That will get clobbered on the next update. One way to go back is

The new version of slime (slime-20130615-cvs) in the latest distribution of
quicklisp is hanging on commands like tab (complete symbol, repl) and M-.
find definiton.

I realize this is not the place to complain about slime bugs but I don't
have time for that right now.

What I want to know is how to correctly go back to the previous Slime
version?

I altered the contents of the file
 dists/quicklisp/installed/systems/swank.txt
from
 dists/quicklisp/software/slime-20130615-cvs/swank.asd
to
 dists/quicklisp/software/slime-20130420-cvs/swank.asd

Is this ok?

ASDF caches some information about systems, so when you removed the file
on disk the cache got out of date.

You should be able to proceed if you use (asdf:clear-system "cffi") to
clear the cache first.

OS: OSX 10.6.8
SBCL: 1.1.7
ASDF: 2.33
Quicklisp: 2012112500

Hi. I encounter an error loading another library. And error shows that
probably my cffi is too old. So I want to update my old CFFI 0.10.7 to
0.11.2. So I delete ~/.sbcl/site/cffi_0.10.7.
Then git clone git-9UaJU3cA/F/QT0dZR+AlfA&lt; at &gt;public.gmane.org:cffi/cffi.git to ~/quicklisp/local-projects/and do:

(ql:quickload "cffi")

error occurred:

debugger invoked on a LOAD-SYSTEM-DEFINITION-ERROR in thread #&lt;THREAD "main thread" RUNNING {10037B8FE3}&gt;: Error while trying to load definition for system cffi from pathname /Users/Mac/.sbcl/systems/cffi.asd: Couldn't load #P"/Users/Mac/.sbcl/systems/cffi.asd": file does not exist.

A similar issue I found is:

welcome...Thank you!

cl-glut requires FreeGLUT. Google tells me Linux Mint has a freeglut3

<pre>

The "local-projects" directory is automatically scanned under certain
circumstances. Specifically, if the timestamp on the directory is newer
than the timestamp on system-index.txt in that directory, it will
attempt to find new systems in the entire directory tree and add them to
system-index.txt.

If you add a new system deep in the local-projects directory hierarchy,
it will not affect the top-level timestamp and it won't find the new
system automatically.

However, you can still add the systems to the index file with the
following:

 (ql:register-local-projects)

After that, any .asd file in local-projects should be loadable via
ql:quickload. If it's still not loadable after that, there might be some
other problem involved.

I agree. try (asdf:system-source-directory :cffi) and ensure that it is
not installed via

1. apt, yum, or any other package systems which comes with your unix

2. asdf-install.
