    This bug occurs on systems where writing a zero-length string to an
    empty file does not update the file's modification timestamp.
    
    This leads to the messages.txt being downloaded almost endlessly, causing
    long delays for logged-in users. Visitors are not affected, because the
    messages.txt is only updated for logged-in users.

[PATCH] Allow admin access without configuring acls

Add a new config option 'easyadmin' that, if enabled, gives admin-rights
to a user if:
    a) He is authenticated via .htaccess or otherwise and his login is
       found in $REMOTE_USER.
    b) $REMOTE_USER == $conf['superuser'].

I run a dokuwiki for people that are authenticated via .htaccess and use
neither notifications nor any other stuff that would require an acl
setup. Since I do want to use admin-plugins I came up with this patch to
enable a single login to gain admin-rights. 

As it adds an alternative way to something that is quiet possible right
now I won’t be offended, if you don’t consider appling it. But for open-
source’s sake, here it is.

    Fix nested triggering of the same event
    
    Previously when in an event handler the same event was triggered again,
    only the handlers for the second event invocation were all executed, the
    handling of the "outer" event stopped after the handling of the inner
    event as they both used the same iterator of the hooks array. This
    caused caching bugs e.g. when both the include and the indexmenu plugin
    were enabled as both of them load metadata in the cache handler which
    triggers another renderer cache event.

Frontend improvements need review

Hi all,

About a month ago I finally managed to improve some parts of the 
DokuWiki frontend I planned to do for some years now. Part of that is 
finally the preparations for full HTML5 compatibility. Another part are 
general improvements [http://www.dokuwiki.org/devel:template_changes], 
specifically rewriting the TOC and search results, reducing the number 
of exe/css.php requests and improving how RTL styles are handled.

Template authors, this is your chance to get your say now rather than 
when it's too late. Can anyone interested please code review my pull 
request [https://github.com/splitbrain/dokuwiki/pull/93], so that it can 
be part of the next release?

While you're at it, there are also some other pull requests which need 
reviewing [https://github.com/splitbrain/dokuwiki/pulls]. As the code 
freeze is overdue, this should happen rather sooner than later.

    seems like phpunit will not run all test classes inside a file when
    giving it as an argument :-/
    
    I removed the error supression tests as these test a feature we do not
    have in our JSON class version (and shouldn't implement to keep as
    compatible as possible to the native JSON functions)

    avoid integer overflow in PassHash::pmd5 method
    
    Input iteration counts are squared in the function and passing something
    above 30 is giving integer overflows on 32 bit systems (and causes insane
    iteration counts on 64bit systems).

    reenabled password test
    
    according to Dominik Eckelmann  one of the tests fails on certain servers. I can't
    reproduce it. If you can, please open a bug report with as much info as

    rearranged the config options
    
    We had a lot of options lumped together under "Advanced Settings". I
    introduced two more categories and move a few options to other existing
    categories.
    I also reordered the appropriate entries in the source files to make it
    easier to find stuff when extending the options.

New PHPUnit based test suit

Hi everyone,

thanks to Dominik Eckelmann and Tobias Sarnowski, we now have a brand
new and much better test suite based on PHPUnit. This should make it
much easier for everyone to get the tests running (please do) and to
write new tests (please also do). PHPUnit also integrates nicely in
many IDEs if that's your thing.

I tried to update the documentation at
http://www.dokuwiki.org/devel:unittesting accordingly, but it's not
100% complete. Especially the very cool Integration Test stuff needs
some more documentation. It basically allows you to fake a HTTP
request to DokuWiki and then inspect the resulting HTML using a JQuery
like syntax. This makes a lot of things testable that weren't before
:-).

However a test suite is only as good as the tests. And even though we
already have 434 tests, that only cover a minimal part of DokuWiki. So
what I'd like to see is:

  * new features should only be integrated when accompanied by tests
  * when fixing a bug, a test that checks for that bug should be written first
  * when some code is touched or refactored, tests should be written for them
  * write tests for old code whenever you're bored or if you are a new
and want to learn about DokuWiki

What I'd like to see covered by tests next are all our configuration
options - any takers?

A system that automatically runs the test suite on our current git
branches is the next thing you may expect :-)
