This node represents an amenity that ceased to exist at least 15 years

property.

Do I simply delete the old node? Or should it be tagged as historical and

- the second (individual) part will be in the resp. languges of our partner.

We produced the first part.
As I wrote it, it is in "DEnglish" :-( ;-)

Question:
Is here on the list sombody how could help us to transfer the wiki into

Thanks in advance

<pre>Hello all,

In the process of remapping work by "blars," I've come
across a way to draw land use that is new to me. He draws the
land-use areas out to the middle of the streets. For example, if he
is specifying a city block as "residential," he draws the outline
down the middle of the surrounding streets, and all the points in the
outline intersect with the points that create the street.
Is this the way land sue should be done?

<pre>Hi,

is there a good, complete guide describing how to set up a map server (using Geoserver) with OSM data.

What i'm looking for is:

- How to take OSM data into a local DataBase (I have already done this with .osm files into a PostGIS DB)
- How to create the appropiate layers in Geoserver (Already achieve this, but dont know if in the best way)

- Finally, and were i'm stuck, good styles for Geoserver (ones like used by OSM but for Geoserver instead of Mapnik)

I have found styles for Geoserver but they give problems when validating the xml (people also noticed that in the post comments). So if anyone knows of good-looking working styles for Geoserver they will be appreciated.

--If a way is marked red, do I have to delete it and redraw

--If a way is marked with orange, is it enough just to
change it to a different type of road (such as primary), then save
it, then change it back and save it again? Or do I have to do
something more elaborate?
         --Ditto for points

Or maybe it is better to use JOSM, and save my edits locally until I am finished with an area? The example I'm currently looking at is in CLEANMAP

Once you've zoomed in enough the drop-down menu in the top left can be used

Potlatch always works for me, but clicking on the josm link does not. What
do I need to do so that josm opens?

I am using Firefox, and josm-tested.jar

aerial imagery vs OSM data - which is correct?

<pre>Hello

Sometimes aerial imagery is not aligned with existing OSM data. Is it
possible to *know* which of the two is right?

I was going by the assumption that OSM data always trump aerial
imagery, but after finding an instance where this was not the case
(because the OSM data had been previously traced on a misaligned
aerial image) I'm not sure what to do.

If I was lucky enough to have been through that area AND had the GPS
on, then it's fine - I have a trace I can trust and I'll align
accordingly. But when one hasn't got a personal trace, what can be
done?

Thanks

Alex

Is it a good idea to use the default images from OSMtile servers.

<pre>Hello Team,

I am a newbie to openstreetmaps, and integrating OpenStreetMaps in our
application for production use in transportation industry. *Can you please
help me confirm if it is a good idea to use the default tile images from
OSM tile servers or should we create our own tile images?*
If creating own tile images is the best option, how difficult is it and
what should be done to achieve the same?

Please give me a link to the "Thread" if this question is already answered.

Thank you for answering Richard and Graham. You both said that I should post my questions somewhere else where anybody could read them and make suggestions, what do you mean? I thought this "newbies" mailing list would be OK...
For my final project I was thinking of something from scratch, something specific that I could do alone by myself (with some help of course), and with relatively no time limit. I think that they would consider allowing me to work on an existing project too, but I'd rather go with the first option. I have no experience in OSM, but I have time and I look forward to digging into it. I do have experience in programming with C, C++ and Java, and I would like to work on a project related to the telematic area of OSM if possible...
