/dev/cdrom is supported - but not /dev/usb - at booting ?

<pre>Hello world !

It is not only concerning Installation-CD / DVD of Debian 6.0.4 (for AMD-64) ...
it is concerning many Installation-CD / DVD - distributions of Linux.

I have an 2-year-old USB-DVD-Drive of LG with device-name in BIOS:
HL-DT-STDVDRAM GP08LU11.

It is recognized by BIOS as USB-Drive, but not by installation-CD/DVD ...
somehow installation-CD/DVD is fixed on
/dev/cdrom
but not "understanding"
/dev/usb
or
/media/usb

I know - this is trivial ...
not knowing if this is a matter of kernel ?

Happy Coding.

Regards.
Val.

<pre>Hello dear kernel-testers,

attached is a file of dmesg - output.

kernel 3.2 is booting too long ?
automatic recognition of cdrom fails (Matshita-combo-drive in notebook).
It takes 1 minute of kernel-booting for that.
cdrom-drive is recognized when automatic recognition switches off
after 1 minute.
but there is "error"-announcement of cdrom-drive.

I have no trouble with cdrom when using k3b, brasero, nautilus and so on.

what can I do for to shorten boot-time about 1 minute ?

For reply thanks.

Regards.
Val.

<pre>Hello kernel-testers,

sorry for the trash of myself like you see below.

In the meantime I solved this problem, by installing the house-made
packages of debian-drivers
for NVIDIA-cards.

It works now with no problems.

Regards.
Val.

<pre>Hello dear testers,

I don't know, if this problem is kernel-specific or Debian-specific or
nvidia-specific :

When I want to compile 3.2.2 with:

make all

after a while it breaks off with:

  LD drivers/gpu/vga/built-in.o
  LD drivers/gpu/built-in.o
ld: error: drivers/gpu/vga/built-in.o: incompatible target
make[2]: *** [drivers/gpu/built-in.o] error 1
make[1]: *** [drivers/gpu] error 2
make: *** [drivers] error 2

The Debian-own nvidia-drivers-package is installed and is working fine so far.

How can I avoid this error above ?
It should work ... with kernel 3.2.2

For feedback tuvm.
Regards.
Val.

know either and we'll add them to the list. Also, please let us know if any of
the entries below are invalid.

The entries below are simplified and the statistics are not present due to the
