    <description>Hey Frank 'n all

Just wanted to say a huge big thank you for this fabulous software. Just
discovered it and downloaded it last night and love it already.

Just how I like my software - tidy n clean, as functional as it needs to be
(and more importantly no more functional than needs be !!!) and not bloat
ware like certain companies software that shall remain nameless :-) .

I love that its so neat n tidy, easy to use - great functionality and
nothing unnecessary - I hope it stays this way as it develops and doesn't
become bloated as it grows.

As I use it more I may give some feedback on any enhancements I feel may be
useful, if I may ?, and doubtless I will ahve some questions.

Again many thanks and keep up the good work :-)

    <description>Hi Frank

OK here's my first enhancement request.

I have just added an entry and was going to get it to repeat every other day
only to find that there are only Set periods one can choose from. Would it
be a lot of work to make this more flexible ? The way I would love to see
it is - 2 drop down boxes with one offering daily/weekly/monthly/annually
and the other to allow a number so e.g. you could choose daily and then 3 so
it would then just repeat every third day or even in similar fashion to
outlook so you can pick weekly but then also choose which days of the week.

I just feel the current set up is too limiting - I have set the task in
question to daily but really only want it every other day - what do you
think ?

Anyone else feel this would be useful ?

Thanks

Mike

    <title>Effort per category</title>
    <link>http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.pim.taskcoach/268</link>
    <description>Good morning!

Although I appreciate the feature to monitor the efforts "per day" /
"per week", I miss the possibility to track the effort not just by
task, but also per category. With that it would be possible to check
e.g. how much time someone spends with common tasks, or works on
different projects.
Is there any possibility to see the categories in the efforts window?

Nice regards,

Manfred

    <title>[ANN] Release 0.70.4 of Task Coach</title>
    <link>http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.pim.taskcoach/265</link>
    <description>Hi,

I'm happy to announce release 0.70.4 of Task Coach. This release fixes
some bugs:

Bugs fixed:

* Allow Task Coach to be installed on Ubuntu 7.10.
* Task Coach wasn't notifying users of new versions.
* When merging, merge notes too.
* When the notes feature is turned off, hide the 'Create new note'
menu item in the category pop up menu.
* Fixed a translation bug.
* Hide/show the main window with one click on the task bar icon
instead of a double click (Linux only).
* The Task Coach main window would get a very small size if it was
started minimized and had not been restored in the previous session.

What is Task Coach?

Task Coach is a simple task manager that allows for hierarchical
tasks, i.e. tasks in tasks. Task Coach is open source (GPL) and is
developed using Python and wxPython. You can download Task Coach from:

http://www.taskcoach.org

In addition to the source distribution, packaged distributions are
available for Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X, and Linux (Debian and RPM
format).

Note that Task Coach is alpha software, meaning that it is wise to
back up your task file regularly, and especially when upgrading to a
new release.

Cheers, Frank

I've been using Task Coach for a couple of months and just started
using Schedule World. I wanted to try out the experimental version
that allows syncing with SyncML.

I'm getting the following error:
"An error occurred in the synchronization.
Error code: 2052; message: HTTP server error: 500. Server Failure."

I've triple check my credentials and settings.

Is this a Task Coach error or a Schedule World problem?

My Details:
TC: Version syncmlrc1, August 17, 2008
PC: WinXP Pro SP2

Please let me know what other data I can provide.

Thanks!

    <description>
I am fairly new to TC. So far, I like it a lot. I have been looking
forward to seeing some of the planned improvements.

This morning I got a rude shock, though:

* I left TC running overnight
* This morning I normalized it
* I noticed that tasks due to start today were still greyed out
* I killed it (clicked on the "X" button)
* I restarted it, expecting my tasks to display correctly

Big Bad Surprise
* When it restarted, it was totally vacant -- neither tasks, and nor
categories -- it had lost all of my data!

Help needed:
Presumably the data was stored in a file. What is the file name, so I
can try to recover it from last night's backups?

Thanks,
Bob

    <description>

Hi Frank et al,

Is there any way to merge two categories into a single category? Here's
the basic situation:

- I have two categories.
- I have a bunch of tasks, with large numbers of them assigned to each
category.
- I now want to combine the categories, and have the tasks which were
assigned to the two separate categories now assigned to the merged
category.

    <link>http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.pim.taskcoach/240</link>
    <description>Hi,

I'm happy to announce release 0.70.3 of Task Coach. This release fixes
a few bugs introduced in the previous release.

Bugs fixed:

* wxPython 2.8.8.1 generates images in a new, backwards incompatible
way, even when told not to do that. This bug affects users that have
an older version of wxPython installed and use one of the Linux
packages. Fixed by adding the relevant pieces from wxPython 2.8.8.1 to
the Task Coach sources.
* Opening a new task viewer didn't work.
* Closing effort viewers causes exceptions.

tasks, i.e. tasks in tasks. Task Coach is open source (GPL) and is

This is a preliminary release for testing purposes. It features
synchronization of tasks and notes with a Funambol server, so
indirectly with any application supporting SyncML, either natively or

<title>Distinguishing between billed and unbilled tasks</title>
    <link>http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.pim.taskcoach/216</link>
    <description>Hi,

I am trying to find a convenient and reliable way of grouping tasks (and
subtasks) within taskcoach according to the invoice to which they have
been added.

That is, I need to keep track of whether tasks have been completed (ie.
the code written, tested and put into production, etc.) and whether the
client has been billed for the work, and (most important) whether the
client has actually paid the invoice.

These 3 distinct states may be separated in time by as much as a few
months, so I don't always remember details about a given task/invoice
when a client gets around to paying it.

So far, I've resorted to creating invoice-subtasks for each invoice,
moving real subtasks under an appropriate billing subtask in the time
between completing the work and receiving payment. It's a somewhat
clunky and error prone approach.

How do you guys handle this? Is there some mechanism within taskcoach
which could be made to support this work flow?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    <description>Hi
I use subtasks a lot. When I have completed one, I would like to keep
it in the task folder, but not necessarily visible: when I have 8
completed subtasks among 10, it takes a lot of space and I cannot see
the 2 uncompleted subtasks. Would it be possible to have a "completed"
subtask "folder", where completed subtasks would automaticaly be
stored? It would only use one line, and would be readyly accessible if
needed.
Thanks
Pablo
