Bonjour,

I try create a dvd from an mpeg file wich has two languages tracks and

I would like to be able to choose the language and the subtitles from a
menu on my dvd player.

Is there a tutorial for this giving practical examples of this?

Thank you.

Yet, if I change the "exit(1)" to a "return" in this previous getVobs(),
I'm able to read all vobs of the DVD correctly.?
May be getVobs() is not enough tolerant for some errors ?

if I specify conditional cell command such as "if (g0 == 1) jump title 1;", I get error

But some other software (e.g. DVDReMake) supports cell conditional commands.
And I also didn't find this restriction at

Is it possibly a bug in dvdauthor?

I was using dvdauthor in the past and never remember having much of a problem. I used this for simple dvd:

mkdir DVD && export VIDEO_FORMAT=NTSC && dvdauthor -o DVD --title -f input.vob && dvdauthor -o DVD -T

But I notice recently it seems to not autoplay (or play at all) in many players and I'm not sure what went wrong? Unless this started happening with the release of Mountain Lion (I'm using Mac) I'm not sure also? Can someone tell me if anything looks wrong with my command line? The structure created and everything appears to be just fine and no errors are generated, but still having this autoplay issue. Thanks!

menu navigation does nothing

Hello all,

my project to write a script that automatically creates the necessary
contents and XML to author a DVD is almost done. Goal is with
one or two command lines from any source(s) to create a DVD with menus.

The spumux processes do not output any error messages any more.

Dvdauthor complains about the muxing state of the MPEG2 video stream for
some reason. I mux using mplex.

But the reason why I write to the list is that I get a DVD data structure
that does show menus, but does not react on any navigation commands. It
does neither highlight the selected button nor execute the action assigned
to it.

Obviously I still have problems understanding the logic behind the
navigation commands. I do not see a point where to find the reason for
this misbehaviour.

I have uploaded a ZIP archive with the sources (without the actual movie
for obvious reasons) here: http://dump.fangornsrealm.eu/example.zip

It includes all the XML files, the background pictures and an error log
with all the errors that spumux and dvdauthor threw.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks, in advance,
Alexander

Hi,

I have another problem.

Following a suggestion I have specified the button geometries in XML for spumux.

Now spumux fails.

INFO: Subtitle inserted at: 0.133467 sd=0

I don't know if something is wrong with my input or if this is a bug in spumux.

I have uploaded my input files:

my spumux version is compiled on gentoo amd64.

I have a problem understanding what dvdauthor is trying to tell me.

I try to mux from XML and get the messages:

I don't understand. vts_1_audio.mpg has 8 buttons. And they are muxed as 8 buttons.

Hello,

I am quite new to XML for dvdauthor. I have the attached XML file and I get the error mesage

ERR: Parse error 'syntax error, unexpected ERROR_TOK, expecting SEMICOLON_TOK' on token '"'

To my eye all the double quotes are balanced. What is dvdauthor trying to tell me?

Is there a way to get debug output (where dvdauthor stops parsing correctly)?

Or can somebody tell me where the problem of this XML file is?

Thanks in advance,

Alexander Schwarzkopf

Hello guys,

I am trying to use dvdauthor for my own batch dvd creation.
using this very basic script:

<dvdauthor>
  <vmgm />
  <titleset>
  <titles>
  <pgc>
  <vob file="output.mpg"/>
  </pgc>
  </titles>
  </titleset>
  </dvdauthor>

I get a DVD which pauses on the last frame, instead of stopping.
(software and hardware players)
is there something i am doing wrong?

thank you

regards

Felix

spumux button row spacing and play-once-onlyintro video

Hi,

I have prepared my first DVD with dvdauthor and everything works, however
it needs a little finesse.

On the resulting menu from spumux the 'select' areas are spaced farther
apart than I have them placed in the png. So menu position 1 at the top,
the 'select' image is much farther away from the underlying image, spacing
gradually decreases with each menu item down the list, then begins to
increase in the other direction. I have a feeling this might have to do
with 'outlinewidth'... but perhaps I'd be better off explicitly defining
the menu button positions instead of using 'auto' ?

<subpictures format="NTSC">
<stream>
<spu force="yes" start="00:00:00.00" transparent="Black"
image="msarkdvd01-blank.png" select="msarkdvd01-reg.png"
highlight="msarkdvd01-hi.png" autooutline="infer" autoorder="rows"
outlinewidth="18">
</spu>
</stream>
</subpictures>

Also, I would like to play the intro video the first time the disc is
inserted, but then skip the intro video when the user returns the to main
menu. I think I remember seeing an example like this in the manual but I
can't seem to find it at the moment.

Feature Request: Auto-execute option in SPUMUX

I'm currently using DVDStyler and one feature lacking is a true
auto-execute button (execute upon select, typically for hidden buttons)
that I typically use for scrolling multi-page chapter menus and it
appears SPUMUX would need to support this for DVDStyler to use it. I've
tried some suggested alternative methods within DVDStyler, but they
require timing out the menu on a regular basis that momentarily lock out
the user as the display refreshes. I found PGC Edit that gets me what I
want, but I do have to generate the DVD files on hard disk, go into PGC
Edit to set the auto-execute buttons and then burn to DVD. Obviously it
would be nicer if I could do this directly in SPUMUX via DVDStyler.

For reference, see the Auto-Action flag in BTN_IT Button Information
Table at

A DVD that only runs on some players

I have question about DVD limits.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Inside_DVD-Video/Limits

I have a set of 3 webcams monitoring motion events outside the house. I
use a perl script and DVDStyler to produce a DVD with 4 months of daily
motion movies. the structure is:

VGM:
    Select Month in Year

Titleset 1: (first month)
    Select Day on Month menu: 28-31 day buttons + 1 Back (to VGM) button
    28-31 Titles
        Each Title consists of 3 VOB references pointing to the a
camera's daily movie.

Titleset(s) 2-4: (same as Titleset 1)

The problem is that the DVD is produced, but only works on some players.
I have a older Philips DVD player that works fine. My newer Sony Blu-Ray
player basically "hangs" on it and I have to power cycle it to get it to
spit out the DVD. Every PC-based player I have tried also works fine. A
friend with a newer DVD player has problems.

Using the DVD limits reference, I believe I am just under the
menu-button limit of 36 for narrow screen. All the the movies and menus
are 4:3. The other concern is 99 titles in a titleset, but even if a
VOB is counted as a title, I never have more than 93.

So have I exceeded some limit I am unaware of, or is the Sony player
deficient? Or is the "but only 12 [buttons per menu] at once for
widescreen" biting me with the newer player as they are always widescreen?

Here are some xml snippets:

Stumbled across another new feature on SourceForge, namely download
statistics. That for DVDAuthor since about the 0.6.14 release are here

and show a large, and continuing, long-term decline, with hardly any
pause when I brought out 0.7.0 in October 2010.

Does this mean people are using DVDAuthor less and less? I suspect so.

Announcing DVDAuthor 0.7.1

It’s getting on to two years since the major 0.7.0 release of
DVDAuthor. The number-one trouble report from users in that time has
been with how to specify the video format (NTSC or PAL).

To recap, prior to 0.7.0, the main dvdauthor tool defaulted to NTSC
unless you specified the format was PAL, while spumux (the subtitle
generator) had defaults more appropriate to PAL. I unified this in
0.7.0 by allowing you to specify the default format for all tools in
the suite in the following ways (in order of increasing precedence):
  * at build time (--enable-default-video-format=ntsc|pal)
  * in a systemwide config file (/etc/video_format)
  * in a per-user config file (~/.config/video_format)
  * in an environment variable (VIDEO_FORMAT)
  * in the XML control file.

And to avoid taking sides, if you didn’t specify a format at any of
those first four places, then there was no default, and you had to
explicitly say what the format was in the XML control file.

Unfortunately, there was a limitation in the valid XML syntax in 0.7.0,
in that it could not actually specify the format for every possible
place, and so if there was no default you got the dreaded “ERR: no
video format specified for VMGM/VTSM” message.

This oversight is fixed in 0.7.1. Right at the start of the XML file,
you can now say “<dvdauthor format="ntsc|pal">” and set the format for
the entire disc, with no need to keep repeating the format spec further
down.

As usual, links to downloads, GitHub repo etc are at
