I don't really understand why you chose to make this app in 3d (aside
from complicating life) when the three-dimnsionality of it is, for all
practical purposes, useless. There is a 2D variant for iOS and Android
(sold by Reactable) and Psychosynth could've been the more advanced
version for desktop but hell, aside from a couple of youtube demos I
found more complains then kudos while searching the net for a
installation recipe.

<pre>
I've been installing PsychoSynth on my Ubuntu 11.04 desktop. I've followed the steps listed under "Easy setup" in your webpage: (http://www.psychosynth.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Repository) and I have succeded installing the program. The problem comes when I try to fix the 30 seconds delay, I type "psynth3d -o alsa --alsa-device hw:0,0" and I get this message in the terminal:
[psynth.base.xml] ERROR: Could not openconfig file for reading: /home/ferran/.psychosynth/psychosynth.xml.
The application might create it later.

After this, the delay still persists. I have also tried to use the jack output but I can see no positive results. I really want to know whether there is a way to solve the delay because it is really annoying and I this programme seems very interesting.
Thank you very much, I hope I can get some help :)

how do you install and run Psychosynth on Lucid Ubtuntu.

I have followed all your web instructions and nothing works. 10.04

This is a fresh Lucid Ubuntu with no other software on it.

Please can you check and see if YOU are able to install psychosynth and
also get it running.

When you succeed, please can you email me with the exact correct install
instructions or post them on the web page of psychosynth.

thanks

Master’s thesis and new release!

<pre>{ From: http://planet.gnu.org/psychosynth/?p=23 }

As previous posts announce, latest developments were driven by my
Master's Thesis held in the University of Granada. Last week I defended
it and now I am, officially, a software engineer The document is
written in English; it is the best description available of all the new
core refactoring and an interesting read if you want to contribute to
the project.

Download Master's thesis:
http://psychosynth.com/misc/pfc.pdf

Also, a new release was made including lastest advancements in the core
library and some small user level improvements and fixes. You can
download it here.

Changelog for Psychosynth 0.2.1
-------------------------------

* Now real-time priority is properly acquired for the audio
thread in POSIX systems whenever possible.
* New modular synthesis engine included in the framework -- not
yet used by the UI, providing:
 - Hierarchical patches. One can have a full patch inside one
node that may be later store and or loaded from the hard drive.
 - Any kind of signal can be processed now.
 - Multiple output and input ports can coexist.
 - Plug-in system is much easier to implement on top of the new
system.
* New code uses some new C++0x features implemented in new
compilers only. With this release, GNU Psychosynth requires GCC
4.6 to compile.

OK Thanks goes out to Aleksander for fixing the ppa for ubuntu so that the program installs properly now.
I'm running into the sound delay problem and have tried running the command listed on the site...

psynth3d -o alsa --alsa-device hw:0,0

I'm still getting the delay though.
running aplay -l in Terminal shows that card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC1200 Analog [ALC1200 Analog]
 Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 is the device being used which is normal, but the delay persists.

This program is still fun despite the delay so I'll keep tinkering.

Thanks Again,

<pre>Hello mates!

“If only I a got a cent for every time I’m told to implement a MacOSX
port...”

Wait a second. Thanks to Flattr (http://www.flattr.com) I actually can
get a cent every time I’m told to port Psychosynth to MacOSX and,
eventually, get convinced to do so. Or maybe, somebody else might think:
“Hey! I want to implement that MacOSX port and get all those collected
cents.” Allright, just send a patch, and the money is yours

This is the basic idea of the new Collaborative Roadmap. Every user can
vote for a feature by donating some cents to the software. Any developer
can go ahead and code that feature and get that money. All this is done
thanks to Flattr, a new social micro-payment system specially useful to
contribute volunteered libre works.

More information in this blogpost:
http://planet.gnu.org/psychosynth/?p=20

The Collaborative Roadmap can be accessed here:
http://www.psychosynth.com/index.php/Collaborative_Roadmap

I hope you like the idea. Every feedback is very wellcome!

i added the lunchpad's repo but when i try to install psychosynth-gui

impossible to find psychosynth-gui

so i tried to compile it from the sources, i installed all the
requested dependencies, downloaded the source from savannah but when i
./configure appears:

error: Could not link against boost_thread-mgw-s

what can i do?

<pre>Hi all,

If you happen to see that there is a huge delay between adding the item
in the psychosynth table and hearing the actual sound created by the
item, it's probably because you're using the ALSA backend and it doesn't
work properly.

Just go to "Configure the program settings" --&gt; "Audio" --&gt; "Output" and
configure "OSS" instead of "ALSA". Then restart the application.

Cheers,

psychosynth-gui:
Depende: libceguiogrerenderer but it is not installable
Depende: libogremain but it is not installable

psychosynth-gui:
Depende: libpsynth0 pero no va a ser instalado
Depende: libboost-filesystem1.35.0 (&gt;=1.35.0-1) but it is not installable
Depende: libboost-system1.35.0 (&gt;=1.35.0-1) but it is not installable
Depende: libboost-thread1.35.0 (&gt;=1.35.0-1) but it is not installable
Depende: libceguiogre16 but it is not installable
Depende: libogre16 but it is not installable
Depende: libois1 (&gt;=1.2.0~ppa3) but it is not installable

Lo raro es que algunas de estas librerías ya las tengo instaladas... Será
una cuestión de versiones??

Desde ya muchas gracias!!
