If I don't get more work units in another week I will have to make the decision to keep Boinc going or shut it down. If I shut it down, the fact it will reduce the power bill for the servers is the only advantage I can see.

My OS2/ecS PC died last November (and I have not yet found the resources to
replace it). So I cannot check to see if my Boinc/Seti is also not receiving
new tasks.

How long has it been since you got new work? Perhaps there is a temporary
shortage of work units for v6.x (or v5.x) Seti clients. (I've seen this
before.)

What messages are written to the screen when an attempt is made to get new
work?

That's hard to say. Yuri Dario, if I remember correctly, ported the programs
we now use. But he has previously not responded to requests for updates.
Also, Paul Stanley was asked by several of us last year (or the year
before?) to update the port. But he is very busy and he has not commited to
this project.

I don't think this is possible. And even if it was, I don't think that our
older programs would know what to do with workunits designed for v7.x.

I agree.

It appears that they are now looking for v7 while all I have is v6.

Are we likely to get a v7 or is there a way to 'con' the server into sending units. It would be a shame to stop now after several years.

If you still have my utilities (specifically REXXRPC) then try:
REXXRPC --project setiathome.berkeley.edu nomorework

This worked for me before when I wanted to stop Boinc/Seti indefinitely.

What versions of Boinc and Seti are you using?

I have restarted running Boinc/Seti and I am not having a similar problem. If
your "UNKNOWN" problem does not get "fixed" on its own, then I will need some
debug information from you to determine what is happening to you.

As Salaam Aleikum!

I just downloaded the new version of JBSWU_MONITOR.CMD from Seti< at >home at
Yahoo, installed it and fired it up with the same START command (4os2
START btw) I have in startup.cmd, and lo and behold - the JBSWU_Monitor
window came up nice as you please with all the relevant information that
should be there. The only "fly in the ointment" I could discover was in
the credit lines which now look like this:

<Unknown> : 39336.45 15.61
BoincHost 6270800 : 11083.99 15.61

In the previous version before it started to bomb out the <unknown>
displayed as GAEA as my old host was called thusly, but this
'disappearance' of the GAEA host name is just a small cosmetic error
that I can live with. Perhaps it will appear again in some future
version of JBSWU_MONITOR, but that's for the Great Mother to decide :-)

Which operating system and which version of which browser were you using? What
URL did you use?

I am using eCS 2.1 and I have tried Firefox 4.01, 6.02, 8.01 and the latest
10.x version ("10.0.4 developer preview") and Seamonkey 2.5. In all of them,
after I enter my id and password and click on "Sign in", I get one of those
annoying "captcha" windows. After I enter the displayed code and click on
"Continue" the browsers seem to hang. After I dismiss (i.e. click on the close
"X" button) the captcha window, I do get the following error message (with the
Firefox 10.x browser):
Invalid ID or password.
Please try again using your full Yahoo! ID.

With the other browsers I get no message.

As I was writing this, I thought to try other, older browsers which I still
have. Amazingly Firefox 2.0.0.21 (PmW-Fx) works!! After logging in I was able
to upload JBSWU_MONITOR v 5.2.3 which contains what I hope is a fix
