To answer my own questions (hpcarm is supposed to be a Tier 1 port...):

Touch panel and power management are not supported; the rest of the
built-in devices I tried seem to be usable (USB modem, 802.11 cards,
built-in MMC card reader).

X is usable too (with a pointer-less window manager).

With touch panel support this would be a very useful machine to me (and
they sell for USD 80-100 on E-bay these days).

Okay, if I use a current kernel as of 2012-04-11 and copy BT3CPCC.bin to
/libdata/firmware/bt3c/ then the btuart driver attaches. With a current
kernel and 5.1.2 userland, 'btconfig btuart0 inquiry" works some of the
time but isn't really reliable. I may try with a current userland later.

I'm making BT3CPCC.bin available at http://www.bigjar.com/hpcarm

I tried the same thing a while ago, but got nowhere. Also a Jornada
720, and also a 3Com Bluetooth card. I think the problem I had was
something to do with loading firmware. Or maybe it did get past the
firmware stage, and something didn't work later on. I don't have the
Jornada or the card to hand at the moment, and this was quite a while
ago, so I can't remember. Sorry, this really isn't a very helpful
response!

<pre>Hello,

I'm trying to get a 3Com Bluetooth PC card working on a Jornada 720
(hpcarm) device. The serial chip on the card is recognized by NetBSD, but
the btuart driver doesn't attach. I can't tell whether there is an issue
specific to the hpcarm port, or if there's another issue. I've also tried
a 5.1.2 kernel on the hpcarm port and a 5.1.2 and 6.0_Beta kernel on a
Jornada 680 (hpcsh).

I'm attaching the dmesg below. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this
would be much appreciated.

I have a access to a couple of arm based Pocket PC devices. Is it
worth trying to boot

Presumably hpcboot can write to bootlog, but once the kernel boots is the output
restricted to the serial console?

I'm assuming there are no low level screen output routines similar to
OpenFirmwarewhich
could be called very early in autoconfig (any present would require
the WinCE emvironment running)?

For reference the devices I have access to are:

I have here a Jornada 568 in working condition (sans battery, though I see

Jornada 720 series, which we do support.

I guess the touch screen might be an issue?

hi folks.

we've just merged the SMP audio code to -current, and there are
several older audio drivers that have not been tested. we are
looking for testers for these drivers:

pxaacu(4)

which appears to be available on both GUMSTIX/LUBBOCK for evbarm
and also hpcmarm NETBOOKPRO.

all you need to do is build or install a recent -current snapshot
(the ones with this are probably not available, but should be
with in the next day or two.)

please report back to me or this list any success or failure.

thanks!

<pre>Hi, all,

Since m68k, VAX, mips, and StrongARM are slightly more modest CPUs than
PowerPC, i386, amd64, and other faster processors, I've been incrementally
uploading the results of a buld package build rather than wait for the
very end (which could be up to a year from now).

In ftp.NetBSD.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD, you'll find:

vax/5.1_2010Q3/ 262 packages
m68k/5.1_2010Q3/ 1398 packages
mipsel/5.1_2010Q3/ 1944 packages
arm/5.1_2010Q3/ 3425 packages

Note that in the interest of expediency some of these packages may be left
over from a previous tag, but all were built with 5.1 (5.1_RC3, 5.1, or
5.1_STABLE).

Please let me know of any issues, and enjoy!

Hi,
I am a newbie and would highly appreciate some help.
I have a compaq ipaq 3650 with a compaq wireless pcmcia card wl110
I would like to load linux on it.
I saw online that NetBSD is a good option, but the problem is it requires 2GB of CF card and I have only 32 MB CF card. Moreover I would like to run NetBSD from my pocketpc.
Secondly, I want to access Internet through my wireless card. I would like to know which version of linux (opie, or NetBSD or something else) has a driver for this card.
Any help would be highly appreciated,
Thanks,

In my opinion, you should call for some testing.

I've given my Jornada away, otherwise I would have loaded some binary
release on it to see how it works.

I mean, things like HP Jornada, Workpads z50, Nec Mobilepro, and
things like that...

Best wishes,

bump MAXPARTITIONS to 16

<pre>Hi,

I've committed changes to bump MAXPARTITIONS from 8 to 16 as mentioned
in PR port-hpcarm/18256. (so that we can use disks created on i386)

It uses __HAVE_OLD_DISKLABEL compat method as other ports
so there should be no compat issue, but if you see any problems
please report it here or via send-pr(1).
