HTML question in VC

"hello， i embed a "test.html" file in VC project as a HTML resource .
test.html file has many res files in its HTML tags 
when i navigate to the url "res://myapp.exe//106",  the IE control can show thepage.  but the images can't be shown.

how can i embed "2.PNG"  into VC project, and let the HTML page show the picture properly ??

Hi folks,

As per bugs 696790<http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/696790/atl-missing-general-dll-version-helpers>
 and 731919<http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/731919/wtl-8-1-in-vc-11>
on
Microsoft Connect, ATL 11 ceases to define AtlGetDllVersion,
AtlGetCommCtrlVersion, and AtlGetShellVersion, preventing WTL apps from
compiling with VS2012.

I propose to fix the problem by breaking this dependency on undocumented
ATL functions and adding the equivalent functions WtlGetDllVersion,
WtlGetCommCtrlVersion, and WtlGetShellVersion to atlapp.h. Any objections?

Does anyone know of a hotkey control subclass/replacement that improves the system msctls_hotkey32? I want to enable handling of the various keys the default control ignores, e.g. TAB, SPACE etc.

It needs some updates for unicode strings if anyone wants to look at that.  in 'ResourcelessDlg.h' at 'WriteString()'
Maybe this should just be simplified, to not convert any characters. Not sure.

WM_SYSCOMMAND SC_MOVE eats up mouse events and mouse up is not fired

My program is a chromeless window and I want to move the window when
user drag any part of my dialog. Once WM_SYSCOMMAND is used, all
subsequent mouse events are lost.

First I wrote a program to capture the mouse events and all working fine
with WTL.

The drag is working and the windows move along with the mouse. However,
OnMouseUp event is no longer fired.

Tried many different approach using WM_NCHITTEST, or ProcessMessage
setHandled to true/false without success.

Much appreciate if anyone has any suggestions  [Smile | :)]

OnInitDialog() and edit control

I have an edit control in a dialog (of type CDialogImpl<CCWEditDlg>)
At the dialog OnInitDialog() the control is not a window. (has no handle I assume)

How can I create it to manipulate it before the dialog is fully created?

Also, is there a really good example of creating controls 
programmatically?

WinHTTP question

I understand that WinHttp supports an option
(WINHTTP_OPTION_MAX_CONNS_PER_SERVER) that enables the caller to limit
how many local connections are used per remote server. Is there a way
to limit the number of server connections required per client?


i build many requests to download files from a server, it seems that the server has connection count restrictions for each IP,
should i use a semaphore in my program or winHTTP already has this setting ??

How to wait on events in main event loop (eg. using MsgWaitForMultipleObjectsEx()) ?

I want to be able to wait on events in the main event loop as well as
normal messages. I understand I can use MsgWaitForMultipleObjectsEx() as
shown in the second code fragment here:

I need a way to call different methods if different events get set.

The reason for this is that I want to be able to set an event in a
thread and have my main UI thread process it.

Is there a clean way to do this with WTL or should I derive a new class
from CMessageLoop, override Run() and copy most of the implementation
adding my extra code to hanbdle events ?

CToolTipCtrl problem in WTL

i attach a tooltip to a listview, and each time the cursor move to a listview item , the tooltip will show some corespoding infomation.
the tooltip can really show listview line number indicting which row the cursor is moving on, but the tooltip won't disappear. 
i want the tooltip disappear after 2 second.

Right-click on a checkbox in a CCheckListViewCtrl results in two WM_CONTEXTMENU messages...

I've noticed that a right-click on a checkbox in a CCheckListViewCtrl
results in two WM_CONTEXTMENU (also NM_RCLICK) messages being sent - one
for the mouse down (incorrect), and another for the mouse up (expected).
The point parameter indicating the cursor location, is incorrect for the
second message.

This appears to be a bug in Windows/Common Controls, as opposed to WTL,
as the MSDN docs states WM_CONTEXTMENU is generated after WM_RBUTTONUP
or WM_NCRBUTTONUP message, or when the user types SHIFT+F10 or when the
user presses and releases the VK_APPS key.

I only noticed this issue when I wrapped my call to TrackPopupMenuEx()
in a MFC style VERIFY() macro, which indicated it was failing on the
second WM_CONTEXTMENU message.

The odd thing is that when you call TrackPopupMenuEx() in the
WM_CONTEXTMENU handler function, the WM_CONTEXTMENU handler function is
called again BEFORE the WM_CONTEXTMENU handler function exits, and so
the second call to TrackPopupMenuEx() fails (no doubt due to the menu
already being displayed).

As a right-click changes the state of the checkbox, I thought about not
showing the context menu if the click occurs over the checkbox, and
initially put the following at the beginning of my handler:

Unfortunately, when the control is in detail mode, HitTest always
returns LVHT_NOWHERE.

My current solution is to ignore the WM_CONTEXTMENU on mousedown, but
still display the context menu:

This appears to be a bug in Windows/Common Controls, as opposed to WTL,
as the MSDN docs states WM_CONTEXTMENU is generated after WM_RBUTTONUP
or WM_NCRBUTTONUP message, or when the user types SHIFT+F10 or when the
user presses and releases the VK_APPS key.

I only noticed this issue when I wrapped my call to TrackPopupMenuEx()
in a MFC style VERIFY() macro, which indicated it was failing on the
second WM_CONTEXTMENU message.

The odd thing is that when you call TrackPopupMenuEx() in the
WM_CONTEXTMENU handler function, the WM_CONTEXTMENU handler function is
called again BEFORE the WM_CONTEXTMENU handler function exits, and so
the second call to TrackPopupMenuEx() fails (no doubt due to the menu
already being displayed).

As a right-click changes the state of the checkbox, I thought about not
showing the context menu if the click occurs over the checkbox, and
initially put the following at the beginning of my handler:

UINT flags;
HitTest(point, &flags);
if (flags & LVHT_ONITEMSTATEICON)
return;

Unfortunately, when the control is in detail mode, HitTest always
returns LVHT_NOWHERE.

My current solution is to ignore the WM_CONTEXTMENU on mousedown, but
still display the context menu:

If you don't want to display the context menu, just replace the above with:

Something like this could be added to
CCheckListViewCtrl::OnContextMenu(), as a workaround to the bug, with
the bRightClickOnCheckbox as a template parameter, to control whether
the menu is displayed.

WTL exit codes not zero...

I've only just noticed that Wizard based WTL frame apps have a return
code of 1 when the X button is clicked by default, and Wizard based WTL
dialog apps have a return code of 2 when the X is clicked (but returns
button ID if OK or Cancel button is clicked in a dialog app).

Is this to be expected as most GUI based Windows apps return zero to
signify no problems ?

Minor artefact with CScrollWindowImpl...

Hi Nenad,

I have controls derived from 'CScrollWindowImpl<MyControl, CFSBWindow>' and particularly a DataGrid.
I noticed that when I turned my mouse's wheel (even if I dont need to scroll) some parts of my control were flickering.
So I checked the atlscrl.h file's code, more precisely CScrollImpl and the OnMouseWheel handler (line #491 for the latest version of WTL) and found this:

This code means that if the mouse's wheel is turned then 
if(m_sizeAll.cy > m_sizeClient.cy) 
    it will scroll vertically and update (repaint) the client rect of the control
else
    it will scroll horizontally  and update (repaint) the client rect of the control

Which is by the way a very good idea.

But before scrolling horizontally (and  update the window) we have to check if it is necessary and it is necessary only
if(m_sizeAll.cx > m_sizeClient.cx) as there's no reason to scroll horizontally if the control width is not larger than the client width ;o)

I modified it like this:

if(m_sizeAll.cy > m_sizeClient.cy)
{
    for(int i = 0; i < zTotal; i += WHEEL_DELTA)
    {

and everything is perfect with my Grid, no more flickering!

I know it's a minor problem but this flickering was so annoying so I hope it helps.

Hello,

I wonder but I cannot find the reason.
The code is:

}

DoModal() hangs my WTL-based program. I believe the latest WTL build is used 
under Vista x64 + Sp2.
