Mandatory Kinect usage is also a little disturbing. The camera is
listening out for you even when it's "off" (it's never really off), and
while Microsoft has issued a statement saying it has "strong privacy
protections" in place, people are still rightly concerned that a machine
-connected to the internet and featuring a camera which is always
listening - might be a problem.

Regrettably, it looks like clueless, out-of-touch Microsoft has another
FAIL! on its hands.

<title>Are Current Web Design Trends Pushing Us Back to 1999?</title>

It’s been understood for years now that putting a odometer-style hit
counter on a web page is (to put it bluntly) pretty lame. No
self-respecting web developer today would even consider doing such a
thing, even if a client demanded it. I can tell you right now if any
client told me to put one of those on their site, I’d kindly refuse even
if it meant losing the client. Some things are just not worth the money.

Today, we see a similar trend: a website’s total number of Twitter
followers and/or RSS subscribers proudly displayed in a sidebar or
website header for all to see.

The Twitter buttons below are from Twitter Counter and are just one of
many customizable examples of Twitter count widgets out in the wild.
\" /]

This article hits on several similarities, I especially hate sites that
entice me with their link title to view, only to find out it that it
requires Chrome to view.

LAME-O!

to browse the Web and interact with your computer just by moving your
hands and fingers in the air. With Leap Motion technology and Windows,
you can do everything that's possible with multitouch inputs -- without
actually touching anything. This also means that existing applications

While innovative, highly responsive and packed with ample amounts of
"Wow!" I don't seeing this becoming the new "mouse". One thing I
noticed, though, is that it seems to excel what is available via
Microsoft's kinect system, at least in terms of motion fluidity.

Tried removing Firefox and setting with Revo Uninstaller, installing and
choosing an old backup from MozBackup with no luck, same thing.
Saving to different folders wont work either.

It might have something to do with Firefox renaming the *.exe.part to
*.exe. Happens on other file types as well, *.zip, *.rar, .jpeg, .jpg,
.bmp... Not my antivirus being overzealous either, as it is on demand only.

Things are fine if I remember to use DownThemAll.

Anyone know if there is anything in the about:config or others setting I
can do to stop Firefox deleting them?

One new service announced today at Google’s annual developers’
conference in San Francisco will let developers build apps that
recognize whether a person is driving, walking, or cycling without
having a power-hungry GPS sensor reporting data in the background.
Rather, the “activity recognition” service would let them tap into the
device’s accelerometer and run Google algorithms that can learn over
time whether a person is stuck in traffic or just out for an evening stroll.

When I went to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:Preferences I
discovered that the third column of data is superimposed on a
navigation menu. I followed links through the
http://kb.mozillazine.org site without finding a suitable place
to report the problem.

As this is a common problem on many website my subject line
suggests the problem may be pervasive.

I wish to accomplish two things, perhaps requiring two separate
bug reports:
   1. Fix the problem on
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:Preferences
   2. Add a specific recommended practice that when creating a
web page representing the Mozilla project that page be viewed
with forcing a large font.

I see backgrounds, zebra stripes, richer colors, darker fonts,
gradients, and more that I never saw before.

Don't know why my systems default was so bright.

Other applications also look better.

YMMV

    <title>can't export bookmarks anymore</title>
    <link>http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.mozilla.general/95911</link>
<description>&lt;pre&gt;Greetings. Since upgrading FF to version 20.0.1 a few weeks ago I've been unable to export my bookmarks to an html file as I've always done. I checked the relevant help page and saw that nothing about the procedure has changed. But when I open the library, click on Import &amp;amp; Backup, and select Export bookmarks to HTML, it doesn't work. Instead of asking me if I want to replace the current bookmarks.html as it always did (the save process took about 15-20 seconds), it just instantly saves a little file it labels bookmarks1.html, and that file is almost empty. It saves a tiny number of my bookmarks and cuts off. Whereas the bookmarks export file was around 49 mb, the bookmarks1.html is only a few hundred kb.

Does anyone have any idea what to do about this? It's very important to me to be able to export my bookmarks. Thanks.
