    <description>
Evening everybody! I'm happy to announce that our new mailing lists
are ready for usage, so we plan to complete our transition to them in a
week's time. This one will be closed to new posts ASAP (meaning, when I
get to it later on today ;-) and an auto-reply will be sent instructing
you to join the new ones on MacOSForge if you do happen to post to it
by mistake. Therefore all current and new threads will be
continued/held there. For more information on our new mailing lists,
check my post explaining them:

http://opendarwin.org/pipermail/darwinports/2006-September/035470.html

Next week I'll consider this list completely closed and ready for
removal from the map, so be quick to join us on MacOSForge if you're
interested in keeping up with discussion.

Regards,...

<description>I never ended up checking in my changes for this, and I think this makes
sense. I'll make a py-django-devel, which will be version 0.95, not a
subversion checkout. This will suggest that this port is unstable, and
could potentially break things when updated. When 1.0 comes out, I'll
make a py-django. Thanks again.

Subversion's use of the DeltaV protcol should minimize data
transmission via its binary differential algorithm.

Unless the dmg includes an outdated (or insecure) subversion binary.

Might there be something else that could access the server using the
WebDAV protocol? I just tested sucking my own subversion repository
using wget. Apple doesn't include wget with Mac OS X anymore, but
there are wrapper scripts for curl that could do the same thing.
Perhaps one could fetch the updates for the subversion port and its
dependencies before compiling it? That approach could ensure an
updated subversion port without requiring a complete fetch of the
ports tree. Another consideration is the fact that any subversion
checkout requires double the space--one for a working copy and one
for a pristine copy of the original.

WebDAV access with DeltaV support might be an alternative to
installing the full subversion package.

Port Authority 1.1, the GUI for MacPorts, is now available. This
version updates the application to reflect the transition to the
MacPorts name, interface enhancements, an improved user help system
that is now searchable and easily browsed, and bug fixes.

With this release, I am moving away from the hybrid freeware/payware
approach that I used with version 1.0. The free X11 version will no
longer be developed. I have changed the license from GPL to a standard
shareware license. A free updater is available for paid users of the
1.0-Aqua version, and a 30-day demo is available for others who wish to
try the Aqua version.

For more information, and to download, see
http://www.kevin-walzer.com/software/portauthority_aqua/.

Support questions should be directed to me off-list. Thank you.

I'm not familiar with those packages; it's been awhile since I've
used Fink.

Applications that use FontConfig should be able to use Mac OS X
fonts. See

/opt/local/etc/fonts/fonts.conf
/opt/local/etc/fonts/local.conf

In fact I thought the default versions of those files already set all
that up.

Which MacPorts application are you using that is not able to see Mac
OS X fonts?

Not a problem if you provide the Subversion port (and its

I've actually refrained from filing tickets for Django since I sort
of foresaw this problem. I'm still of the opinion that having a set
of versioned ports maintained, for the benefit of users not having to
go to an outside source when a port leave them behind is a worthy goal.

But then of course I don't have the perspective for assessing a

To align Django with the rest of the tree I'd keep -devel. Then let a
proper Django port wait for the 1.0 release when there is a firm
