Hi, I started trying Tellico out. I imported 5 books from the internet (Google Books). When creating a report, I get to error messages of the following kind:

Die Datei kann nicht gespeichert werden ? books?id=-UAHAaYHEFkC&printsec=frontcover&img=1&zoom=1&edge=curl&source=gbs_api.

If you like to check this out I can also send you the .tc database - just tell me how.

Dear Tellico users,

I am new to Tellico; in fact I have not yet started using it.
Before diving in deeper, I would like to know a few things about
Tellico's multi-user capacity (or lack thereof).

I am searching for a solution for managing my book collection.
However, the collection is not entirely "personal"; it belongs to my
family and friends, too.

Therefore, there are more that one users who would need to use this
software.

What are Tellico's multi-user capacities?

Can it store who edited which record?
Can it store who has and who has not read a given book?
Can it store the notes of different users about the same book?

Thank you for your help:

Hello!

I am trying to use Tellico to organize my library of about 2000 books.
One of the crucial features was the ability to scan a bar-code using the
web-cam of my HP635 notebook.
The webcam is usable as /dev/video0 in VLC and in Skype, but the
check-box in the configuration settings of Tellico is not accessible and
always grayed out.
The scanning-feature of Tellico is not even mentioned in the help-files
so I don't even know where to look.

Any help is very appreciated.

I am using Tellico 2.3.3 and 64bit Ubuntu (Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic
3.0.4). The webcam is reported as HP-101.

Thank you for your support!

The date of the API version in the installed amazon2tellico.xsl file was
2009-11-01. I replaced the installed amazon2tellico.xsl with the file
from version 2.3.5 (API version 2011-08-01). Now the lookups are working

Hello,

It appears for the past week or so, the updates against Amazon, CA, FR and
US are no longer working. I went to the school today and took a quick
peak, it would appear Amazon might have change the destination of their web
services or set up several re-directs?

PING webservices.amazon.fr (178.236.4.44) 56(84) bytes of data. << So
responds ok

Doing a CURL however indicates a re-direction from webservices.amazon.fr is
taking place re-directing to amazonaws.com which interestingly enough did
not appear to resolve in DNS from the school's system

Now from my home machine amazonaws.com re-directs to aws.amazon.com

fabc< at >fabc-library:~$ curl webservices.amazon.fr

302 Found

Found

The document has moved here.

Could these re-directs affect the updates? Anyone experiencing the same
problem? We are using Tellico v2.3 on Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance!

Debugging the Amazon problem

Hi everyone,

I could use some help from anyone who is having a problem searching
Amazon and is comfortable recompiling Tellico on their own. My poor
man's method of debugging some of the data sources is to have the reply
written out to a tmp file. I can then look at that file and work on the
XSL needed for Tellico to import the data. When I release a version of
Tellico, I turn that off.

So if you want to help me out, line 434 of src/fetch/amazonfetcher.cpp
has "#if 0". Change that to "#if 1" and then recompile and run Tellico.
Do an Amazon search, and Tellico will write a file in /tmp called
test1.xml. Send me that file. I'm assuming you have a /tmp directory, of
course.

I can take a look at the file and see what error message is in it, or
what might be happening to cause a search failure.

Once you're done debugging, you should probably change the line back so
you don't get tmp files written for all your Amazon searches.

Thanks,
Robby

API on 21/2/2012. See

https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/advertising/api/detail/main.html

for details.

I recall that around September 2009 Amazon introduce the need for
individuals to sign up for their Product Advertising API in order to
perform lookups such as those done by Tellico. I duly signed up back
then and updated to Tellico 2.0 for the functionality.

The Amazon announcement mentioned above states:

"The new Product Advertising API interface definition (WSDL) is now
available. While your application may continue to operate after November
1, 2011 using older WSDLs, we will stop supporting all previous versions
on February 21, 2012. Please upgrade to the latest WSDL before that date
to ensure the continued operation of your application."

I successfully added a book in Tellico via an Amazon UK search on
15/2/2012 but when I next tried on 26/2/2012 and any time there after I
have no success.

I tried updating to Tellico 2.3.5 (built from source (+ patch from
http://tellico-project.org/tellico-235-released) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS)
just in case some functionality changes were needed and had already been
introduced to versions of Tellico released after 1/11/2011 but I'm still
seeing the same problem.

When I try an ISBN search tellico just response with "the search
returned no items". If I try a person search (say Stephen King) then I
briefly see it say "results from amazon test 0/4356" before again saying
"the search returned no items". So I think Tellico is performing an
Amazon search but perhaps due to the API change it is not getting back
results in the form it expects.

In the past few weeks, lookups to Amazon Japan for ISBN matches have stopped working for me. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 and using Tellico 2.3.3.

Is this a known issue?
