fuggoleges gorditosav feletti fekete vonallal ketteosztottam a

Hi,

I am working on testing the OpenOffice Writer GUI for a class project, and I
need to seed some faults in the source code (I built OO330_m20 successfully
on Ubuntu 10.04 running on VMWare), that could possibly generate some errors
related to the Writer GUI. I've been looking through the wiki pages and the
source files, but I'm having trouble figuring out which modules in the
source code I should be focusing on. Can anyone point me to which
files/folders in the source code I should be looking at?

Thanks,

[sw-dev] Game manual completed using openoffice

Hi Devs at OpenOffice,

I've recently completed this game manual using OpenOffice. No monies were
exchanged for me doing this work. I did it all for free.

I've worked professionally as a typesetter in the Advertisement and Printing
industries in Ireland and have one single issue that I think would make
Openoffice much better.

Vertical justification within columns. I mean: To vertically justify the
lines within the confines of the column box, so all the lines line-up on the
bottom lines; making it much better visually. The vertical justification
controller being put instead or with a line space, or multiple line spaces
within the column.

Otherwise, things went very well. My compliments to OpenOffice, and thanks.

Game Manual is not attached as its compressed it is still 12MB in size and
my previous post was returned by the daemon on the server. If you can direct
me to where I can send it, I will. It is available on the Paradox website,
in the Darkest Hour forum, Tech Support area.

Kind Regards, Peter Kenny

[sw-dev] full CSS & HTML5 support in "Save As"->"HTML" ?

Hi - this is my first post to this list, sorry if it is the wrong place,
but I gather my initial post to the "Writer Community Forum" < at >

was the wrong place - so here is the post :

Hi -

I want to be able to create and maintain HTML files which retain and maintain use of CSS from an original HTML document import .

So if I import a document like :

Code: Select all   Expand view
            <!DOCTYPE HTML>
            <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
            <head>
               <title>Test Import HTML Document</title>
               <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>
               <meta http-equiv="Content-Script-Type" content="text/javascript"/>
               <meta name="author" content="JVD"/>
                <style type="text/css">
                     < at >page { size:            216mm 279mm;
                       margin:    12mm;
           }
                     body   { margin:       8mm;
            width:        180mm;
            font-family:  "Gill Sans", "Gill Sans MT",  "Garrison Sans", "Bauhaus", "Arial", "Verdana", "Helvetica", sans-serif, sans;
            font-size:    10pt;
            font-style:   normal;
            font-weight:  normal; text-align: justify; text-decoration: none;
            background:   #FFFFFF;
            color:        #000000;
            text-align:   center;
          }
                    p        {  margin: +4mm;  text-align :  justify;  }
                </style>
              </head>
              <body>
                 <h3>Heading - left indent here should be 20mm and this should be centered </h3>
                  <p>This paragraph should be justified and its left indent should be 24mm.</p>
              </body>
              </html>

OOO-writer seems to import this OK cosmetically - but if I make any change, for instance
I modify style "Paragraph" so that "Gill Sans" is removed from the font face list , or increase
the "Paragraph" style indent, then OOO-writer comments out my '<style><!-- --></style>'
section and encloses every paragraph text in a '<FONT ...>...</FONT>' tag , so I loose
my original style sheet settings and render the document horrible to edit in a text editor .

Is an OOO-writer HTML5+ compatible plugin that retains and is able to write CSS style sheets
to reflect OOO "Style" item changes feasible or on the cards ?
If not, I intend to develop one.

Thanks in advance for any responses, & Regards,
Jason

The ability of OOo to usefully edit HTML is pretty poor IMHO. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I use a dedicated tool such as KompoZer.

Thanks for your response ! I will check out KompoZer .

But I prefer writing HTML generators myself with CGI programs / PERL + mod_perl + HTML::Mason for web development .

For non-web development documents , eg. for my CV, I have my own "simplified markup language" (like "intelligent troff") parsed by my own PERL script
that can emit DocBook XML + XSL , or HTML / XHTML + CSS .

It is really, really great the way OOO can load one of the HTML files produced by xsltproc from the DocBook source or my own HTML + CSS , and export
the document to PDF or MS-Word so that cosmetically it looks exactly like the printed document .

But if a document is loaded from an HTML file , and saved in HTML format, then I think OOO should have more respect for the CSS that it evidently is able
to parse successfully , rather than simply commenting it out .

I'd be interested in re-writing the OOO HTML 'Save As' plugin to do this - also as a way of refreshing my Java skills - and also upgrade it to support HTML5 -
unless people think this would be a waste of time / is already being done ?

We're not the developers, just users trying to help other users. The developers don't hang out here.
Ubuntu 11.04 Natty, LibO 3.3.2 (330m B:202)

So do the developers hang out here ?

I'd be most grateful for their ideas on the above .

I have compiled OpenOffice before using gcc / g++ + Sun J2EE / gcj / OpenJDK , and would like to
understand how big a job the above might be . If it is already parsing the CSS, as it seems to be,
I can't imagine why this would be such a huge job .

Thanks in advance for any responses,

I find that there are 2 similar method in SwFrm to create the layout tree in sw,
they are SwFrm::InsertBefore and SwFrm::InsertBehind.

I wonder the difference between these 2 methods and when to use anyone of them.
And I find there is a while loop in method SwFrm::InsertBefore but there isn't in the other.

Could anybody help me regarding this question ? Thank you very much.

When the user clicks the field, it is selected. So, if the user types any text, the field disappears. This is more or less what is desired, although the interface is not perfect.
But in OpenOffice the result is confusing for the user. In the imported document, there is a field with a macro called "DoFieldClick". When the user double clicks the field, a dialog appears allowing to edit the field properties. The user does not know what to do.
The ideal interface would be for us the same used in Impress templates, like the one that I am attaching. When the user clicks in the text, the text disappears, and the user types the replacement. If the user does not type anything and moves the cursor to another place, the placeholder appears again.
What is the preferred approach that we should develop?

Small issue importing Word document

Hello, while testing Openoffice we found a small issue trying corporate templates. This is a document that uses a font Myriad Pro Light. When imported under Openoffice, the font looks very ugly. However, if one changes the font to Myriad Pro, variant Light (menu Format->Character, select font Myriad Pro, Typeface Light) then it looks fine.

What should be done, change the importing code so that the font Myriad Pro Light is turned into Myriad Pro, typeface Light, or making the word processor display correctly the font called "Myriad Pro Light"?

Thank you

increased line spacing when applying bullets - why?

Hi *,

When bulleting is applied to paragraphs, the line spacing increases.

This is also the case, when I give more line space, proportional, with
different or larger for, with other style (heading for example).
Only when setting line spacing to fixed it does - of course - not change.

The properties in the bullets (list style), lead me to the character
style 'Numbering Symbols'.
However, when, for example the paragraph style is 20 pts, and the
'Numbering Symbols' is 12 pts, one would expect that there is room
enough for the bullets. No. Only when I set the 'Numbering Symbols' to
10 pts, the line spacing stays unchanged.

Design? Bug?
Thanks,
Cor

Hello
I've been using open office for a long time now, but there is one thing I'd
like to see changed or perhaps an option could be created for it. When
typing, I use the ctrl+left arrow and ctrl+right arrow a lot to navigate.
However when using ctrl+right arrow the cursor jumps to the beginning of
the next word instead of the end the current one. This is highly annoying
since when I use ctrl+right arrow at the end of a sentence and the rest of
the line is empty, it jumps down to the beginning of the next word, even if
that is on an other line.
Most of the time I'm typing with text under the line I'm currently typing
at. When I want to navigate the cursor to the end of the line it jumps down
to the beginning of the next line. I think that it is so annoying since in
most other applications the cursor jumps to end of a word to the right and
to the beginning of a word to the left, so I'm very used to it.
Is there a work around anyway to change this?
Kind regards
Sander

Font substitution

Hi all,

Could you help me to understand what is the fallback when a font type is used in
a document that doesn't exist on the Windows profile on which the document is
edited.
I understand that the font and it's family is described in the content.xml and
styles.xml under the form of :
<style:font-face style:name="MyFont" svg:font-family="'MyFont'"
style:font-family-generic="swiss" style:font-pitch="variable" />.

I thought that the substitution will be done using style:font-family-generic,
which in that case should be something like Arial, but it's not always the case.
On some Windows profiles it seems that the substitution is ok, on other Windows
profiles the document is unreadable, so I'm not able to reproduce what does not
work.
I speak about Windows profiles, because on the same work station, the result
depends of the profile loaded.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Sophie

Typing Cyrillic in exported PDF form fails

I received a complaint from one of our community members that it is not
possible to type Cyrillic in the PDF form exported from OpenOffice.org.

PDF readers like Evince ignores everything that is not ASCII, and others
like FoxIt or Adobe Acrobat Reader display garbage for Cyrillic entry
while allows Serbian Latin (č ć š...).

This is a major bug as PDF forms can not be saved or printed correctly.

Typing Cyrillic inside OpenOffice.org works as expected so it looks like
the bug is in the PDF export code not setting some encoding property.

What component should I fill a bug against and is this issue already
reported in the past?

I reproduced it using both 3.2.0 and 3.0 stable releases, with Serbian
Cyrillic localization. Are other locales affected as well?

Hi all,

I'm facing some troubles with the drawing of the borders of Writer
tables. In all the other cases of tables and intersections of 4 border,
the borders are centered, but not in Writer: the horizontal lines are
top-aligned.

This causes me some troubles to draw the nice intersections like the
ones in impress tables or Calc. Is there any reason for that? What are
the related problems? I know that Word is drawing it's table borders in
the same way... but that's no reason to mimic the same horrible
behaviour ;)

Best regards,
