Rather than as separate image files, my music collection has the album art inserted into the cover tag of each music file. Has anyone modded Gnump3d to stream such cover art?

If so, would you mind sharing your code changes?

Thanks.

Running gnump3d v3.0 on freebsd 8.3-RELEASE. gnump3d-index is revision

Hi! I'm glad this list is still active. I've been hosting a server with gnump3d for about 6 years now and was disappointed to see the software stop being developed in 2007. The software for V3 still works fine on Slackware when other computers go to my server's site to stream m3u playlists. However, when my iPod Touch 2G goes to stream an m3u playlist it cannot. I am, however, able to stream mp3s by changing the always_stream = 1 variable in gnump3d.conf to:

always_stream = 0

My iPod streams using a Quicktime plugin with Safari Browser.

So, can iPod Touches stream playlists with gnump3d?

Just to try, i seted up maximum_connectios = 1 to test, but more than
1 connection can access the server.

I am wrong about somethin i don't know?

Thanks.

Hello all,

I'm attempting to get Gnump3d working to where I can stream my music to
local machines, and then eventually to my work computer over the Internet.

Out of the box, it seemed to work brilliantly when I copied a few mp3's to
/var/music. But when I changed the root directory to /media/Share/Music, it
broke. The homepage at 127.0.0.1:8888 would just be a blank page - no
formatting or menus at all. If I tried 127.0.0.1:8888/playlist, I would get
the play list generation screen, showing all of the music. However, all the
links appeared to be broken. I did some googling, and found that others had
experienced similar issues relating to the media being on an NTFS or fat
partition, and the way that it is mounted in /etc/fstab. In my case though,
it's an ext4 partition on a local drive. I tried changing the owner of the
Music folder to gnump3d, and still no luck. I changed the owner of the
folder back to myself, and, as before, allow others read only access.

I made some progress by creating a symlink from /media/Share/Music to
/var/music/Music, and changing root back to root = /var/music. Now, when I
go to 127.0.0.1:8888, I get the properly formatted home page, but no music
is listed the way it was at first when I had copied a few files straight to
/var/music. I can navigate to the custom playlist page, and see all of the
music, but if I click on any of the albums, I'll get something like this (as
I did before the symlink):

The requested file /Music/311/Greatest%20Hits%20%2793-%2703/ couldn't be
found. Please try returning to the index <http://127.0.0.1:8888/>.
The debug gives this output:

I'm fairly sure this is a permissions issue, but as far as how to resolve
it, I'm stumped. Tried doing a "sudo chmod a+r /media/Share/Music", but
again no change. Any ideas? I've attached my current gnump3d.conf, though I
think I've changed everything back to default.

Thank you,

Questions about web browser audio streaming.

Hello, there, all gnuMP3d officinandos!

I have the following related questions to the linux, webserving version of your program.

-does gnuMP3d indeed offer streaming of live audio from a microphone
to, say, Windows media player via a tcp/ip network or the internet?
By live streaming, I do intend to ask about live sound, and not prerecorded files?

-May the gnuMP3d be used to stream sound via a webpage, being transmitted via

apache, tomcat or JBoss 5 application server? Via similar HTML code in the page:

<!-- ***************************************************************-->
<embed src='river.mp3' autoStart='true' loop='true' width='0' height='0' type='audio/mpeg'/>
<!-- ***************************************************************-->

-How can I set this up, where may I find a simple "getting up and running" tutorial for gnuMP3d?

-Is this a program independent of the apache/tomcat webservers?
Does a gnuMP3d plugin version exist that can be added as a module to apache/tomcat webservers?

-Could I be pointed in the right direction for [Tomcat/Apache/JBoss AS] plugins to acheive my first and second question aims?

And gives me the option to "End Now" or cancel. Is there some way to

I had the same type of problem when running gnump3d under cygwin. Maybe

btw, It seems www.gnump3d.org is gone. Mine just goes to a generic

If I access the server locally http://localname:8888, the page comes up

jumps to an error page:

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at *www.*localname*.com*.

I upgraded to 3.0, w/ same problem.
Multiple computers show this. If I'm really fast, I can click on an
album and the .m3u plays ok.

I did move to a different house, and had to reconfigure server addresses
and upgraded the browser versions so something might have gotten mucked
up there. But I never changed anything in gnump3d.

Hi,

The server functions, but can’t index & can’t display ‘currently serving’ etc.

When manually starting gnump3d-index I get this error :

freenas:/usr/local/bin# ./gnump3d-index

Use of uninitialized value $file in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1/gnump3d/config.pm line 140.

Use of uninitialized value $file in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1/gnump3d/config.pm line 140.

Can't read configuration in : No such file or directory

When specifying the path of the config file I get this error :

freenas:/usr/local/bin# ./gnump3d-index --config fileName /usr/local/etc/gnump3d/gnump3d.conf

The configuration file which I've tried to read doesn't exist:

'fileName'

Aborting.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks!

-Dirk

i have installed gnump3 without problems, run it, play it and so... the only
thing i'm having problems with is this : if i go to preferences and select
any changes for theme of whatever it does not stay like a permanent change,
if after the selection, i follow one link, the configuration turns
'default'!
