him back. I didn't have his computer in
front of me so,
I thought I would go through part way on my box and understand what the
guy was
talking about. It go strange when he asked who is may cable provider.
I didn't respond
to the question because to me it didn't matter. So they want me to
check the eventviewer
and thats when I lost connection with them and thats when my problems
with RDP started
. Recalled the number on my phone and it was a (240-xxx-0000). After
looking it up online, I
find it is a scam. So I need some help from you good people.

laptop is knoppix liveDVD
I went to reconnect using TSClient with my wired knoppix laptop using
the private local
address and noticed once I connected and logged-in, the winxp box would
show the desktop
for a few seconds and the winxp box would reboot resulting in my
knoppix laptop system being
disconnected. I ran ad-aware and avast. Both software found
something that could be removed.
This didn't solve the issue, winxp system still reboots upon logging-in
using RDP. VNC never
presented an issue. Tried Remmina RDP. It worked with it worked with
the desktop but the sound
didn't work and the drip mapping didn't work I upgraded remmina to the
latest experimental
version. When I tried to connect from the laptop just enabling the
option for hard drive mapping
caused the desktop to reboot. I reinstalled the TSClient. It acted
like it was going to work but as
soon as I attempted to transfer a file the desktop would reboot. I
rebooted the knoppix dvd and
start over from scratch. I then went into synoptics to reload and
allowed the system to get all
the most up to date plugins and binaries. After 2hrs of downloading,
the system failed to up grade.
I then finally got the upgraded remmina to install. first by
downloading
http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/r/remmina/remmina_1.0.0-4+deb7u1_i386.deb
and
placing it in the /home/knoppix/.remmina and going to the synaptics and
upgrading from there.
The RDP was installed with no errors. Set map drive option and test
connection all is well. I was
able to see the laptop drives but as soon as I attempted to transfer a
file from the desktop to the
laptop, the desktop reboots. I turn my attention to upgrade TightVNC
from 2.0.4 to 2.6 leaving
all setting the same. Attempted RDP from laptop to desktop so I can
transfer a file. Still the
transfer failed although all the rebooting at loging is no longer
happening and the sound is workin.
Question, how to get file transfer working in RDP with either TSClient
or Remmina?
Oh and I did reducess the hardware acceleration on the video but it too
had no effect.

Help……, please…. for allow input to VNC server OS from VNC client.

Dear "App developer(s)",

My name is Shiguang Tim Hao, a student of CCT college in Dublin, Ireland.

My colleagues and myself are doing a final year project for our degree course.

Which is required a function of --- sending a input(scanned barcode) from a phone(iPhone/Android Phone) to a Android tablet.(Most likely by using VNC)

So far, I could only manage to use iPhone as scanner(iPhone app) to scan the barcode and send it to Windows Operating System(by using "TightVNC"), or to Mac OS X(by using "Real VNC");
Which is for instance, open any editor in Windows or OS X, once the barcode is scanned from the phone, the text will transferred to Windows or OS X, and inputed to that editor automatically.

****But, I cannot get any App to display the input from phone to the tablet.***

I think, there should be no problem for establish the VNC connection between those two devices, specially since I have tried most of the free VNC servers in App store on the tablet.

By the way, I already managed to rooted the Android tablet, but still the input is not showing. I assuming, there are some other permissions are blocking the input which is sent from VNC client, in my case, from the phone. (Or maybe I need install other packages)

I am considering to buy a paid VNC server in the App store, to achieve the function for the tablet. But surely without waste any money of our funding.

So, dear App developer(s), if your VNC App in App store has this kind of function, I will be glad to get it and present it to my other friends in the further. Thank you very very much!!!!

Also, if there is anything you could think of that may help me to an achieve this task, please let me know, I am much much appreciated!!!!

Thank you very very much for your time.

Kindly regards

Tim(Shiguang)

success. Any suggestions? It seems to be a Windows 7 issue.

Idle Win 7 PC (not logged into) Still Require User Intervention

Hello all,

I require some assistance with TightVNC Server 2.6.4, please. When we
try to connect to a PC that no one is logged into, connect after
authentication, but it's still necessary to have to accept the incoming
request. It appears that we can either shut that feature off so
intervention isn't required at all for any instance, or turn it on so
it's the complete opposite. Our older XP boxes are running version 1.3.9
and it works as it should.

We're running Server/Viewer 2.6.4 on Windows 7 Ent. SP1

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Sincerely,

JS

TVNC assigning wrong resolution to server?

I've used tightvnc for years with no problem at all. The ability to copy/cut and paste between server and viewer is
amazing and very useful.

But, just recently, I installed TVNC 2.6.4 on a new Windows 7 (64 bit) machine. I'm trying to view, also with TVNC with
2.6.4 on a Windows XP machine. The first session, everything was fine. But now, when I start the session, I only see the
top left hand corner of the server screen, and the apparent cursor location does not correspond with the actual
location. Looking at the connection information, I see a resolution of 1280x720, but the actual resolution of the
server's screen is 1920x1080. I tried setting different resolutions on the server's machine via the standard windows
controls. The resolution numbers in the VNC connection information dialogue would also change, but they wouldn't match.

Seems like it could be a setup issue, but that theory doesn't jibe with the fact that it worked for the first session.
The windows 7 machine is 5000 miles away from me and what may have happened between the 1st session and subsequent
sessions is something only an omniscient being could disclose. (Example: "Now hit the enter key." Response:"Where's that?")

TightVNC on Windows 2.6.4 - numerous problems

I'm using TightVNC viewer 2.6.4 (installed without server) on Windows 7,
running on a Sony Vaio Z. This laptop uses a different graphics card
depending on whether it is attached to its docking station. I'm connecting
to the tightvnc 1.3.10-8.1.4 that comes with openSUSE-12.2-1.6, running on a
Dell rack server. I haven't changed any of the server's VNC configuration,
except to add an additional server command at 5904 for 1920x1200 resolution.

It works fantastically well when it is working. But I am having numerous
problems connecting. I'm not able to find any web information about these
issues, so I'm guessing they are specific to my installation. None of these
problems occur with the RealVNC viewer. Here they are:

* Using Tight encoding causes an unreadable image. Repainted areas appear as
bluish speckled rectangles. Hextile works fine. I've tried turning off
various encoding parameters in the client options, with no change. The
problems occur with both graphics cards.

* I have different server commands on ports 5901, 5902 and 5903 to provide
different resolutions, which is the default configuration. The viewer can
only connect at 1024x768, on 5901 (:1). Attempts to connect at higher
resolutions result in the message "Pseudo encoding <nn...nn> not supported"
where <nn...nn> is some number -- very often -128, but sometimes an eight
digit number. I changed the server command for :2 to 1024x768 and it then
connects properly, so it is the resolution rather than the display number
that is the problem.

* Once that error occurs once, the viewer will seldom (if ever) connect at
all, even at 1024x768. The same error as above is produced. Rebooting
Windows 7 clears that problem.

When it does connect, as I mentioned, it works very well. However, when
disconnecting, it produces one of these messages chosen at random:

 "Connection gracefully closed by host."
"Failed to send data to socket."
"Failed to recv data from socket."

The "pseudo encoding..." error is the showstopper for me. I would like very
much to connect at 1920x1200, my display resolution.

I'd be grateful for any new directions; I've been fighting with this issue
for several days.

Thanks,

Derry

Applet screen distortion on Mac OS X with Oracle Java Plugin

Hi,

After installing the Oracle Java plugin on 2 Macbooks (one running 10.7.5
and another running 10.8.x), I'm seeing the following screen distortion on
top of the applet when inserted in a web page :

<http://tightvnc.10971.n7.nabble.com/file/n3504/vnc-viewer-distored-java-plugin.png>

This issue started occurring on Mac OS X system that don't have the Apple
provided Java Plugin anymore. The same Oracle Java Plugin version on Windows
doesn't seem to experience this issue.

Any ideas ? Is this a known issue and is there a way to fix this ?

Auto-Scroll in Full Screen

I apologize if this has been answered, but I have searched and cannot find
it!

I have installed the latest version 2.6.4 on all of my systems (this problem
started with previous version update) my systems are running Windows 8 Pro &
one Server 2012.

When I go to full screen mode and screen resolution is larger than viewing
screen, on all systems, I have side & bottom scroll bars, where-as before
the screen would auto-scroll as I moved the mouse around. I read on the
website that auto-scroll is still an option, but I cannot find where I
enable the option.

Please, if anyone can give me some direction/instruction it would be much
appreciated! And, again, I apologize if this is something covered
previously.
