Ok good, so we are ready for a 0.99 release.
If we release 0.99 sometime in the next few days, it could get added into
debian wheezy, since their freeze is really soon. We found a sponsor so
once the release is done, it should get reviewed and re-added.
As much as I'd like 0.99 out with p2pv2 and msnp18 enabled, I don't believe
it should get released until p2pv2 has been properly tested on the long
term, so I'm thinking of keeping 0.99 with msnp15, with maybe a checkbox in
the login screen to decide if the user wants to use "Experimental MSNP18
protocol support" (with a clickable '?' or whatever to tell people it
enables mpop and stuff).
We could later release 0.99.1 after long term testing of p2pv2 and
bugfixes, and remove the option and force everyone on p18.
The option could also be in the preferences instead... for those who are
old enough, remember we did the exact same thing with the jump from msnp6
to msnp9, with a checkbox in the login screen.

However, it really shouldn't be a big issue, because the port is only
opened for a couple of seconds at login and another couple of seconds
during a FT, not more. On the other hand, it's really not easy to
completely fix the bug, we don't know the expected address of the
other person and can't easily close the connection. The only thing
possible would be to block offending IP addresses after they send N
packets of "junk", but that's overkill IMHO and might reduce
performance otherwise.

I think we should answer to the tracker bug (and everyone else
involved) explaining why it's not a big issue.... and then close the
tracker already.

Hello,

some days ago I installed under Mint Linux 12 amsn. The only thing I
missed is the possibility to get my cam to work.
When I use for example skype or mplayer with the command " mplayer tv://
-tv driver=v4l2 device=/dev/video0" it works.

Also the lsub command show me that the cam is present:

It is good news indeed, but the feature set is very disappointing! The

Hey everybody!

I checked my schedule and I plan to come on sunday, 7th august for a day to
Desktop Summit in Berlin. I can come only for a day, because of my diploma
thesis, but one day is better than none. So I don't need an accomodation.
The travel would cost about 180 € if I book my train ticket in the next
days.
Who else (except you both Kkrt and Billiob) will be there on the 7th august?
I think Vivia told me she will be there on 6th august and perhaps on 7th
august. Anyone else? :)

I already planned my vacations and I didn't though about GUADEC & aKademy
... fsck ...
It's the second year that I wanted to go and I can't. (last year was because
of work).

Next's year GUADEC should be ~on the same dates, right? If yes, I promise

I just recognized that this year's Desktop Summit is in Berlin. That's
great, I would really like to come to see you all, at least for one or two
days. But I can't promise at the moment if I have the time to come, because
I'm writing my diploma thesis currently (until october). So I have to decide
it really spontaneously - but I don't think that should be a real problem to
spend one or two days in Berlin.

This year, GAUDEC and KDE's aKademy are combined and having a Desktop
Summit in Berlin from August 6-12.
Like the previous Desktop Summit in 2009, some of the aMSN developers
are going there.

For now, we don't know yet how many people would want to go and what
budget we would have for everyone... So it would be nice if everyone
who is able to go there (in terms of timing and motivation) replies
here. Also try to get information on how much it would cost for your
travel.
