generar y proteger bienes comunes, conocernos y dar soluciones
colectivas a problemáticas que interfieren nuestras vidas. Queremos

cambio y dispuestas a actuar.

- Encontrar soluciones colectivas a problemáticas que interfieren
nuestras vidas.

I would like to make new page in the wiki, named something like "Contents" with a list of all pages, translated in Bulgarian
language. This page may be managed by translaters and will have different contents for different languages. A link from main page to
"Contents" must be created.

Yes, I know there is a special page "All pages", but there is no page "All pages in your language".

What is your opinion?

Regards!

<pre>Hi all,

When I use the API:data formats[1] to try to convert/export wiki pages
to xml files, I got different results between wikipedia and fedora wiki
website, eg:

* The one on wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&amp;titles=QA&amp;export&amp;exportnowrap

I can get the xml version of the page.

* the one on fedora:

http://fedoraproject.org/w/api.php?action=query&amp;titles=QA&amp;export&amp;exportnowrap

I can't get the page info.

Do I miss something? And what is the normal way to export wiki pages from fedora websites if it doesn't work?

Many thank,
Hurry

I am working on a reform of the Events page [1] and I figured out that
it would be advisable to have all the Qs not current hidden with an
implementation similar to {{hidden}} tag of wikipedia [2]. I tried to
test some approach [3] but apparently there is a plugin missing (?)
(the hide/show plugin on mediawiki probably?)

Any suggestions would be welcome!

The template currently inserts http:// in the link but not the displayed

There isn't too much work needed to fix this and am willing to do it, but I am
not too sure which way it should be fixed. My personal preference would be
that http show up in the displayed text as well, but others might feel

I figured I'd ask here for guidance. If I get some I'll fix it, otherwise

Request for mentor

<pre>Hello all,

I've already contributed a bit, but as I was reading Mike McGrath's
"How to be a successful contributor" Wiki article[1], I realized that
I hadn't really introduced myself. I also realized that I'd like a
sponsor/mentor. This is my attempt to remedy both of those. ;)

First of all, some quick facts[2]: My name is Aaron Faanes. My FAS
account and IRC nick is dafrito. I live in the central timezone.

I've been using *nix in some form for the past few years. I ran
FreeBSD a few years ago, then Ubuntu for about a year. I saw a talk by
Greg Kroah-Hartman that praised Fedora and Red Hat for their
commitment to upstream, so I switched and have been using it almost
exclusively ever since.

I'm a jack-of-all-trades sort of person. I've got a few years of
coding experience (python, java, lua, bash, javascript) working on the
tooling/docs/support side of things. Consequently, I feel like I could
have posted this sponsor request to the test, docs, and websites
mailing lists all with similar levels of enthusiasm.

However, I decided to request a wiki mentor since the wiki seems to be
where I've found my groove. I've done some writing[3], some template
work[4], and I'd be interested to continue that work. I've also made
some suggestions (some good, some not-so-good ;) ), and I'd like to
work with a sponsor to guide me towards the ideas that have consensus
and interest. I've also had an interest in being an admin for the
Wiki, so a sponsor could help see if I'm up for that task as well.

I'd like to start small. I feel like there's a tendency, at least for
myself, to dive into too much and get overwhelmed, so I feel like a
sponsor would help ensure that things don't get too crazy. As far as
timing is concerned, I can commit two to three afternoons (10-15
hours) a week.

Thank you for your consideration,
Aaron Faanes

Some wiki article names are ambiguous

<pre>I feel like there's usability issues with some articles in the Fedora
Project wiki. Here's a sample of some of them:

    * Websites
    * Women
    * L10N
    * Overview

I believe that these pages should be renamed to be more indicative of
their content. Specifically, "Fedora" should be included for project
pages, non-wiki-like titles such as "Overview" should be renamed, and
esoteric abbreviations like L10N should be expanded.

    * Websites -&gt; Fedora Websites
    * Women -&gt; Fedora Women
    * L10N -&gt; Fedora Localization
    * Overview -&gt; Fedora Project (or perhaps simply Fedora)

Most pages should not include Fedora, since the Fedora wiki already
implies a bias towards Fedora-related information. For example, I
expect a page on Red Hat contributions to contain contributions that
Red Hat has made to Fedora, so I feel like this is a suitable name.

I don't think this bias is a strong enough reason to exclude it from
project pages. I'm not likely to assume that page called "Websites" is
a project page since the name gives me no indication. The repetition
of "Fedora" and the capitalization in "Fedora Websites" in the URL
reinforces the fact that the page is about a group called "Fedora
Websites," rather than websites in Fedora.

Redirects from "Fedora *" do not sufficiently solve the problem. The
title on the article page will still be without "Fedora" and so will
still evoke confusion. Tooltips shown by mousing over a link will also
show this ambiguous title.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't think the repetition of "Fedora" is necessary.
http://fedoraproject.org/docs reads much better than
http://fedoraproject.org/fedora_docs. This is because I read it as
"the docs page in the Fedora Project" and I am not confused. More
importantly, I don't have any learned expectations about its content.

Wiki pages do have learned expectations. When given a URL to a wiki
page, I expect that the content will be an article, and I expect the
last part of the URL is the article title. This is why URLs like
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki do not strike me as redundant or
confusing. On the other hand, I would be confused if
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview contained an overview of the
Wikipedia.

Our wiki sadly violates these expectations. We name some articles
using a "naive" convention, so the page's subject is ambiguous.

<pre>
Greetings everyone,

Glad to meet you here. I have a question about wiki syntax. I wanna have
some Collapsible tables on my wiki pages, like
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Collapsing
But when I use the same example code as it suggested, it doesn't work on
fedora wiki page, since the following js file is needed:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js

So I want to know if it is possible and allowable to have fedora wiki
run this js? If yes, how to load this file? If no, is there any other
way to have Collapsible tables on fedora wiki?

Many thanks,
Hurry (￣▽￣")

<pre>(This is a repost in order to start this thread in the wiki mailing
list. Sorry for the noise.)

Hey everyone,

I've been working a lot with the Fedora wiki recently, and I've been
accumulating some style ideas as I've been editing. I ended up writing
some of my thoughts and suggestions:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Dafrito/Style_guide

I'm interested in what you guys have to think about it - especially in
what sections represent areas of consensus or disagreement.

The guide uses a formal voice for clarity, but I intend for any
guideline to be friendly, incremental, and flexible. It's not an
all-or-nothing proposal. :) I mean no offense to any other editors,
and I apologize in advance if I appear rude in the document.

Thank you,

Wiki page removal

<pre>Hi,

We (the french team) used to have this page for our archives of IRC meetings:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/FrenchTeam/Reunions/Archives

We also had a lot of old stuff in our main page.

Today, I moved everything properly in the Archive namespace, where it belongs.

So I'd like to have the aforementionned page removed, as it has no use
anymore (and I'm pretty confident no one has ever used it).

How can that be done ?

Best regards,

----------

Looks like the user "Georgia10" just inserted spam on that page.
