<pre>I recently had a wander round 'Poundland' and found some very small tupperware-like plastic boxes on sale for 99pence. As there were ten of them it seemed to be rather a bargain so I bought them.

When I got them home and examined them I found that they hold just over 25g of snuff, and its well sealed. There is a loud snap when you close the pot, and in just over a fortnight of using them I haven't had any spillage or leakage in them. I haven't been able to discern any 'off-smells' from the plastic, and neither can I discern any loss of flavour or taste of the snuff. Seems like a good cheap snuff box, and durable too.

Mark.

<pre>Hi group,

Well my snuff woes last December were not the fault of my supplier, it was a case of the mail system here (and likely the Royal Mail as well) being overloaded for the holidays. Be that as it may, I ordered in the first week of the month and my tub of IHT#22 didn't show up until nearly New Years. I've been in that less then comfortable situation before.

A few days before Christmas I couldn't take it anymore and set out for the one place I know that carries American dry snuff, resolved to resort to 'sweet' snuff (no doubt designed for oral use not sniffing) as I was that desparate and this establishment had been out of Scotch snuff (slightly less unacceptable) for a very long time.

Along came a true Christmas blessing. They had Tube Rose Scotch snuff. Again, really awful, but saved me from going over the cliff. I didn't use all that Tube Rose, and needless to say it sat on the shelf forgotten as soon as my beloved Wilsons arrived.

Now the same Tube Rose has just kept me on the right side of said cliff while waiting for my next tub, which arrived a few minutes ago :)

Thanks for your help Tube Rose, now see ya (till next time)

<pre>Hi everyone,
I have been searching the internet for a group interested in Snuff for quite some time! The reason being, my father is the renowned antique dealer Gary Munday owner of Mostly Boxes, Eton, UK. We have recently gone live online, our website www.mostlyboxesantiques.com and we specialise in antique snuff boxes of all types, which is why I've posted! In addition to making you aware of our treasure trove of snuff boxes I was also hoping for some advice on any groups or websites that may also be interested in snuff boxes.
Thanks for taking the time in reading my post.
Kind Regards,
Sarah Munday

Julia &amp; Tim,

The world is becoming an increasingly dark place. With troops dying all
around the globe – allegedly to protect 'our' freedoms at home –
we find ourselves living in a global prison-grid. That said, I've cured
numerous people of cancers and I've even cured a dog. It's quite simple
and inexpensive, but the governments, working hand in glove with the
pharmaceutical companies, ensure that no one ever hears about 'chlorine
dioxide'.

Thank you both for the wonderful snuff you've provided for me in
Australia. Thank you for your prompt service and commitment. I wish you
both every success that governments around the world allow you to have.

And that your chains rest lightly upon you both as you kiss the hand
which feeds you.

<pre>
If you have a good, hard look at what's going on in the global economy
it would definitely be well worth your while to stock up on snuff. And
do it now! The dry, dusty toasts – particularly the American scotch
styles – are the best to store. Because these are dry they'll
basically store forever. With a little practice you can blow your head
clean off with these. Great value for money. Moreover, these can easily
be scented should you wish to do so. Also the Fribourg and Treyer tinned
snuffs tend to keep really well – particularly Old Paris.

I can see a very bad time coming and the last thing that any of us needs
is to be short of nasal snuff. There'll be enough to deal with without
the added burden of nicotine withdrawal. I recommend storing enough to
get you through at least a couple of years. I've got enough to last
longer than that. Also, although tissues are disposable, handkerchiefs
are washable.

We're about to enter the perfect storm: economic depression, currency
collapse (and the American dollar and Euro are world currencies, so when
these collapse it will affect everyone on the planet), financially and
morally bankrupt governments and an ageing population whose pensions
have been squandered and dreams of old age destroyed. The last thing I
need is to run out of nicotine.

Matter for you, of course.

Al.

[ Snuff Box The Nasal Snuff Club] More adventures in snuffing

<pre>I have a dear friend who lives in Wales. Over the last six months, we've spent a fair amount of time conversing via Skype. She has watched me, throughout all of those conversations, happily sniffing my snuff. She's asked a few questions about it, but not many. I think she thought maybe it was just a little weird.

My friend is a tobacco smoker, and a relatively heavy smoker at that. Because she has trouble finding her favorite tobacco (Golden Virginia) in Wales, and it's readily available where I live in Germany, I bought some for her as a gift recently. I boxed it up with a few other things, including two containers of snuff (FC Bayern and Gawith Apricot, both by Pöschl). I wrapped the snuff in a pretty flowered handkerchief, mostly just because it looked nice but also because the handkerchief would obviously be useful.

She received the parcel yesterday. We were chatting via instant message and she said she was a little bit afraid to try the snuff. A few hours later, she decided she wanted to give it a try. So we fired up Skype so we could do this together, as she wasn't sure how to even open the containers, let alone what to do with the product.

My friend is a life-long user of one of those Vicks menthol inhaler sticks, which she affectionately refers to as her "schnozzle stick." I hadn't even thought about the possible connection to her schnozzle stick, but ...

My friend hesitantly took a sniff of the FC Bayern. Within seconds, she exclaimed, "I LOVE it! Love it! This is so ... lush!" (That's a compliment, of course, and one of the highest order.) She sniffed into her other nostril. Same reaction. Then she exclaimed, "I have been looking for this my whole life! This is the best present anyone has given me, ever. It's not often that you reach 50 years of age and haven't tried something new. But this is new to me, and I LOVE it!"

My friend tried the Apricot snuff and loves it perhaps even more. She
has decided that snuff is the perfect combination of tobacco and
schnozzle stick. I didn't even realize that she desires to give up smoking, but she is certain she can replace smoking with snuff.

She has also decided she no longer needs the schnozzle stick. It got a little silly, but we both decided that poor Mr. Schnozzle Stick already looked lonely and sad, knowing he would no longer be needed. If you turn a stick like that a certain way in your hand, it looks like ... well ... you gentlemen here can figure that out, LOL ...

Anyway, I just wanted to share that story. I am on a quest to bring snuff back into vogue, and particularly among women. One down ... many to go ...

Happy snuffing,

Lori
Dotzheim

[ Snuff Box The Nasal Snuff Club] An American woman's snuffing adventures in Germany

<pre>No, this is NOT a spam email of the type we've been seeing lately. (Yikes!)

I had a funny little thing happen yesterday that I just wanted to share with this group, because almost no one else will really appreciate it. Because I am "Lori with a story," this will of course be a longer email than is probably necessary. :-)

I moved from the U.S. to Germany in March. Knowing that Germany is the source of my favorite brand of snuff (Pöschl), I wasn't too concerned with bringing a lot of snuff with me. Soon after arriving in the Dotzheim neighbourhood of Wiesbaden, I saw that the grocery store closest to my apartment (REWE) carried Pöschl's Gletcher Prise in its locked tobacco case. Gletcher Prise is not my favourite, but due to various circumstances I've probably used it more than any other variety.

So I bought Gletcher Prise, at a price of 1.80 € per container, regularly ... until that REWE decided for whatever reason to stop carrying it. (I do have to say that I got some stern looks from at least one of the cashiers when I requested containers, but then women taking snuff is not all that common, and apparently even less so in Germany.) That REWE is the only one I've ever visited, so I don't know if it was just that store's decision to stop carrying snuff, or if it's a company-wide policy. (Oddly, even in a lot of local Tabakwaren shops, snuff is not always part of the inventory ... or it could just be that they don't want to sell it to a female. I've thought about asking merchants for snuff "für meinen Mann" just to make them think it wasn't for ME, but I'm not going to lie about it as I am not doing anything wrong by buying it for myself.)

There is an Imbiss across the street from the REWE. They carry Pöschl's FC Bayern, which I hadn't tried before. (2.20 € per container, but it's an Imbiss so of course the prices will be a bit higher.) I never buy anything else at that Imbiss, and as soon as I walk up to the window the store owner just reaches for my snuff (always with this weird little smile ... again, a woman taking snuff!). That Imbiss did carry FC Bayern, that is, until (over the course of a few weeks) I bought all of their supply, including the container that was in the window to advertise that the Imbiss even had snuff for sale. The Imbiss owner told me he will be getting more, but as of yesterday that had not happened. (A younger man who was working there yesterday was completely baffled by my request for snuff. "Nasale Tabak?!")

So ... there's a Trinkhalle across the street from the Imbiss. I am kind of weirdly shy about going to places where I haven't been before, and I don't buy typically buy single beverages anyway, so I'd never even walked up to the window of the Trinkhalle. However, I was facing having to return to my apartment and "suffer" through at least one evening of using my "emergency" snuff ... W. E. Garrett &amp; Sons Scotch, "American" snuff. I don't like very dry, very fine snuff at all, but I picked up the Garrett Scotch and Sweet varieties in Texas before I left the U.S. because that's all I could find.

I decided to brave it and visit the Trinkhalle. The little old lady who was sitting inside of the very small building was knitting or something, and I had to get her attention. When I asked, "Haben Sie nasale Snus, bitte?" she seemed to be quite startled. Then she perked up as if remembering a long lost friend, turned around and produced an entire plastic, lidded display chock full of at least twelve varieties of Pöschl! I was surprised and thrilled. I chose a tin of Ozona Cherry and a box of FC Bayern (which I've come to quite like). The prices were better than the price at the Imbiss, and I nearly skipped home (and would have done so had I not been carrying a backpack full of groceries).

But the best news is yet to come. Back in February, right before I departed the U.S., I ordered $200 worth of snuff directly from Pöschl. I left the States kind of suddenly (not running from the law or anything, but this opportunity to come to Europe popped up and I was not going to turn it down), and the snuff never reached me at my North Dakota address. I have been trying, on and off, for months to contact Pöschl via email about the shipment. Finally, a few days ago, I succeeded in getting a reply from them, and they are shipping my order to my address in Wiesbaden! It should arrive any day.

There are actually a few more stories to tell about looking for snuff in Austria and Amsterdam (and being price gouged in both places), as well as running into a surprise display at an out-of-the-way fuel station near Landstuhl, Germany, but I'll save you all from further boredom.

Happy snuffing!

Lori
