TightVNC Dispatcher was announced rather long time ago. As far as I understood it’s a kind of proxy to connect client and server to each other.

Are you still working on it?

I'm using tightvnc to access my machines.

Using a browser, on port 5801 I used to get a usual login screen as you'd
get it when sitting in front of the machine.
As of this week the login won't come up any longer. The background image is
loaded and that's it. No login/password prompt.

I can still start sessions for specific users from the command line and
access them on other ports.

I already reinstalled tighvnc and double checked the ports being open in the
firewall.

Where else could I look for the cause of the problem?

I'm currently using KES8, and i'm facing the same trouble.

Firstly: you have anyway the need to add TightVNC as a''trusted
application''; by default, Kaspersky come with RealVNC and UltraVNC as
trusted application, and you have to add Tight by hand.

Anyway, i've found that even adding Tight as trusted application,
there's no interaction with AV interface using Win7 64bit, while the
policy still works for Win xp 32bit.

I've fired up a bug with Kaspersky, but if someone have finded a
workaround...

Thanks.

Thanks for your inputs. As I am using all virtual servers so don't have any option to manually tapping the keys of servers.

It works fine in Realvnc , so I guess there is something needs to be done by Tight VNC developers to fix the issue.

If you can access the On-Screen Keyboard on the host system from the remote system you can usually toggle the caps lock / num lock / alt / ctrl and other keys in order to get them to sync with the remote system.

This has worked well for me in the past.

"logically latched" by the host computer becomes "unlatched" and I can
then control the state remotely.

I don't know if there's any way VNC can override a stuck shift/state
key, as it's a problem with the OS where a key release is not detected
and the OS still thinks a key is held down.

I refer to this strange ritual (tapping shift/state keys) as the
"keyboard dance."

I don't have to do it often

I still get weird glitches now and then: the left mouse button acting as

He's now running Kaspersky antivirus -- I notice that I can't click on
any Kaspersky windows. The server is in service mode and UAC windows I
can interact with fine, but not Kaspersky. I presume this is a security
feature of Kaspersky (makes sense) but it's frustrating because the
reason I was VNC'ing to his computer was to help him set up antivirus
software. :-)

Anyway, thanks for all the help,

Hi Bob,

If you are able to connect to your host using a client machine at least from
inside the same local network, than it means you probably don’t need to
reinstall the tight VNC program.

There are mainly 2 possibilities for correcting your problem of not
connecting from the internet:

1) Your router must have a port forwarding configured to direct port
8900 to your server IP address. Maybe it has lost that configuration.

2) You firewall must be configured to let data from and in port 8900
flow through.

Good luck

Client Unable to Connect to Host

I've had no problems with the Tight VNC program until now. The last time I connected to the host (server), I clicked on a .JPG image an selected "view in Windows Explorer." I shut down the host machine properly, but now I can't connect to it anymore. The prompt tells me that either the host can't be found, or that it's taking too long.

The only way I see to repair this is to connect the old monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the host machine and reinstall the Tight VNC program, which is very inconvenient. Doe anyone know of any other cure? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tightvnc-2.7.1-setup-64bit.msi installed, I see a distorted remote screen
like the Picture below:

What did I do wrong ?

Thanks in advance.

Upgrade problems on Windows 8? Re: TightVNC remote desktop softwareversion 2.7.1 is released

So I did a test "upgrade" install of 2.7.1 (64 bit version) over a laptop running 2.6.4 (64bit version) on my Windows 8 64bit laptop.

I normally control Windows machines running TightVNC with my Mac using Apple Remote Desktop.

I just did a "typical" install -- I "did not change" the passwords for the administrator account when prompted -- and restarted the computer when the install finished.

After installation and reboot, when I connect to the Windows 8 machine from ARD, the Windows 8 background turns black (as expected), but I do not see the full screen in the ARD control window (I see two tiny windows in the upper corner (not sure I can send screen shots to the list, so I won't, but if somebody would like them, let me know and I'll will pass them on).

And I can't control anything (even with these two tiny screens…

So -- for me -- an in-place upgrade from a working 2.6.4 -- to 2.7.1 -- at least on my Windows 8 test machine (and I tried a desktop and got the same results) -- did not work.

So -- a
