Hi Team

I am looking for a sponsor for an update to the package "solr".

* Package name    : solr
  Version         : 1.4.1+dfsg1-3

This update addresses the important/confirmed issues in the Debian bugtracker
and integrates changes from Ubuntu.

In addition I will be picking up the maintenance of this package until I
complete work on solr3/lucene3. I would like to re-introduce this to wheezy
before freeze.

I have uploaded to git.debian.org:
 - ssh://git.debian.org/git/pkg-java/solr.git
 - http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-java/solr.git

It would be great if someone could review, upload and tag this package for me.

The DMUA field is already set in this package which I assume means I will be able
to upload it in the future - if this is not the case please could the appropriate
action be taken to allow this.

Hi Team

I am looking for a sponsor for an update to the package "libcommons-codec-java".

* Package name    : libcommons-codec-java
  Version         : 1.6-1

This update includes a new upstream release which implements features required
to support packaging of lucene 3.6.0 which I am currently working on.

The upstream release includes four additional bug fixes, migration to Java5 and
an upgrade to use junit4 as well as the require new codec for lucene3.

How can I enable jsp support?

I have not yet installed jetty8-extras. It depends on jstl1.1-java but the 
package name should be libjstl1.1-java.

I want to introduce a cli option parsing library for maven-debian-helper. 
There a tons of such java libraries out there:

Just FYI, I had a look, which of these we have in Debian:

- libcommons-cli-java
- libjargs-java
- libjcommander-java
- libjoptsimple-java
- libgetopt-java
- libargs4j-java
- liboptions-java

Sh...ugar.. I thought looking into what is packaged would make the choice 
easier...

rule outs:

- libcommons-cli-java - I don't like Apache Commons stuff
- libargs4j-java - Is modelled after javac's broken options, not GNU style
- liboptions-java - AFAIK only used by one project
- libjargs-java - very low activity upstream, last release 2005?
- libgetopt-java - ancient (2000) Java style, only translation updates since 
then

good:

- libjcommander-java - active, documented, Git, Unit Tests
- libjoptsimple-java - active, Git, Unit Tests, Code Quality Tools, 
POSIX/getopt style, documented

Jcommander's documentation looks more inviting. So I'll start with that one.

jetty maintenance?

Hi,

the jetty package seems to be in kind of a sorry state (thanks Niels for the 
last upload!). Upstream is at version 8.1 and Debian on 6.

- Is anybody currently working on Jetty?

- Should we skip version 7 and directly package 8?

- Can the Jetty packaging repo be converted to Git?

- Should we update the jetty package to version 8 or introduce a new jetty8 
package and keep jetty 6 as plain jetty?

I maybe need spring-security 3.0 to package jamwiki (do you know it?). But it 
is not packaged. What's the reason? Other spring 3.x stuff is packaged.
I might help out with spring packaging. But could we move the packaging to Git 
beforehand?

Transition from junit to junit4

Hi all,

We have considerable number of packages (close to 200) in archive
which build depend on junit package (3.x version). Considering that
this version has been unsupported for long time by upstream authors,
do you think it is time to transition packages to junit4 as and when
possible?
junit4 is backward compatible with junit. Also considering that in
most cases this is just a build dependency, as long as build does not
fail with junit4 we are safe with the transition. We need not make
this a compulsion. Just make the change if you are working on other
updates for any package.

Let me know your thoughts.
