mencoder and edl with too high values

<pre>Hello,

when I convert cutlists (from cutlists.at) for tv recordings (from
onlinetvrecorder.com) to edl files, I set the last endtime to a very high
value, because I don't know exactly the correct endtime of the recording.

MPlayer has no problem to play the recorded movie with the edl file, but when I
use mencoder to cut out the parts, it produces many "Skipping frame!" lines at
the end and never (?) stops! I have to press ctrl-c to stop it manually.

The cutted movie then plays normaly, but it would be better if mencoder would
recognise the end of the movie even If the last endtime is set to a very high
(beyond the end of the movie) value.

--with-extraincdir and --with-extralibdir flagsremoved?

<pre>Hello,
I am cross compiling MPlayer and I looked online to get some tips. Seems like the --with-extraincdir and --with-extralibdir flags are quite helpful in pointing configure script to my embedded platform's include and lib directories. However these flags have been removed from the configure script so now I am stumped how to cleanly configure the build for my system.

Is there a good reason why these were removed? Also, what is their replacement? Essentially, I have directfb and alsa built for my embedded system and I'd like configure to setup the mplayer build utilizing that rather than my Linux PC's resources.

Going through the configure options I don't see anything analogous to these flags so I am also wondering about the genius of removing them.

Thanks.

mime-type of the installed MPlayer executable?

<pre>I run the svn MPlayer on both Slackware and Ubuntu and in both cases
the mime-type of the installed executable seems a little odd:

-----
andrew&lt; at &gt;skamandros~$ file --mime-type -b /usr/bin/mplayer
application/x-sharedlib
----

where I would expect to see application/x-executable. Could possibly
be a local installation issue, in which case my apologies for wasting
time here, but I would be curious to see what is the normally expected
mime-type registered by others for the installed svn MPlayer
executable on their system.

Thanks for anybody who can look at this,

Andrew

vo_sdl crash with latest svn

<pre>
Hello all,

This is my first post here. The issue I've found is not too iportant for me
but I'd like to discard it's not about kernel or graphic driver related. I'd
bought a hp compaq last year with a i965 card that has issues with all xorg
intel dirver versions :).

Using sdl video output and changing resolution in fullscreen crashes mplayer
and let my desktop in a weird resolution. That happens with the latest mplayer
release and the latest mplayer svn snapshot downloaded from mplayer site and
copiled both with default options. It does NOT happen with debian binary
provided version (to be sure it wasn't a compile option used by Debian I've
tried compiling this git://anonscm.debian.org/pkg-multimedia/mplayer.git and it
works like debian binary, it doesn't crash).

I'm not a developer I've tried following this instructions:

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: filter video
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
  Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
  disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
  It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
  gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
  DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
  won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

I've compiled the svn mplayer with --enable-debug and ran `gdb mplayer'. But
using gdb X crashes totally and doesn't let me do the backtrace step :).

I just have the output of (useful?) mplayer -msglevel vo=9 -vo sdl video.mp4:

unset key bindings

<pre>Dear all,

I would like to disable some of the many mplayer key bindings. I use
mplayer for simple video watching, and I really don't have any use for
functions like "speed_mult" or "audio_delay". Sometimes I unintentionally
press wrong key and change something without knowing how to switch it back.

Is there a way, I could "unset" some of the key bindings, so that the keys
have no effect? I have tried to comment out the key definitions
in /etc/mplayer/input.conf, but that does not dissable them, but rather
keeps them at their default values

any advice would be appreciated

thanks,
Konrad

<pre>I've noticed that the 'aalib' or 'aa' video output plugin for MPlayer does
something it didn't do before: it uses inverse characters for display (black
text over white background). I've tried several combinations of aalib options:
noinverse , noreverse , nobold , noboldfont, but they don't work. I'm not sure
if the right syntax for passing arguments to the video output plugins is '-vo
aa -aa:noinverse' or '-vo aa:noinverse'. Anyone sucessfully passes arguments
to mplayer plugins?

I have M2TS files that have been recorded on a camera.

When I play them with mplayer, the audio is ok but the video stream plays
2x too fast.

I have tried using -speed .5 but both the audio and video are slowed by
half, so the audio is not understandable anymore.

How can I slow the video stream but keep the audio going at the same pace?

Thanks.

<pre>Hi,

I'm playing my DVDs in a 5.1 environment. Playing 6 channels is ok, and
playing stereo is also ok.

If a stereo channel contains Dolby Surround (4 channels), the surround
audio filter would come in. But is there a way to have mplayer
automatically use the surround filter when playing stereo with matrix
encoded surround? It should not be active if there's no embedded
surround signal, but automatically switch on 4 channels if they are
available (and of course, play 6 channels if the input has 6 channels).

<pre>Hi all,

My dekstop is FVWM-Crystal on gentoo. I have jack that run all the time
without pa but with the sound aloop module loaded for the alsa
only programs. mplaer use jack for audio.

With my precedent graphic card, a hi-end nvidia, all was fine at the
exception of the noise of the ventilator of this card. I changed it
for an ATI silent. I really appreciate the absence of noise, but I get
a new problem:

When shifting from X to a console with Ctrl+Alt+Fn, the sound
from mplayer disappear at the same time. It go back only when I shift
back to X with Alt+F7.

This must be related to the graphic card. I run it with the ATI fglxr
driver, and I didn't get this issue with the nvidia card. Also, with
the new one, the sound from audio only software like alsaplayer is not
interrupted.

Are you aware of this problem, and is it something else I can do than
to report it to AMD?

Best,
Dominique

<pre>
Hello,

I am on OpenIndiana and I have no problem to generate a 32-bit binary on my system.
However, when trying to generate a 64-bit binary, I have to manually comment
out a number of entries in the Makefile.

SRCS_QTX_EMULATION                   += #loader/wrapper.S
SRCS_COMMON-$(QTX_EMULATION)         += $(SRCS_QTX_EMULATION)
SRCS_WIN32_EMULATION                 += #loader/elfdll.c \
                                        #loader/ext.c \
                                        #loader/ldt_keeper.c \
                                        #loader/module.c \
                                        #loader/pe_image.c \
                                        #loader/pe_resource.c \
                                        #loader/registry.c \
                                        #loader/resource.c \
                                        #loader/win32.c \

Or else I get an error that is similar to the one described in the URL below:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5485468/x86-assembly-pushl-popl-dont-work

Also, I have --disable-qtx since libmpcodecs/vd_qtvideo.c contains code like the following:

#ifdef CONFIG_QUICKTIME
#include &lt;QuickTime/ImageCodec.h&gt;
#define dump_ImageDescription(x)
#else
#include "loader/ldt_keeper.h"
#include "loader/qtx/qtxsdk/components.h"
#include "loader/wine/winbase.h"
#include "loader/wine/windef.h"
#endif

Because I think these are dirty hacks, I was wondering if there any clean way to compile in 64-bit mode?

Regards,

A.S.

<pre>A friend of mine wants to get some personal (but not that personal!) VHS tapes
converted to DVD, and some audio (I think she said cassettes) to CD.

I just thought I'd ask here if anybody is interested in doing this (at a low
price) or knows of a low priced service.

Thanks!

Can't play some videos now.

<pre>Hi

I have a problem playing (some) videos with MPlayer.
It was OK with svn36171
but when I updated to svn36210 it gives error:-
"Dropping frame with size not matching configured size"
"Too many buffered pts"

Sound plays OK, but video is just a white screen.
Using Ubuntu-11.04.
Problem still there with svn35233.

This is the type of video that's causing problems...
Here ---&gt; http://www.mediafire.com/?dpuy3iodon7ft77

svn36171 plays OK:-

<pre>Hi, these samples now work in mplayer (the last two with --disable-decoder=jpeg2000). This was a passing curiosity for me really, as I personally haven't had any Digital Cinema files to play (as of yet). Thanks for the fixes anyway.

<pre>I've noticed some changes additions to mplayer concerning jpeg2000 recently. The sample from http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/jpeg2000/jpeg2000_mxf_first_10mb.mxf doesn't play. Also the sample as mentioned on http://blogs.bu.edu/mhirsch/2012/08/playing-motion-jpeg-2000-mj2-videos-from-matlab/ (Rotate180CCW-checkerboard.mj2) doesn't play. Another sample http://www.openjpeg.org/samples/Speedway.mj2 doesn't play either. All these samples do play with an older ffplay but not with a current (ffmpeg) build(2nd May 2013).

Regards.
