<pre>Hi,

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:OuterSpace_Sample.jpg

As far as I can tell, the above image should not have been uploaded to
the wiki. It appears neither the creator of this image has not signed
the Fedora CLA, nor is the content provided under an acceptable license
for inclusion in Fedora or the wiki [1].

Let me know if this is not the case. Otherwise, I am going to file a
ticket to have this ticket removed.

Please, think twice before uploading content that YOU PERSONALLY did not
create to our wiki. It's okay to upload someone else's work - if it's
under the appropriate license - but if it's not, do not upload it. If
you have any question as to whether or not something can be uploaded or
used, please ask before doing anything with it.

We need to be very careful about the licensing of any artworks we use
and/or upload to Fedora servers - I would like this team to serve as a
model of responsible asset usage, but we can't do this if we are
careless.

Thanks,
~m

<pre>Alright, sounds like a reasonable time for an update on the design
suite. From what I can see, we've the nightly snapshot builds working!

This is an awesome possibility for testing the images before they get
released, as those builds represent always the latest state. They are
available here:
http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/design-suite/

In other news, I'd like to slim the whole thing a little more down, as
we're reasonably close to a good size and Nicu also noted that we're
shipping duplicating apps quite some use-cases right now.

More news to come... ;)

<pre>Hi,

I spent some time this weekend working on another iteration of the
Fedora rocket lines idea [1]. Tatica put together a 3D rocket in Blender
[2], so I used this rocket to make a new composition roughly based on
the rocket lines sketch:

http://fedorapeople.org/groups/designteam/Resources/Fedora%20Release%
20Themes/F13/Alpha/Rocket%20Trails/rockets5a.png

Inkscape Source:
http://fedorapeople.org/groups/designteam/Resources/Fedora%20Release%
20Themes/F13/Alpha/Rocket%20Trails/skytrails1.svgz

Rocket trails on transparent BG:
http://fedorapeople.org/groups/designteam/Resources/Fedora%20Release%
20Themes/F13/Alpha/Rocket%20Trails/rockets.png

Gimp source:
http://fedorapeople.org/groups/designteam/Resources/Fedora%20Release%
20Themes/F13/Alpha/Rocket%20Trails/rockets5.xcf.gz

Do you have any ideas for improvement or how to work this more? I think
it may be too literal, and by default maybe we should take the rockets
and stars out or something and just work with the trails only for an
abstract pattern. Not sure though. What do you think? Critique
please! :)

<pre>I've been following the posts on this subject and here is what I am
thinking:

What if its an outer space scene with stars (having animated twinkles
... for the boot-up background image)? There would be asteriods and,
may be, one or two planets with 'our' rocket somewhere in the picture.
The scene would have a blueish hue to it. Its the kind of thing that is
best done with a 3D application like 'Blender' and rendered with V-Ray
or Yafray (and retouched in GIMP). I cannot help thinking about a
wallpaper I downloaded from CG-Arena ... just to help our imaginations
as I can't think of anything closer at the moment. My reference is a
bit busy but I hope it paints the right mental pictures.

See: http://fedoradesigns.twohotis.fastmail.fm/OuterSpace_Sample.jpg

I also see that we have limited time to agree on this based on
design-team Digest, Vol 9, Issue 32

[Design-team] Marketing team seeks Design advice: FAD tools (brandbook)

<pre>O design team:

The Marketing team is having a FAD in mid-March
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010) and as part of this
FAD we are making a brand book
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Day_2_.28Sunday.2C_March_14.29).

We're trying to figure out what (software) tools (and people who know
how to use them) we should have on hand during the FAD, and were
wondering if the Design Team had any recommendations (or better yet, any
people who might be interested in tag-teaming on the brand book with us. ;)

We'll be on IRC the entire time - if it helps, we could schedule an hour
of design brainstorming at the beginning, and then later in the NA
afternoon after we get content in, come back for another design sprint
on how we could best lay it out and such. But we /will/ be on IRC the
entire time, and anyone's welcome to pop in and work with us anytime
during that day they're free.

The list we have so far is at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Materials_.2F_Tools -
it's basically "Inkscape and Scribus?" at the moment. What else would
you suggest? Should we do what we did for
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_12_one_page_release_notes and put
the content on the wiki as we work? Is Gobby better? Should we try for
collaborative Inkscape? (What questions should we actually be asking here?)

Many thanks,

<pre>Hey design team,

This email is the result of me just wandering around addons.mozilla.org
for a while looking for anything interesting. I'm curious if you've
seen these Fedora-related personas for Firefox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=fedora&amp;cat=personas&amp;appid=1&amp;pp=5

Couple of thoughts:

(1) It might be cool for the Fedora Design Team to make some official
ones for either different versions and/or spins of Fedora.

(2) There might be some recruiting fodder in here, to invite some of
these designers to join the team. The information below is what I found
on Google:

http://www.getpersonas.com/gallery/designer/pshevtsov -- has written in
to Ask Fedora a few times in Fedora Weekly News.

http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/gallery/designer/dfragnul -- couldn't
really find anything.

http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/gallery/designer/magjogui -- already a
Fedora contributor (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Magjogui) and on
the Cc.

http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/gallery/Designer/Kenshin__ -- the page
says "Open-source Artworker"

http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/gallery/designer/marvin5700 -- Google
doesn't actually show much.

Gotta love the internets.

<pre>Hi,
I was thinking how black holes would fit into the idea of Goddard theme.

Was doing a bit of research. Seems most existing images are quite
violent in contrast and colors, which would destroy the purpose of a
wallpaper.

But a bit of softening might yield a good design.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/gsfc/4253934347/ is quite Cambridge-ish,
but the idea is nice.

Games spin additions

<pre>For F13 I have added 'chess', 'kcheckers' and 'btanks' to the Games spin.
There have been no removals. (Maelstrom was temporarily removed due to
license issues, but got fixed.)
Barring license issues or a significant increase in the size needed for the
base desktop, I expect the current list of games to be what is in the spin at
release.

f13 rockets simple sketch

<pre>Hi,

I had this idea in my head all week; I did a very simple sketch and
posted it to the f13 artwork wiki:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:F13-concept-rocketlines.png

It's a really rough sketch. The concept is really along the lines of
what all of our sketches have, I think. But the visual style I'd want to
go for is like this Modest Mouse album:

http://www.kolnstyle.com/lbmcvrz/Modest%20Mouse-GNFPQLBN.jpg

I think it would be cool for the trails of the rockets to have an
organic shape to them like they're flower stems or something.

Maybe a kooky idea, just something that's been in my head this week.
